I rode to Bangalore from Mumbai in May heat with 2 years old tyre, not a single puncture or blowout or air pressure drop. From my personal experience, the main cause of puncture is incorrect air pressure. I once rode with very low air pressure & instantly got 6 punctures in my rear tire. Fixed them & since then not a single puncture in the rear tyre. I usually check air pressure once a week or alternate.
The condition of the asphalt has an adverse effect on the tyre..
when an already softer tyre is used on hot asphalt, it does affect its performance..
riding in jaipur's hot temp. i get a lot more puntures during summer time than in winters..
    This is my experience..
and ya, you are right about the air pressure.. that's also an important parameter in this case..

    Ride safe and have fun.

this case , he might have not mentioned to you. But do check the plugs to clarify.

Is the back tire so less durable? Performance is great. But sometimes it vibrates after crossing 4K RPM. Is it normal during Run-in??
Mileage till now has been very good. Around 40-42, as per my vague calculation. Will check till it goes down to reserve and tell ya.
No matter what, make it a habit of filling the tyre to right pressure atleast once in 10 days. This practice does help a lot in the long run. Also, slow down when you see gravels, stones, something sharp on the road.

What vibrates @ 4k rpm?? The wheel or the bike?

        Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

              Hi folks,
I need your suggestion here. I'm done with hid on my bike, they served me well with superb illumination and zero worries. I wanna go back to halogen but with a higher rating of 55/60. Am sure many of you would have taken this route. Your experience would be of great help

I think the stock battery won't be able to handle 55/60 bulbs.. Changing the battery to higher amp should be done.. Like 7 apm battery.. The stock one is 5 amp is suppose.. And also the wiring had to be redone ( change to wires to higher capacity grades )

but why you want to change back to halogen from hid..? And drawbacks..?
i myself wanted to get hid's..
your suggestion would be highly helpful as you have been using them..

Just get hold of any car's stock 55w halogen and fit it.It hardly costs Rs.50 for each bulb. If u have Fz16,it can easily use the stock battery to power 1 60/55w bulb. Heck I use 2x35w dual beams HIDs with the stock battery!

ohh.. won't that cause battery problems..
i had asked a mechanic sometimes back about this.. and he told me to first get a bigger battery n then change the bulbs..

Firstly all mechs are not electricians...well neither am I. but its just a harmless bulb and u can try out a few night rides with the 55w bulb before upgrading to a bigger battery. But do check the water level. I have many friends who use Osram/Philips NightVision 60/55w bulbs performing flawlessy with stock battery.

                        Hi,
No need to change battery/wire. It's plug n'play. Make sure you choose the bulb with correct specifications. I have been using 55w bulb (Philips City Vision) since few months no issues so far. Works perfect for highways too. For that matter I used 2 55w Hella auxiliary lamps, didn't face any issues with battery or any other electrical, just care to be taken while using in idle.
Since you have asked, the only problem with HIDs are, they are not easy to repair in case of any issues, this is critical if you going to travel for days out of your city. In case of halogens any mechanic or any auto shop will have it in stock & it takes just 15 mins to replace a blown halogen bulb. If you still want to buy it, buy Osram/Phillips sets, they are more efficient, reliable & withstand vibrations.
I had terrible time with HID during Kokan tour, driving blindly in pitch dark just using parking light. When I came back just replaced it with stock setup, never to put HIDs back again. The HIDs which I used were good, came with warranty. One of the wire was short due to which the set up stopped working.
For me to the certain extent reliability is not the main drawback but it's the replaceability while on the move.

The Philips 55W bulbs have white light or just like the stock? It is a pain to ride with the stock lamps in the rain.

Any good options to change the bulbs?

^ The one which I use is similar to stock but illumination & throw is better.
You can try Osram Night Breaker / Philips Extreme Vision/Power.
