Not really, I guess! Pardon my ignorance but if I remember correctly, a salesperson explaining things (PDI) to one of my friend while taking delivery warned him not to keep anything in the space beside the rubber protection for Air Filter box. I believe that you are referring to the same spot.

In any case, it is highly likely that you are running on a lean mixture which is why it might be running outta breath at higher RPMs. Try tuning the AFR screw and let us know.

Hey , yes , its the same spot I'm reffering to. Thanks for letting me know about this ,

Not really sure about the AFR ratio , my bike was last serviced 647kms , I'm now at 1340 kms , last filled fuel 220 kms ago , still have 2 units of fuel displayed on fuel guage. Issue occured only yesterday for the very first time and I dont see it anymore either

      Thanks again

As per your description, I believe that you are blocking the air filter and hence making the air filter rich. That is not a proper place to put anything which may block the air flow to airfilter. Just try riding after removing that piece of cloth and let us know the results.

I removed the cloth yesterday right after reading the responses from xbhp. Problem disappeared too . This could be root cause , else I might face it again in future until which I might have to sit and keep calm..

Okay, that's comforting since your bike is new. One major factor to be considered here is that your bike is still under run-in, so it is customary from the bike's engine POV that it will take some time to get accustomed to the drill. There are other reasons like impurity/water in petrol. Do not worry and keep noticing minute details like this and report, this fraternity has always been helpful!

A friendly suggestion: Also, try the search option for more elaborate answers for your queries. The thread is close to 2000 pages and there are chances that your query has already been answered before.

            Take care & Ride safe!

After using the stock Rear tyre for over 4 and a half years & 32k Kms, changed it last week . Opted for a 120/80 MRF Zapper Tubeless one. It took 2 days for me to get adjusted to the new tyre . There is a small difference in handling and the new tyre raised the height a bit. I could feel that the pickup has increased and a small upscale in the mileage figures as well . Now getting 38KMPL as against 35. Overall very much happy with the new tyre. Had been struggling with the puncture filled old one for the past one year.

And I on the other hand wanted a 150 size when i last changed the tyre. FZ looks muscular in fat/wide tyres only (personal opinion)
Any specific reason to downsize, apart from the puncture problem ?

                Ride safe and have fun.

That's a serious change mate!! I wonder how the bike is going to behave on different terrains and most importantly in corners!

I see image results for both colours on Google and they appear to be the similar to me.

For example, see <Yamaha launches FZ16 and FZ-S with new colors and graphics | Indiaon2wheels> (scroll down to the third image). This is mentioned as black cyber green.

And now, see <Products | India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd.> (mean green is displayed, For a larger view, click "Colour" and click on the "mean green" image).

The only little difference I see is that the mean green one has a spotted pattern on the side graphics whereas the black cyber green has a curly graphics. Does anyone own the black cyber green coloured bike?

When I asked the Yamaha showroom at CMH Road, Indiranagar, Bangalore, they said they are not aware of any black cyber green coloured FZ-S? Where do people get these cyber green FZ-S from then?

Also, why does the yamaha-motor-india.com website not list the cyber green coloured bike?

I would like to buy the black cyber green FZS because it looks better to me. Can I buy this bike from Yamaha showroom this year?
I asked a similar question to [email protected] and I got this response from them.

Ya, the puncture problem is big enough i believe ....got fed up with visiting the air pump every alternate day. The noise which the earlier tyre made(noise of rubber on tar) also irritated me most of the times .

Good to hear ur problem is solved.......also during cold climate its bound to happen that u may feel few jerks as if u have hit reserve....but it may vanish sometimes.....and it wont cause ur rpm limitation until somethng is blocking the air filter. Try changing the pump to see if fuel quality is impacting bike's performance.

sure , will do , also got the issue only yesterday , after bike had run 200 kms of fuel... not there today ., I'm suspecting the cold climate as I live in Pune and it tends to be cold often.,

I am assuming that you are talking about post turning the ignition on, it is Yes for 2009 model.
