try having a word with Joel ([email protected]) before you intend to go for daytona kit. i have already posted long back on this thread about kits available from his end. Performance, pricing & reliability wise, offerings from Joel's end are better. Full mods will fetch you 5 bhp increase and all in all your bike would be making 19 bhp (14 bhp stock + 5 bhp by mods) and using his dark arts your bike's FE will also increase.

Personally i don't see the point of spending 36k+ on Daytona just to get 1-2 bhp more and stupid visual aids. the stock disc brake is more than enough to take care of everything.

Me and a fellow xbhp member RanjithMN have already ordered a Free Flow exhaust from Joel.. so once i get a hold of it, will post results.

How can both performance and FE go up simultaneously, there must be some catch. What's the price of his mods?

Bro,

it is the most common misconception that souping up bikes will result in reduction of performance.

Now if i tell you that just by simply putting up a performance exhaust from joel's end will result in 10% bump in power and FE would you believe it? The primary reason being a well designed FFE allows the exhaust gases to exit better compared to a stock exhaust, which has been designed to keep the exhaust note down thus, resulting more back pressure to engine thus reducing efficiency. So a well designed FFE actually increases the performance of the bike without compromising on the FE part.

A stock bike FZ engine's air & fuel compression ratio is 9:1:1 if i remember correctly. Whereas with Joel's big bore kit, the expected compression ratio shoots upto 10:1:1 or higher.. so in short for layman terms if your stock bike was doing 65kmph at say 5000 rpm, now because of increase in the engine efficiency post mods, your bike will do the same 65 kmph at 4500/4000 rpms... thus the engine needs to work lesser for providing same power at lower revs resulting in lesser fuel consumption.

The other side to it is.. if you indeed want your bike to be modded just for performance sake and don't care about FE, that can also be done from Joel's end..

Integrated Tail Lights for FZ

Has anybody tried installing integrated tail lights for FZ-16/S? These are available for FZ1 but not for FZ-16/S. The picture is below:

I hear the FZ does relatively poor performance at the Higher/Mid Revs.
is that a serious turn-off factor

A Mileage Run

Since none replied for my query a few pages back
i decided to check it my self after riding FZ with just 1 ltr of petrol
and upshifting at 3-3.5k not crossing 45kmph and avaage speed of 42 kmph
i got a mileage of 49 KMPL it was very boring to ride the FZ like that but in the city its ok

joel performance upgrades of fz

hi.. i was reading page no. 922 and some fellow xbhpians were writing about joel's performance upgrades for fz. Has any one tried it and can please anyone write the experience after using the upgrades.. (the question may seem a little off topic though).
Please some one write or link me up to the page that has the review for fz series (not for r15 etc, specifically for fz ).. thanks

i saw new colours of fz16 ..... one was full white with only red side panels .... was looking hot !

Instead of offering a new breed of FZ having 180 or 200 cc, Yamaha is playing the karizma/pulsar marketing strategy of paint/looks/graphics..

It may be because they are planning to launch R125.. which might be a bit cheaper than R15 so it will surely hurt the sales of FZ..

And even if others launch 100s of versions of the bikes... FZ will remain Lords of the Street.. though even i would love to see it in 200 CC series..

As we can see the market is evolving and there are several rumors of "R15,R25's and FZ250's...so wait.
