liquid cooling has nothing to do with the battery, the pump runs off the crank. Its a sealed maintenance free, and can give high cranking currents for the starter motor. Its just about sufficient for the bike. Moreover the alternator is rated for output at 5000 rpm, so above that the battery gets disconnected automatically once charged.Originally posted by dude_phenom View PostA 12V 3.5A battery??

I'm shocked... I thought with the FI and electric start and Liquid cooling it'll be more...

Welcome to "the lord of the streets" group.
The run in is period is the most important phase of the engine of the bike. Here are some tips.
1. Till 1st service, NEVER increase the speed beyond 60 km/hr.
2. Shift up at 4k rpm and down at 2.5k rpm.
3. In mornings use choke and start the bike and keep it idling for 1-2 minutes.
4. Don't try premium petrol. Go for the normal one.
5. Try to ride mostly at 50-55km/hr at 3.5-4k rpm. This is the optimum rpm and should give you maximum mileage.
6. Check the air pressure every 2 weeks.
Most owners fail to realise these and start zipping by once they have bought their bikes. Just after the 1st service, you can start speeding.
I had followed these rules and do so even today with only occasional ripping. I get a mileage of 48-54 which is considered good for the bike.Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.

i generally drive at 3 - 3.5k rpm and keep speed below 50 km/hr bcoz service centre guy suggested me that.
Do we consider RPM only while shifting gears up/down or we should consider speed also?

Hi guys, tomorrow I'm going for my 4th service.. Just wanted to know which oil is most preferable at 4400 kms that I have completed?
Motul synthetic/semi-synthetic
Yamalube synthetic/semi-syn
Petronas.
or any other.
I have tried Castrol Power1 on my last 2 services, its not that much of a problem but the engine heats up too quick so want to try other oils now

The best possible gear changes are at 4-4.5 rpm(1st>5th) and at 2.5 rpm(1st<5th) which i am using at normal riding and if you are a rever then its your choiceOriginally posted by srai View PostHi experts,

No no don't use choke unless its needed... after continuously using choke for morning starts will make the bike do the same every time. i haven't used the choke even for a single time which i don't find the need for it and my bike will crank in a single or couple of starts and she has completed 25000+ kms now...Originally posted by vinchel View PostWelcome to "the lord of the streets" group.

i am currently using Motul semi(10W40) which is really good, before that yamalube semisyn. which is not the recommended grade(15W50) so i changed to Motul... i haven't tried others, from my experience both oils are good or equally same and as yamalube is not reccomended go fot Motul semi...Originally posted by mitz View PostHi guys, tomorrow I'm going for my 4th service.. Gear down shifting slips...
Hi guys,
I got my FZ-16 in march. Done with first service. Followed all the new bike maintainence guidelines till now. But have one complaint, while shifting the gears down, at slow speeds, the shift from 4>3>2, the gears actually slip once occasionally. Its like the shifting is done but it hasn't yet shifted to 4>3 or 3>2 and i have to lift up and shift it down again to get the lower gear. My bike hasn't even completed 1000 km. Any advice guys, maybe some problem in clutch plate?? What to do?
Mileage is great compared to this bike, its giving about 45 kmpl consistently now but still have to wait for long term results.

to my knowledge this happens when u dont completely close the clutch lever... so just try to fully close the clutch and press the gear softly it should be fine...Originally posted by ifeellikegod View PostHi guys,

hey guys,
i have finally installed a projector head lamp in the headlight but i wont be able to fix it on the bike as the bike is in goa till 25th of July
........
the projector costed me 2k plus the charge of a new original headlight(as I didnt think that for 650rs(cost of a new original headlight
) I should take the risk) plus some 200rs for labour, m-seal, and other fitting apparatus.....
although the procedure to remove the glass cover with a hot ar gun was troublesome.....Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009
