Kinda shortage of spares in Yamaha Authorized spare counter, but normally they restock every 15 days. If the demand is too high, we have to book/reserve ours by paying half the price. When my bike was in for service last week, there was no brake pads and chain in stock. Today brake pad was available, but chain was not. So I booked a set for me. My bike's chain is making noise, otherwise no issue with it and service advisor said its okay to run on it and change at next service and he recommended to book the spare instead of waiting for the stock as I won't be getting any if the whole load gets booked.
Old Escorts Yamaha authorized guy is there who stocks Yamaha genuine parts. He had front brake pads and rear alloy wheel, which is not available with the dealer

oh i dude.. its me tom sawyer mod of fz orkut community !!Originally posted by deville_56 View PostYeah. It's me only
Clocked almost 17k km on original pad. The adjusting nut almost tightened to the most. Fear it may break, as it happened once in Unicorn, on the move. Normally the brake used to make noise when its humid, but now its no more and the braking lacks confidence as it used to be, but skids quite often on hard braking. So it's the time na???? I bought a pair of brake shoes today and was planning to change it with chain and sprocket which I have ordered. So it's better to change right now na???
wow.. 17k kms is a lot. and since you say you have used all the usable range you better change it. better safe than sorry when the brake fails !
that is weird. spares are available here in plenty. is this service centre the only one there? try other places. chain maybe making noise cause of dirt or lack of lubrication or misplaced sprocket position. dont think the sprocket and chain would wear off so soon if you had followed the cleaning and lubricating schedule for the chain.Originally posted by deville_56 View PostKinda shortage of spares in Yamaha Authorized spare counter, but normally they restock every 15 days. Then I'm gonna change it right nowOriginally posted by yellowspunk View Postwow.. 17k kms is a lot. and since you say you have used all the usable range you better change it. better safe than sorry when the brake fails !
Two ASC there plus the old Escorts guy selling genuine spares, but chain not in stock anywhere. Chain was cleaned and lubed at every service and I've been using diesel and oil myself once in a while. The sound was from the front sprocket previosuly, but now can't figure out where it isOriginally posted by yellowspunk View Postthat is weird. spares are available here in plenty. is this service centre the only one there? try other places. chain maybe making noise cause of dirt or lack of lubrication or misplaced sprocket position. dont think the sprocket and chain would wear off so soon if you had followed the cleaning and lubricating schedule for the chain.
. Chain was removed, cleaned and lubed at last service.
Anyway gonna buy the chain and keep it with me till the current over is done. It can easily do another 3-5k km it seems
. Anyway I have to run for the chain in case there is trouble with the present one if there is trouble.

Changed brake pads. Nervousness gone, but brake not as sharp as with the original pads. The one I bought was Yamaha repacked ASK brake pads while the one came with the bike was Yamaha brake pads [maybe some OEM item]. Lubed the chain and front sprocket with gear oil and all the troubles are gone [may be temporarily]
