Alternatively you can fit a higher profile rear tyre, like a 120-130/ with a higher side profile. This will increase the overall diameter of the rear tyre, giving you slightly higher gearing, but at the loss of the handling that you are used to, and modding it slightly.
FZ front sprocket is 14T, rear is 40T.

No! No issues with that. Just don't go too fast because it stresses the engine, & don't accelerate or de-accelerate too fast either. Rest is just fine.
      Enjoy the ride.

I've fitted the 15T front sprocket from the Unicorn. Easy to fit. Now 5th gear really feels like top gear. But 1st gear is a bit tall. Not a problem riding alone but with pillion more clutch slipping needed. Mileage has improved; 10% or so. Not tested for top speed yet.

dude don't worry about it , the bike doesn't need practice on the streets , jus make sure you don't ride at the same speed for a long time on the highway , vary your speed within the limit and you should be fine ...

Direct fit but not a perfect fit; the rotational play on the shaft increases with the Unicorn sprocket. Not excessive but noticeable in stop and go traffic and constant throttle opening and closings.

                      • Hey didnt someone mention putting in a 220 engine on the FZ chassis some time back on the thread?? Any updates on that?

Would also like to know the general opinion on options for upgrading -

                        AFAIK there's three rite now:

                        The Racing+Exhaust kit
                        Air Filter+Upjetting
                        Free flow exhaust (?)

One of my friends wants to add some punch to his 15 month old FZ but like me he's mostly a noob about the actual indepth mechanical stuff!

Ah! Brilliant, maybe a 120 with a higher side profile, micehllins or some really nice soft compund tyre should get me what I am looking for.

I did keep this RPM limit during 1000 kms, But i normally rip it whenever i can after 1000 kms. Yes, if i had to keep that RPM level while riding i could have bought hero honda splendor.

I used to rip my RX-100 more than my FZ, but RX-100 always used to give me above 35 kmpl. So as far as FE is concern FZ purchase is a downgrade from RX-100 Other than FE bike is very good. I am thinking to give my FZ service to my previous mechanic of RX-100, i feel Service centers dont give much attention whatever we complain of FE or engine heating.

FZ is a poor mileage machine...the only thing you can do to improve your mileage is ride smooth and tune your engine lean.

ask your SVC to tune it for decent mileage and decent power.

a problem that i am facing on my fz....
the front tyre looses a lot of air in very limited time...like in a couple of days the pressure falls to 22psi from 28...there are no visible punctures on the tread...the valve is not the issue either ...i have checked...the tyre has done 10k kms....

can anyone pls help me out...thnx in advance...
