Well the new chain does not need any lube at the time of installation and only has to be lubed after 8-10 days as told by my svc mech. You can lube it before you go on your tour. Check the idle rpm as well, should atleast be 1200.

Also remember to keep the rear tyre pressure to 33, not to ride hard over uneven surface or potholes, check chain slackness and setting every 15 days and lastly lube the chain every 300-400 kms.

When on tours, cruising speed of 80-90 would be fine, taking a 10-15 min break every 2.5 hrs would do good for the engine and as said by one of the members above, ride your bike a few times before to check for any niggles.

Hope you have a great ride and do post a FR. Ride safe

      Bello guys,

I am not able to go beyond 100 kmph in WOT. It is almost like a rev-limiter ; what could be the reason? My bike is bone stock now but I am running without an air filter. Can anyone give a scientific explanation please?

      Thanks.

At 5th gear what rpm can your bike reach ?
Imo because of there's no air filter, the mixture is super lean and that's what restricting the top speed.
Running without an airfilter can damage the engine.

          Barely pushing beyond ~6500
Lean mixture is what I thought too. I am going for a ride tomorrow and planning to experiment something. Let's see.

          Thanks.

Put back the air filter. You can remove the outer box though. You're running super lean and I shouldn't tell you but you'd fry some engine internals by the time you come back from the ride tomorrow!

I will be running atleast 200 km before the ride so it should be fine I guess. As of Disc brakes bite, the pads where changed 2k kms back, asked them to check for both brakes , they checked and said front is fine but rear has been replaced. They replaced the brake fluid when they replaced the master cylinder assembly. Should I change front brakes again?

Unless your pads are really worn out or glazed there is really no need to replace them.
Did the SVC guys perform a proper bleeding when they replaced the fluid? Most SVCs and even local mechanics dont bother with bleeding the brakes properly they just add brake fluid. If the brake feels soft they just say "saab, do-char din chala lo tight ho jayega". This is my personal experience.
I just bled the brake line myself after that.

You can also do the same. Its not a very difficult procedure especially if you follow any of the DIYs posted.
All you need is the right sized ring-spanner (10-11mm).

                  Cheers!!

                    Not 10mm, but 11mm.
I am left in the cold because of this, i have 10 mm and 12 mm, but not 11mm. Will have to buy one.

I might not have the time to bleed it myself, will take it to a local mechanic instead. Doing some shopping before the tour. Guys any idea where can I buy bungee nets in chennai

                        Oops!! Confusing post.
I actually meant the double-sided ring spanner which has 10mm on one end and 11mm on the other.
                        I didnt mean 10 or 11mm spanner.

have a question: Is the fluid in the chamber supposed to look like this ?
                          It was soot black

I'm fairly certain that's NOT how brake fluid should look. It looks like the fluid is severely oxidized and contaminated.
Good that you changed it. Depending on what type of fluid it is, the fluid will either look red (DOT-3) or clear (DOT-4).

                            Cheers!!

I had seen the svc change oil in an accidental bike and they used DOT-3 (red color), this might also be the same. But Black
The braking performance was severely degraded so i changed it. Looks like it was the best decision.
I used DOT-4 oil this time (Bosch)

DOT 2,3,4,5 can have all colors - pink, red, black or clear. The only way to tell the grade of the oil is from its packet when bought. You cannot tell the grade after it has been filled.
