Good to know, since I often go to Kasba, cause my "in-laws" stay there. I have already talked in a local paint shop about the spay paint, and they will bring that for me in a couple of days. They quoted Rs.125 for the spray can .

The new fz/fazer series have really a long rear mudguard, that steals the MEAN look of its rear.
Yes, I agree with you, that the previous mean looks of the rear is no more there in the new fazer, but, my wife often sits as a pillion with me, and the long rear mudguard does helps to minimize the mud splash. Thus prefer not to modify the rear mudguard, anyways thanks .

Guys, my rear brake pads have gone kaput. Any good after market brake pads available or have to fit in the pads at the svc?

Also, is there any way to check the amount of wear in the front pad?

      Cheerz!!

          Thanks for the help.

I dont know whether the SVC will fit the original Yamaha brake pads or some cheap aftermarket pads

Well, my front disk already has mark's on it. Also, have read somewhere on other forum that, the stock front brake pad easily lasts longer. In the owners manual, they have mentioned on how to check the wear on front pads. But, i am not able to figure it out. If i am not mistaken, the disk is suppose to have those marks on it

original yamaha products are packed in yamaha branded packs.. like this

if the pads come in such packing, then they surely would be original..

and about the front pads.. feel the disc by your fingers, if the lines are more prominent, then its time time change them..

            Ride safe and have fun.

Please don't misunderstand me, but, I have seen the local products are getting packed in Bajaj Original Spare Parts packs, just as mentioned by you in the above for original Yamaha products. This means that even if the packs are original, that doesn't mean the product inside it is also original. Hope you understand the point

If that is the case, then let it be stock.

+1 to what you just mentioned. The issue in Bombay is that, we dont have the Factory Shop anymore. So, have to completely depend on the dealers of Yamaha. Fingers crossed.

can someone tell whether it is essential to use 1.2 liters when changing with oil filter. I have never done it because only 1 liter bottles are available.
I used Castrol minaral oil. Now i am moving to motul 5100. Is it good . How much is it?

Using Motul 5100 15W50 for the past 5 months. Its very good. You will definitely feel the difference in your bike.
My friend who rode it once before using 5100 and after also confirmed that the engine feels much better.

It costs INR 520 /- in bangalore.

                      Cheers!!

Thank you very much. Is it essential to put 1.2 liters when changing oil filters? Do you do that? what is the draining period

1 litre is enough.most of us use that quantity only. U can use the oil for around 2500-2800kms...after that replenish it.

I'm thinking too much or maybe something is wrong. When I start my bike for the first time and ride it,the engine makes quite a harsh/rough sound. But if I start it and ride it again,it becomes quite smooth. Understood it today as I rode using my local helmet instead of the LS2. Do I need to check valve clearance at 10000kms? It has never been touched yet.

Do you warm up your engine before you start riding?

When you ride the first time without warming up, the engine is cold inside and the parts have not expanded to their correct tolerances. Plus the oil is cold and more viscous. That may be the cause of the harshness.
When you start again and ride the engine is probably warm so its smooth.

Always idle the bike for a minute or two for the first start and follow a very sane riding procedure for the first 2-3kms , by that time the bike attains optimum operating temperature and the oil reaches every nook and corner it must reach, now you are free to use the bike to it's full potential.

                              Cheers

Yes I let it warm up for a minute at least.2-3 mins is not possible always. Will try warming it up a bit more before riding. What about valve clearance? Needs adjustment at 10k ODO?
