I had to give for first service at 800+ kms as I completed one month by then.. Just before giving the bike for service, i mean on the way to service station i touched 85-90 kmph.. And my question is people say that the run in period should be 1000 kms.. Since i topped at 800+ kms it self, will this create any probs for the engine ?? am really worried.. Please let me know guys.. thanks..

    Mate,

no offence but i am astonished with all new riders who never bother to read the owner's manual which comes along with your respective bikes. It has been clearly mentioned that during 1st 500 kms the rpms have to maintained under 4k and after that it should be taken upto 6k rpm (unless the newer versions have a different manual or they have stopped providing it!!). If you are way to gentle with your ride then you risk scuffing the cylinder walls and damaging the engine cylinder and piston side wall. Follow what the manufacturer has recommended you to do.

It is important as a rider to first go through the documents and the service manual provided along with your bike to first acquaint yourself with your bike. I would recommend rather request all newbie riders to follow this exercise first before posting queries as believe me you will be better equipped in answering half of your own questions in this regard.

Coming back to the query, it is not an issue if you have completed only 800 kms as of now. Get the servicing done within the recommended period and now start opening her up. If you witness slightly harder gears or gear slips, not to worry, it will become smooth as you finish the first 3 services.

    Cheers,

owners manual , 2013 - may states Avoid RPMS above 4500r/min . which in other words is less than 4.5 ----
NO matter how many Cars/Bikes/Trucks/animals . on the road , you must still rely on your ability :D

I'll agree with Shv very much. And will like add one thing, sometimes other people will advice many things about the bike, which might contradict with the service manual(eg- motoman's run in process), in those cases also, I think it is better to stick to the service manual. Experienced members might give some suggestions on this.

Well I think the manual says "For the first 500kms avoid prolonged operation above 4500rpm and till 1000km avoid prolonged operation above 6000rpm".
So dont worry, you can take it above the stated. They only ask you not to do it excessively because it will damage a new engine. Not going above 4.5k rpm at all will also cause damage but in a different way (carbon deposits on cylinder walls and piston).

So rev her up slowly, after warming up, ride normally. Dont worry about your speed, just keep the rpms in mind (all the same ride at a safe speed). Go upto 4.5k rpm in all the gears.
Nothing is gonna happen to the engine. Do it maybe 3-4 times a week. You'll see that the bike becomes better overtime. After 500kms do the same but this time rev up to 6k rpm.
Dont rip just yet. Just be smooth and gradual but exercise your engine. Change your engine oil and get your services done regularly. This bike is built to last. Dont worry it wont break that easily.

              Cheers!!

man.. these bikes are not babies that you have to care about every little detail..
FZ is a beast, which wants us to unleash its power..
i know its better to follow proper run-in period.. but if by any chance you do hit the throttle, its not bad for the engine..
i think its in a way for the engines good health.. you cannot make the engine habitual of a certain working range.. mix it up.. and enjoy your ride.. that's what is important..
have fun and tame the beast, not get scared if i do this, this might happen..
just chill yourself and ride on

                Ride safe and have fun.

                        Get your engine overhauled..
since the bike has done enough.. It might be the time to get it some refreshment..
take the bike to a good mechanic and get it checked.. Many engine parts do get damaged over time..
Also many other parts also have to be replaced over time..

                        Ride safe and have fun.

Ok. Time for internal beautification of the engine and other parts

                          What oil are you using?

Take it to trusted mechanic or go to reliable Yamaha SVC and get the parts checked. I would advise you to stand besides your bike when the parts are checked or opened up.

                          Cheerz!!

Seems like it is not getting enough 'air'. Please get the air filter replaced if it has done 12K under normal conditions or 8K-10K in dusty places.
