Wax won't work. You could try having the paint polished with fine polishing compound, not cutting or rubbing compound.
Your last resort would be to have the tank panels repainted or add a coat of clear coat.

Yamaha uses very soft paint that as a result, scratches very easily.

          hi,
instead of going through ll this hassle you can get the tank panel replaced it costs around 550rs or else you can get some sticker work.....

coz no one guarrantees about the paint and the wax wont cover it

If they are not too deep scratches, then you can use a soft rubbing compound to remove them, then polish the area to get back the shine. You need to be very careful that you don't rub too hard, else the paint will go off. Ensure that the rubbing compound you get is white in color, not yellow. It should be a paste&not the car cutting compound type of liquid. Try for K2K or 3M soft rubbing compound, or ask a paint shop guy.
To know which scratches can be removed, try this: run your wet finger over the scratches to see if they get covered up or not with the water. If yes, you can rub them out (minor)
For bigger scratches where the paint is clearly gone, as @iamvik said, there is no option other than getting it repainted.

My FZ16 is 1yr 2 months old nd it has run around 12k.. the battery died recently nd after giving it for charging it worked but only for 2 weeks, after tht it completely died.. So i thought of replacing it with a new battery.. I went to the yamaha showroom nd asked for a new battery nd he gave me a MINDA company battery.. It costed me 750rs.. i replaced the new battery nd the bike started normally..
But the problem is tht i got screwd from my bro for not getting EXIDE battery.. as he was told from some of his friend tht MINDA batteries are not good nd it doesnt has a long life..

So im confused nd scared if this minda battery would work properly.. while riding the bike i always think if i have made the right choice my buying minda battery nd scared if my new battery dies again..
So pls give ull valuable views on this.. have i done the right thing by buying minda battery?? Is it a good battery.. pls give ur suggestion as i dont know much about it..

                • Minda is the original battery fitted by Yamaha. I use my bike only 3 times a week for short distances and I've not had any problems with the battery.

If you do have problems, make use of the warranty.

Well, my bike is as old as yours. Done 14000+ kms on it. And haven't changed the battery yet. Running on the same MINDA battery from the start. I don't have any opinion of it being not good.

There is a Gpower from NGK fo FZ but there is no significant gain from it....atleast thats what the feedback i got....else you can take a chance and go for the honda's Iridium like the others did.....

Go for the motul semi-synth or the petronas full synth......
these are the two best options available in Pune....
Dont bother with Castrol......already used it.....

                            Rest all is your decision....cheers....
Guys.. need urgent help from you all..

Where in Pune do I source Motul semi-synth or Petronas full synth? I live in Pimple Saudagar and I wanted to get the bike serviced in the weekdays itself, so 2 only days left!

                            Thanks in advance

Edit: Which grade exactly does FZ take? 15W40 or 20W40?

Yes but which one is preferable? Or should I just decide by the cost? what does the 1st number stand for? Any ideas?
