guys..what is the effect of using fully-synthetic oil rather than mineral oil during run-in time..what are the damages it cause to the engine..Because one of my friend used that and now having lot of problem like over harshness and noise in the engine..
If anyone know about this problem..let me know the effects and remedies..
And he rode with FS oil approx 350 kms..that too on highway with three stopping intervals..
Thanks in advance..2012 HONDA CBR 250 R C-ABS

Dude, when are you promised your FFE delivery ? Where in mumbai are you planning to install it ?Originally posted by shv18 View Posti am currently awaiting the FFE from Joel.... for me it is stage 1 mod. all final mods post sept... for review for fzgo to first impressions thread
I realy had a serious thought regarding the performance upgrades for our FZ & planned to get it all done by end of this year. But just a few weeks ago something struck me & I meant to discuss it with you.
The amount we are planning to spend on complete set of upgrades is easily enough to get us a 2008 or 09 used R15.
It is most certain that even completely modified FZ wont outrun stock R15. Hence, isn't it worth investing the said amount in getting a used R15 (whose price would definitely fall further because on the probable launch of new R15 in june)
The added bonus is R15 can be further upgraded as & when we can afford later. The only problem here is finding a 10-20 k kms used well maintained R15 & that doesnt seem to be an issue considering the offers available on used bike sale sites online.
Personally I would always prefer FZ over R15 in terms of looks but then performance is equally important & obviousy R15 has far more potential as we all know.
PS: Please no offence to any of the FZ series owners, its just my 2 cents
I'm not sure about the same setup but you can get many such alternatives in local auto streets in mumbaiOriginally posted by abhijitkn View PostHi Stark,

Joel told me he usually ships the FFE within 2 - 3 weeks from the date of confirmation of the order. I would most likely get it installed at the svc itself with along with my upcoming 5th free bike servicing and tip the mechanic with some cash for services rendered
.. it is a simple plug and play so my guess the installation should not take more than 10-15 mins based on the efficiency of the svc mechanic..
regarding the mods..for me i donot intend to sell my fz for atleast next 3 years... its the first bike that i have bought with my own blood and sweat..
anyways as of now it is not even barely a year old although i have already crossed 10,000 kms mark on the odo...
Regardless, i intend to make me FZ a hardcore touring machine so based on retaining it for the above mentioned period, for me it justifies the costs involved. And for obvious reasons, you cannot compare the performance factor of a souped FZ and that of an R15. Both are purpose built machines. R15 as we all know, is an insane Bigger race inspired track bike, whereas FZ is a street bike.
As of now no one has tried the full mods yet so i guess we donot know the full potential of our bikes yet post doktor's operation
. My stock bike as of now does 105 - 108 decently, without crouching, without a pillion and hits 115 kmph after a really really long long time...which is the dreary part.
So let me get hold of the FFE first and experience it and post the results... if the performance is promising then i will go ahead with full scale mods...
you can probably then take a call whether its worth going ahead with the mods on your fz or rather go ahead with a used R15 and do the mods as in when your cash state permits!!
In the long run, i intend to pick up a used R15/ the new one (really getting tempted!!) as my 2nd bike and joelise it completely stagewise.. So FZ will be my touring ride and R15 a crazy pocket rocket!!

I can understand you point of view buddy, even I have worked hard for 1 year for my very first bike i.e my baby FZ & undeniably I have been very happy with the purchase. My heart would never let me get any other bike in replacement for my FZ but the mind keeps wandering for affordable & feasible options. Anyways I would realy wait a couple of months before takiing the leap. If all those mods combined would give me enough power gain to keep up with 120 kmph effortlessly all day ( like R15 ) then BYE BYE R15Originally posted by shv18 View PostWell bro,

Till then I'll be in touch with you as you get your FZ joeled. If you dont mind, I may want to accompany you for the installation of FFE from Yamaha SVC.
Surely you wont be allowed to do the mod officially in any SVC but I know a mechanic from Kamala Yamaha very well so let me know if you need any help with that.

currently i am not in mumbai.. busy on a project in the north east india.. but yeah you are most welcome to join me for the ffe installation.Originally posted by mitz View PostI can understand you point of view buddy, even I have worked hard for 1 year for my very first bike i.e my baby FZ & undeniably I have been very happy with the purchase. The last time i had a conversation with joel... a souped up joelled fz completely decimated an RTR 180 (stock bike i presume, who's top speed if i am correct is 125 kmph on the odo)... and the guy who got it souped is not from xbhp.... so my guess the Joelled FZ's top speed should be well above 130-135 kmph+ and may be playing around with sprocketing after the doktor's advice even higher. But lets not speculate right now...
stage 1: post FFE installation results are what i am concerned about..

db Cutter
Do not forget about db cutter. As per the discussion with Joel, the db cutter needs to be removed to experience full performance gain. But within City limits I refarin myself from doing so especially when you are in Mumbai.Originally posted by shv18 View Posttry having a word with Joel ([email protected]) before you intend to go for daytona kit. i have already posted long back on this thread about kits available from his end. Performance, pricing & reliability wise, offerings from Joel's end are better. Full mods will fetch you 5 bhp increase and all in all your bike would be making 19 bhp (14 bhp stock + 5 bhp by mods) and using his dark arts your bike's FE will also increase.
Personally i don't see the point of spending 36k+ on Daytona just to get 1-2 bhp more and stupid visual aids. the stock disc brake is more than enough to take care of everything.
Me and a fellow xbhp member RanjithMN have already ordered a Free Flow exhaust from Joel.. so once i get a hold of it, will post results.
cheers,

Bro DB cutter/killer is standard with all FFEs from Joel's end unless one has specifically requested not to include it in the kitty. and yes i do agree with you especially in metro cities like mumbai where cops are always on the lookout for an easy cash cow, DB cutter is a must.Originally posted by abhijitkn View PostDo not forget about db cutter. anyways for those who are looking for official confirmation of kits from Joel's end, the website is up and running now :.Welcome To Race Concepts.:
However, it doesnot cover the extensive work that is carried out on your bike like altered port geometry, head mods etcs... all those details can be taken from joel himself.
For fellow mates down in South, the official address of Joel's secret layer (or not so secret anymore
!!!):
Race Concepts
168, T.C. Palya Main Road, Near Reliance Fresh, Krishnarajapuram,
Bangalore - 560 036.

No need to mention it specifically. The db cutter can removed & inserted back as needed.
