Hello all, its a long time since I have posted.

Right now I have an urgent problem. The chain of my fz 16 has started rusting very much. All this just after 5500km and 8 months. Is this serious? Should I change the chain?
Also after I had tuned my engine, the mileage simply seems to reduce.

I don't think the chain will rust if you keep lubing it regularly after every 500 km or after every run in the sandy areas like beaches. My chain is 23k old and it's still good as new with regular chain lubing.

Have you tuned according to ********** setting procedure? May be a little on the richer side...

Ah, the fruits of not looking after your chain. It's recommended to clean and lubricate the chain every 500kms. It's something I think most people fail to do because so far all Indian bikes have been coming with a chain cover and could afford not to look after their chain religiously. But with these new generation of bikes of bikes coming with the open design, they can't afford not be callous anymore.

Guys i have changed my yamalube semi. to Motul 5100(10W40) yesterday... pretty good oil i would say... the gears are like too smooth which is very good for ~25000 kms bike...

Guys, What chain lubricant you all are using ? Do we have to buy it in Yamaha showroom or somewhere else? How much will be lubricant and cleaner costs? I am also noticing 1 or 2 spots of rust on my chain.

The best chain clean and lubricant is Motul... i am not using it coz its way too costly(450Rs for each)...
other method is use kerosene/diesel to clean the chain and use a SAE140 gear oil to lube it... this is the method i am and many others using... its the most cost effective lubing for chain...

For cleaning the chain you can use good old kerosene if you can lay your hands on some, if not, then diesel will also do. Never clean the chain with the engine running though, some people found this out the painful way. Just rotate the rear wheel manually.
For lubricating the chain I personally use a locally made chain lubricant spray(Costs around Rs250, don't remember), Motul or some reputed brand would be even better. Still, I find that using a chain lubricant is much better for the chain, it lasts longer(from what I can tell), and most of all it attracts less dirt than if you were to lubricate it with oil.

Thanks a lot guys, will start to maintain my Chain. I think once in 500kms, i should clean and lubricate.

Hmmm good... if you are using the Motul then 500kms will be ok... but if you are going for others i think lubing at around 250-300 will be good, don't think others will last for more than 300kms...

Went to SVC guys n they said that no fuel lock available for FZ as accessory, where did u get urs changed?

For those who have installed, do u suggest I go for 90/100W or the 55/60 is more than enough??

Hi Guys..I recently moved to Noida from pune and gave my Fazer for servicing (3rd Free) to only service centre in noida ( JM motors Sec 10) and they completely screwed it... The tuning is screwed badly and engine gets switched off in traffic. It is taking more time to get started..generally it taeks 1-2 sec..now its taking 3-4....Stand is deviated and when i take a sharp turn it touches road..I think they just washed it and gave it back to me..I am highly dissatisfied...pls let me know any service centre where you are satisfied..in Delhi or GHaziabad. Pls recommend

I remember the first time I ever rode a bike, it was my father's 91' model RX100. Ah, brings back fond memories.
Too bad 2-strokes are almost extinct now. Nothing like the raw feeling of a screaming 2-stroke engine to stir up your loins.
Doesn't matter how much faster the new 4-strikes are, or better they handle, there is something unquantifiable about riding a 2-stroke.

I spotted a Black FZ with Dagrex exhaust fitted.... It sounded like a motocross...... though da sound seemed unique n full of speed....

any one dared to try it?
