    • Guys I'm in a big problem, while returning home from office today suddenly a windy storm build up and a plastic bag came onto my front wheel and got sucked in the braking unit of the front wheel,I didn't got the time to slow down,Later I slowed down and tore off the remaining unsucked part of the bag but a amount of plastic is still in the brake unit and front disk brake has become useless there is no bite while I'm braking what to do please suggest.

i just hope that you havent squeezed the front brake while stopping..... squeezing the brake would have made the plastic to melt and it might have stuck on the pad...
you will have to get the calipers opened up... and then wash the pads with detergent also scrub it lightly and then keep them to dry up naturally..... also wash your disc with detergent water and remove any pieces that might be stuck in the holes of the disc....

my goodness I've traveled to home 5km after that, didn't know what to do and obviously tried applying front brake several times so my brake pads r fried with plastic now?do I have to get new ones?will it be in insurance coverage?if not what will be the cost?I'll arrange to open the unit tomorrow and update the condition.

            dont get so tensed.....

the pads wont be fried.... first get them opened up, see the condition.... and even if you have to change the only thing you will need to change is the pads i dont think the disc would have any kind of damage... the brake pad kit costs around 150 rs....

                      • Guys !....I was washing my bike today, when i saw a strange ' fungus ' like substance on one of the bolt's under the battery on the engine.

At first i thought of it as bird poop...but when i washed away the so called poop..i noticed that the bolt had rusted !!

Now that's unlikely the cause of bird poop, so i opened the side panel covering the battery and i saw that it was leaking.

The clamps or wires connecting the battery have also corroded..I rushed to the nearest battery dealer (AMCO [Lower Parel,Mumbai]) since i have it under warranty...and a bearded fellow told me to give the battery and he would replace it in 1-2 days...

Now im wondering..am i suppose to remove the battery myself ?..is it safe to handle an acid leaking battery ? i do not know how to remove and install a battery again..

The SVC is also far from my place..plus if i ask them to remove then ill have to keep the bike there un supervised...i cant risk my bike to 2k Rs. battery !

                        Any suggestions ?

                          Noobie,

The battery guys itself will remove the battery for you.
If they dont then just look for a local mechanic nearby that place and get it removed. Dont remove the battery with your naked hands (just for safety), use gloves instead.
Ride Hard !!! Ride Safe!!! Enjoy every moment on your machine !!! Cheers....

                          • Peformance FFE for FZ!!

                            Hey all,

after a lot of running around here and there in North East, India, i finally placed my order today for the "Joelised.. Free Flow Exhaust system" for my Yamaha FZ. As per my conversation with Joel Anna, after the money has been received from his end, he usually puts the FFE for batch production and then ships it in two weeks time.

The FFE will look somewhat quite similar like the R15 FFE shown in the pic below.

As posted by me earlier, i am looking at FFE as stage 1 mod. Unlike my previous plan of going for the full mods at one go, i had to resort to this sighting unavailability of leaves from my work schedule. I will try and get all the mods done hopefully by Sept - Oct '11.

In the later part i am also planning to go for a used Yamaha R-15 and go bonkers with full mods... from none other than Joel anna .. yes that's me going crazy!!

I am really really excited now and eagerly awaiting to get my hands on it asap. Will post figures and results soon.

                            • How is FZ

                              HI Guys,
I am going to buy either FZ or the new HH CBZ, but in confusion which one to buy.. I have some querries to resolve before make the decision. Below are my concerns

                              1. Does FZ-16 vibrate? If it is, in around which RPM range? How smooth is the ride?

                              2. How is the gear box, is it cluncky or smooth? Do gears engage easily?

                              3. Does FZ struggle with a pillion, I mean, any noticable power decrease with a pillion?

                              4. What is the average milage?

                              5. Can you guys give me a breakdown in what speed the engine runs with a given RPM, say, What is the speeds at 3k, 4K and 5k in 5th gear?

                              6. Is this bike good for hilly ridings?

                              7. What do your guys think, FZ-16 or new CBZ?? (the reliability, power, control etc..)

I had a test ride with FZ and also with a CBZ, but, I don't think based on that tds I can make a decision coz real world experience will be far different.
So your views will be so valuble for me in deciding which bike to buy.

                              Thanks guys

                                None whatsoever ...

                                2. How is the gear box, is it cluncky or smooth? Do gears engage easily?

This is a known issue , upshifts are super smooth , downshifts are clunky . new parts seem to reduce this a lot ...

                                3. Does FZ struggle with a pillion, I mean, any noticable power decrease with a pillion?

Depends on the weight of the pillion ... , noticable with heavy pillion

                                4. What is the average milage?

Lot depends on the rider here , moderate riding will fetch you anywhere between 37-43kmpl

                                5. Can you guys give me a breakdown in what speed the engine runs with a given RPM, say, What is the speeds at 3k, 4K and 5k in 5th gear?

                                3K- 40kmph
                                4K - 55kmph
                                5K - 70kmph

                                6. Is this bike good for hilly ridings?

Yep with the low end torque its great !!!!

                                7. What do your guys think, FZ-16 or new CBZ?? (the reliability, power, control etc..)

CBZ-X good at the higher end ... FZ16 good in the lower end ... that should make our decision simple enough ...
