NGK plugs WITH Spitfire cables do have offer "better" performance.Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Post525 is the price of ngk iridium spark plug for fz.... first the disadvantages: costs almost three times that of normal spark plug.
advantages: significantly longer life (dont know how much), better performance (according to some), and poser value...
personally... what i've felt after installing them... is better throttle response.
feels a bit sharper.
don't know if it helps colds starts... i've never used a kickstart from day one..

it helps in cold starts as the temperature of the spark is increased because of better conduction in the metal....Originally posted by xionite View PostNGK plugs WITH Spitfire cables do have offer "better" performance.

Hi Guys,
My FZ has completed 6K and I am thinking of giving it for service.
I was going through the thread to understand about oil change and which is suitable oil and all but got all confused.
Please help me understand what is an SS oil, Why is all recommending it be used after 5K and how does it help?
Also Tell me how u guys clean your chains? I had neglected it so far
, But better late than never. Please tell me in detail regarding this

I am not sure about performance gains from putting semi synthetic oil in FZ. As far as my experience is concerned i am very happy with Motul 20WX40 mineral oil... usually lasts 2500-3000 kms based on the environment conditions. So have no plans of upgrading to SS oil unless i do track days or something like that.Originally posted by SurajUllas View PostHi Guys,

for lubing the chain, here is the appropriate thread for instructions:
and a video for the same using motul brand: YouTube - Yamaha Fazer chain lubrication
Preferred chain lubricating brands: OKS: 185-200, Motul: 450 - above. Prices may very as i don't exactly remember the correct price. 1 can of lube usually lasts for about good 6 months/12 - 14 rounds of proper spraying.
For cleaning the chain first, you can either use kerosene or Motul Chain cleaner or Jet wash the chains...
The Recommended periodic interval for cleaning and oiling of open chained bikes like FZ is every 500 kms. Lesser if your bike gets exposed to a lot of mud, dirt or rainy area.
cheersA quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P
