I was thinking of fitting a 55/60 W Philips Xtreme power bulb at a cost of Rs. 800 approx. But I figure that since a new battery costs Rs. 1000 and a 90/100 W bulb costs Rs. 200, this might make more sense than the XP bulb. Ofcourse, a set of relays and new wiring is a must for the high power bulb but it won't cost much since I'll do the fitting and wiring myself.

    Any thoughts on this?
Maybe a stupid question.....But why is the higher wattage bulb cheaper????

that too of the same brand????

      1. If I ride for continuous 250km at a stretch, will it affect my engine?
      2. My bike's performance has subdued. I could only reach 118kph at top speed. Earlier on same road, I've reached 125kph. My bike is 14k and 1 year old. What can be the problem of a dip in top speed?
      1. 250 km at a stretch!! Better you tell us about your bike's engine condition!

      2. Upjet your carb. Maybe you have tuned for more mileage.

ride in smaller bursts...rev the rpm freely...take breaks after like every 70-100kms...make sure oil level in ur bike is optimal....that will ensure everything goes smoothly...

performance of the bike decreases over a time period but regular servicing puts it back to its best...also a lot of factor the bike's top speed...wind direction...ur position while riding...the weight of fuel u are carrying...anyone of these might have put off ur top speed....
sigpicGirls are like roads, more the curves, more the dangerous they are.

To ride or not to ride?? is a....
        very very stupid question....

I didn't ride 250 km at a stretch. Rode to 150 km at a stretch and then re-fuelled my bike and took a break.

Also, I've not disturbed the Carb tuning since 10 months, so don't know why the top speed dip....

Hey thanks, I did the same. Took a break after 150 km. The engine was obviously hot. Everything else was optimum...

And I've got my bike serviced 2 weeks ago only, so no issue on that side too... Does clutch plate has any effect on top speed?

Could be...do u feel a abrasion while shifting gears??? like moving in from 1 to second or hitting false neutral and stuff like that??? dunno the average kms that a plate lasts but should be round 15k kms or so..i think...

Guys the guy at service center after draining the whole oil from my engine he started the engine for some time without engine oil and on asking him he said he did this to drain the oil left in engine

So guys was that ok to start the engine without oil. Will this create some trouble?

                • yes.. you should buy your own insurance.. and cancel the previous owner's insurance.. its next to impossible to claim warranty or insurance for tyres..

Regarding the insurance policy, you must get it transferred to your name. Since the delay after the change of ownership is long, you will be asked to get the vehicle inspected by their inspection agent. Be prepared to pay 150 or so for inspection and 50 or so for transfer at a nationalised insurance company. Maybe more at a pvt. company.

Note: If you decide to buy a new policy, you will still have to get the vehicle inspected.

                    • Hi guys,
Iam rajesh from bangalore, i own a fz16 (mar-09) and not much of a modification done just a xenon lamp fitted, custom made crash guard and got the complete bike lacquered. Pictures at comet garage ver V11 complete overhauling. Had been to muthathi and did a little bit of offroading. just been to thattekad (kerala) about 1200 km on 13 jan for three days, the bike behaved really well and the handling is spontanies took sharp bends it was really stable i think the pictures would do rest of the talking, pic at Blr-thattekad bird sanctuary.
I want to know if the daytona kit is worth fixing in the bike, pls let me know thee reviews....

                      Cheers

Yes i too had this fear when my Mech did this when changing the oil...
But u can visibly see that when he starts the engine - with the drain valve opened more few drops of the Old Engine oil spitted out....

He said that these Few drops of engine oil will still stay inside and cause a little bit of damage to the New oil which is about to be Poured....So by starting the engine only we can get these oil out....

                        • ^^ you can always ask the mech to remove the spark plug cable and crank the engine using the starter, its less harmful this way.

Speaking of service guys. When the service booklet says 100 days do they mean 100days exact or 3 months??? I'm nearing my 2nd free service but i dont know whether to give it now (3 months) or wait for the extra 10 days..
