H Guys,
My new FZ-S is going for ts first service tomorrow.it has done 770km till now and I have something which I think isnot normal, please advice.
After riding for some 10 mins also I can get some smell from the engine (heating smell) exactly like what I used to get from my previous Pulsar 150 when I rip the bike at more than 90kmph.
I feel this is very normal since I dont even cross 50kmph in my new bike as it is new.Kindly advice whether the smell is normal for new bikes.
Also let me know if I need to give some input for the yamaha service centre for the 1st service.

osram NBs cost around 1500 rs per pair...
And any suggestions on the tire? btw, I feel the stock isnt that bad

What to do???

the philips xtremevision and osram's NB are bulbs manufactured for cars so they always come in pairs....Originally posted by s_and_m View PostSo, what is a good solution now? and guessing from the post u have a fazer... if you want to just change the high beam you will have to see that these bulbs are available in the specific types and than find another person who want to do the same...Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

No buddy.. I have the FZ-16. I only wanted to change out my high beam coz I use my low beam most of time while night riding (office -> home) and only the high beam only for relatively-higher speed runs at night or on the patches of road from office to home where there are no street lights (what I usually do in these times is keep the 'PASS' switch on by perssing it the whole time.. its distracting. On a separate note, on the FZ too, if u keep the low beam - high beam switch in the middle, it lights up both the bulbs to full capacity.. but obv this should not be done a lot coz it drains the batt).Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Postthe philips xtremevision and osram's NB are bulbs manufactured for cars so they always come in pairs....

I didnt wanna get noticed by the cops when riding in the city with these (I use only low beam there coz all the streets in the city are well lit).
Anyone from Pune here needs a single Phillips xtremevision / Osram NB
PS: Guys, how does this look for the rear tire ?
MT 75 , Motorcycle Tyres , PIRELLI TYRE
Sigh :-/ whats wrong with the stock Revz again?
EDIT:
@deville_56: Dude, how's ur vulcanized tire holding up?Last edited by s_and_m; 11-12-2010, 01:53 AM.

i am curious how are you planning to change just the high beam as it is a single bulb in fz.. thats why i thought you have a fazer in which the high and low beam bulbs are different......Originally posted by s_and_m View PostNo buddy.. Osram NB is very much available in single pack also. I bought it long back in ebay for around Rs 800, i see now its not listed in ebay. You go to any car Showroom they stock it. I had seen single pack of Osram NB in whitefield honda in bangalore, he is selling for Rs 900.Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Postthe philips xtremevision and osram's NB are bulbs manufactured for cars so they always come in pairs....

Ownership Report 12-11-10
Today i got my 2nd servicing done. So here is the report:
Odo Reading: 2506 kms
2nd Servicing Charges:
Engine Oil: Yamalube- Rs. 224/-
Oil Filter: Rs. 65/-
Chain Oiling: Rs. 100/-
Fuel Economy: 43-47 kmpl (This figure is before servicing. Initially i thought my bike was giving a much lesser figure, thanks to the stupid digital fuel indicator which gives wrong info by a mile!! and i do ride it between 60 - 85+ kmph. So the figure is magical!!)
Any Problems:
* Carbon deposit on battery terminals was my last niggle a week back!! It didn't let my bike starter motor and the console get enough power. Got sorted it out before the servicing though.
* Gear lever was making a bit of a noise when shifting. Got it sorted after oiling.
* Rust on one or two nuts... but it is expected in Mumbai's extreme weather.
Accidents:None!
Serviced at: Kamla Yamaha, Sunmill compound, lower ParelLast edited by shv18; 11-12-2010, 05:51 PM.A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

Lately I see there is a lot of rush at the SVC. I always do service my bike at Kamla Yamaha at Parel. When I went there for my last service looked like all of them were rushing, completing the services.
I remember when I went there for the first time. Did everything properly, but nowadays I see that they are always in a hurry. Last time when I went there on a weekday I saw there were more than 25 bikes for service and they have capacity to service 4-5 bikes at a time. Also they dont allow us to get the service done in front of us.
Wasn't happy with the kind of service I had last time.
Mumbai guys any better service station than Kamla Yamaha where I can see what the mechanic is doing with my bike.

Why did you give 100 Rs for lubricating the chain. The cost of OKS spray is around 400 Rs and will last you atleast 10-12 sprays. These people are charging more for lubrication. I think it should not be more than 50 Rs.Originally posted by shv18 View PostToday i got my 2nd servicing done. So here is the report:

Else get yourself a 1Ltr bottle of 90 grade oil and DIY. Thats the best way to lubricate O-ring chains. I am doing it for the last 10K Kms and have never faced any problems.

in an overcrowded city like Mumbai, it is normal for a service center to be overcrowded too
. As the no. of FZs increase on road, so will the cues in the service center.
My advice to you. Take a prior appointment 2 -3 days in advance, make sure it is between Tues - Friday.. avoid weekends at all cost!! Its 1st come, 1st serve basis!! so if you hit the SVC at 10 am sharp, the servicing gets done in about an hour's time and little bit of sweet talking with the guys at the workshop will get your work done really fast and they will let you hang around... as long as you don't start dictating them on every nut and bolt they work on your bike... hit them with a final feedback as soon as they finish one task at a time. That way, they won't get pissed off and you'll have your way of getting your bike serviced to the satisfaction too!! Hope this helps.
Cheers,

i know that's too much, but then again i was in a bit of a rush, and have a long riding session starting from today evening. I do have a synthetic lubricant for the chains but been lazy to DIY. So 100 bucks didn't exactly pinch my wallet
. I guess i am just too new to biking world as the minimum amount i used to pay for servicing my dad's car was 3k!! But thanks anyways RAK

Buddy thats what I exactly do....always take prior appointment a week ago on a weekday....take leave from office on that day......reach SVC at around 9:30 sometimes even before they open up....since I stay I ghatkopar I come a long way for service and that too always early.Originally posted by shv18 View PostHi,

And as I have done all my service from Kamla and guys out there know me.....always get a proper advice frim them......but again...I dont see my bike getting serviced in front of me since their waiting room is on the 1st floor.
And also last time they told me my battery water and all is checked and everything is good....whereas it wasn't. Battery water level was low when I took it to my regular mechanic as horn was not working correctly.
Also they are out of stock for Air Filter from last 3 times I went there. Finally got it from my mechanic. Asked him to get one.
Look since I have done a lot of services out there I can surely tell you that there is no surety of the work done by them. You can only go by their words.
Last time I went to a Bajaj SVC to get my friends 220 serviced they were doing it in front of him. Thats the point.

Well then you are a veteran when it comes to dealing with these guys.Originally posted by RAK View PostBuddy thats what I exactly do....always take prior appointment a week ago on a weekday....take leave from office on that day......reach SVC at around 9:30 sometimes even before they open up....since I stay I ghatkopar I come a long way for service and that too always early.

Since, i have only hit the 2nd servicing mark i guess my inputs may not help. however, so far they have done their work fine on me bike. So no complaints from my end.. YET!A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

Since your bike is new there wont be much issues....but once your bike cross 12K mark you will see the difference and then curse those guys.Originally posted by shv18 View PostWell then you are a veteran when it comes to dealing with these guys.

I mean if I am paying more than 80K for my bike then they need to listen what issues I am facing and try to resolve them. Most of them times they will take a short ride and will tell you 'SAB THEEK HAI'. You need a lot to convince those guys that 'SAB THEEK NAHI HAI'.
And once you convince them that everything is not correct then you need to see what that guy is doing in order to rectify it.
Maybe I will make sense to you after few services. Till then enjoy.
