this is the forum for fazr ownership as well because apart from the fairing and the handle bar everything is common for fz and fazer....

          • My Yammy FZ 16

            Hi All,

Got my Yamaha FZ 16, 4 days back and i am absolutely loving it!!!
clocked 350 kms in 4 days and so far the bike is rock steady... the gears are kinda getting a bit hard to shift but i guess after 1st service the bike should be good as new. i have read the manual which states that after 500 kms i can rev the engine upto 6000 rpm. is this advisable or should i continue keeping it under 4500 rpm? i am getting about 36-38 kmpl.

The tyre pressure however keeps on dropping by 2 - 3 psi every 2nd/3rd day both front and rear. Need some advice on this guys. Will applying the Honda Tubeless tyre sealant solve this problem?

will post proper details after the 1st service.

            cheers

A bit more info would be helpful. 70s is too low a top speed. The bike doesnt go above it is really surprising. What rpm are u doing at that speed.

Check your carb setting too in addition to spark plug and air filter.

It is fine to go till 6k rpm. But do it gradually.. dont go bonkers with the right wrist.

start your engine and switch on your pilot/position lamp the one below the headlight.
rev the engine and tell me if the brightness of the light fluctuates.
i think my wiring is screwed. cause it happens to me.
                  isnt it not suppose to?
Tried it out. Here's what happened.. when idling, the lamp went flicker flicker like it does in bikes with power coming in from induced current, i.e. when electrical power output depends on how hard the engine is revving,

Then when I gave it gas, it went constant.. I guess it reached its peak. This is VERY weird :-/

I had gone for white LEDs for my Fazer. The first one lasted a week only.
My mechanic said that it got shorted.!!

Now nobody is willing to splurge on those expensive LEDs each week....

My advice is to stay away from these LEDs which is a money making scheme,
though other accessories offered by Yamaha are of excellent quality and I can vouch for them.
Ok. I've heard enough. 500 Rs is better spent on a new and better spark plug. LED plans go down the drain too..

I checked the pilot lamp... this is happening with it too :O What do?

if it is so for all of us then i guess the pilot lamp runs on AC.
or there is power leaking out from the wiring.
or all our batteries suck. lol
weird ! for me only my pilot lamp fluctuates the headlight is fine whether i rev the engine or not.

can others also try this out and tell us?!

you neednt worry. check your battery fluid level if that is fine then check your battery. its not making enough power to supply the headlights.

Clocked almost 17k km on original pad. The adjusting nut almost tightened to the most. Fear it may break, as it happened once in Unicorn, on the move. Normally the brake used to make noise when its humid, but now its no more and the braking lacks confidence as it used to be, but skids quite often on hard braking. So it's the time na???? I bought a pair of brake shoes today and was planning to change it with chain and sprocket which I have ordered. So it's better to change right now na???
