Mine says specifically "YAMALUBE 4-Stroke motor oil (20W40 type SG)." They might have changed laterOriginally posted by Yamaha FZ View Post
This is what I found in manual
. Honda now using W30 oil on the same W40 recommended [by them] engines. Since Yamaha themselves recommending W50, there shouldn't be any problem using it, I believe.

That is certainly a first for me. Some one should ping Yamaha w.r.t this.
If this is true then very cool for us coz then we can use the Motul (which is rebadged as Yamalube) FS oil meant for the R15 with out any worries.
Edit: Just sent them a question. Hope they answer this one.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
But its how fast you get up, that matters.....

SZ vs FZ
Hey guys,
Got a brain teaser for you. The SZ is the exact same engine as the FZ. Same bore and stroke lengths and there fore same displacement. But how is that rated for such a low torque and power? (12 vs FZ's 14)
Surely carb adjustment cannot contribute to such a drop in power.
What else could have changed??Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

Why oh why didnt Yamaha come out with the green one when they launched the FZ-S.
They launched the green one just two days after I bought my bike.

guys i screwed up again... big time this time!!!
Was at a party saturday night and at about 3am sunday i was caught by cops... i was taken to the city traffic police for a breath check and was caught having consued alcohol.. i wasnt drunk but was very steady but yet fined for having consumed it...i was court fined, the court has suspended by license for a month
..... so for one month i wont be able to ride my bike nor take it anywhere so its going to be at home the whole time... ive decided to take it to a nearby service station for a good water and air blast wash and then fill the tank up before i store it away for a month....
Is there any other precautions i need to take before storing the bike for a month.. and if so please do tell me....
ThanksWHo says you need a woman to feel what a ride is like???... get a bike instead!!! ***Honda Hornet**

Is this the fully synthetic 10w40 oil? Could you please let me know how much that oil costs, how long it lasts (drain interval), and whether we need to top up in between? I have an R15 btw.Originally posted by s_and_m View PostExactly...I checked my manual carefully when I was switching to full synth oil...got 10W40 instead of the mentioned 20W40 but did not change the W40 part...
It says W40 and never have I seen 2 grades for the same vehicle in the same weather conditions.

Edit: Just sent them a question. Hope they answer this one.The semi-synth Yamalube is 15w50. The mineral grade recommended is 20w40 for both R15&FZ. In case of semi/fully synthetic oils, the grade will not match exactly to the mineral grade. If you read the 1st few posts in the Engine Oils thread by Sandeep K Ram, it mentions clearly that if the recommended grade is 20w40, you can go for a 15w50 or 10w40, but not a 20w50 grade.Originally posted by Yamaha FZ View PostSent this query to Yamaha

Sad to hear about that. If I were in your place, I would have bribed the official instead of having a blackmark on my licence, but its different in various cities. Anyways, coming back to the point-storage procedure written in the manual is for long periods of months to a year or so. For just one month, I don't think you need to do anything much, just see that you start the bike&warm her up in your parking once in a week or 10 days so that the internals will be well lubricated&also the battery won't get discharged. Rest you can clean&fill fuel before storing.Originally posted by venomafiax View Postguys I screwed up again... big time this time!!!

Whats more-maybe you can still ride around in the gullies near your place.Quench my thirst with gasoline!
