Not to mention the rear end is a total mess now. Although he escaped with minor scratches and thanks to his helmet there were no major incidents.

Now, he has given the bike to service center and the guys there say that they'll need to replace the entire chassis and there is no need to worry since the chassis will be a genuine Yamaha product of Indonesia make. However my concern here is that since the chassis is the most important part of the motorcycle foundation, replacing it with a new chassis (which also includes completely dismantling the bike) will not make the bike as new and smooth as before. I suggested my friend to get the bike fixed and sell it off...

What do you guys suggest? Is it really worth replacing the entire chassis and use the bike for the years to come or just fix the bike and sell it off? I've heard a chassis bend cannot be repaired and the only option is to replace the chassis. Please suggest what do we do now...thanks in advance

Hope your friend is fine. Truck drivers lack road sense and your friend had to pay for it.

Since the rear of the bike has gone kaput, there will be many things to be replaced along with the bent chassis. Tell your friend to get the total estimate of the damage and let him decide. Also, tell him to get some assurance about the ride quality and other things from the SVC guys.

It will be wise enough to get new chassis fitted. Doing thak thak on the bent chassis will add more risk while riding.

    Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Thanks a lot for the information. Will upload my new steed images tomorrow. Just talked with the showroom guys, and they said, hopefully the registration and other documents will arrive next week.

It would be covered by insurance..
except for the labour charges, all other cost should be taken care by the insurance..
it depends on the insurance policy type, but i think most are now fully covered and for the first 2-3 years, we get full recovery during accidents.. If not full, you will get around 90% cash back..
as for the bike, get it repaired and sell off.. Even if the bike would perform well, our mindset gets changed for the ride..
and be thankful to God for sparing his life.. These trucks don't spare anyone..

          Ride safe and have fun.

Thanks buddies, I had been to the service center today and they slapped a quote of 26k including new rear rim, new chassis, new rear plastic panels, rear tyre and brake assembly along with few other parts like indicators, saree guard and other plastic stuff. The front crash guard is screwed and the plastic air vent too is damaged. They said the bike will be in total new condition and won't give any problems in the long run after it has been fixed (we too are hoping for the same)

My friend is flying out of country and his bike would be with me for the next 3 months. For the time being we're convinced that the bike will be trouble free and decided not to sell it off yet. FZ is an excellent machine and a fighter too...I will take good care of it for the time it is with me

            Thanks again folks,

A showroom near to my house (where all brands are available), not and authorized Yamaha showroom. Sure, I will try best to collect all the documents ASAP.

Thanks, it's already in my list, and currently I am in search for an aerosol spray (matt black) can, so that whenever I need (if the paint gets dammaged), I can repaint it to black more than once. For that I need to visit a place in kolkata called Wellington, but currently due to work pressure I was unable to visit there. Once painted to black, will upload the pics

Bro, why dont you take off some part of rear mudguard?
The new fz/fazer series have really a long rear mudguard, that steals the MEAN look of its rear.

Thanks Speedy, we're taking care of the insurance paper work before my friend flies. The bike will be as good as new with brand new chassis, rear rim and miscellaneous new parts. We've decided not to sell the bike
