  • Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S

Just returned from the mech's workshop.
He changed the fork oil and the seals. Upon inspection, the brake fluid was found low. Flushed and replaced the whole fluid. The ball racer needs to be replaced,as well as the stock battery, after 2 years and 12000 kms of use. Will do it in the weekend. Chain and pads have a long way to go.
Took 3 hours to do the work, am happy.
    Total expenses:
Yamaha Genuine Fork Oil seals: 180x2=360
Yokohama Fork Oil & Brake Fluid: 450
    Labour: 150
    Discount: 60
    TOTAL: 900

Very happy with the job done.
Will get the gear shift lever (maybe), ball racer and battery Amaron 9A MF (since I use 35wx2 dual beam projectors with HIDs)c hanged this weekend. The ride quality and brake bite has significantly improved. By the way, do I have to tinker the rear monoshock? (@shv18 plz help)

My front disc brake pads are rattling inside the caliper when I ride through a broken road. Anybody knows what causing it ?
Tried bleeding, didn't work. Also brake lever has a lot play

Had a strange thing for a first time.. had to go to the market, the bike started at the first crank even though it was very cold. But when I tried to start the bike to return, it refused to crank up. The speedo-meter would dim when the starter was pressed. After many failed attempts, kick started my bike and it was live at the first kick.
If it was due to the cold weather, would it have problem starting at the first time also.
What might have caused it. Or just the cold. ?

            Ride safe and have fun.

Can't think of why it would rattle like that in the caliper. Better get it checked ASAP.

Looks like your battery is down. Since you said that your speedo dims when you try to crank the engine. Or the cold weather is affecting the battery.

Are you sure the pads are rattling? How is the front braking behaving? The rattling was happening before you did the bleeding or started after that? IMO, the pads will not rattle.

Get the voltage of battery checked at any battery shop. If it is lower, you might have to charge it or replace if charging dosen't help.

Ya, the speedo and the pilot lamp also dimmed happened for the first time today.
Will get the voltage checked and get back.

I think he is referring to misfiring.

Try filling from a different bunk and see if the problem still persists. It can happen due to bad quality fuel. Do this and see if if there is any improvement or not.

And for my problem, I didn't got the chance to get the battery voltage checked today. Will try to get it checked tomorrow.
Also, the noise which I had reported coming from the rear wheel has started again and now its continuous.
Will take the bike to a mechanic in coming days to see what's causing this.

                          Ride safe and have fun.

Replace the sparkplug if not done already.
