are you using sufficient force to shift up , coz it needs more than a slight tap to go from 1st to 2nd , for other gears it's ok ...

hmm.. i luv 2 shift gears soft n smooth. n mayb its causing that problem. my all x-bikes were responding juz fine to my actions. i hate any kind of sound coming from gearbox. i like 2make every gearshift a perfect gearshift. i feel that either im failing short 2 know d trick or d gearbox sux. any kind of unusual sound from engine, body, gearbox makes me angry.Originally posted by nand15 View Postgearbox also has to set bud , don't worry it will all go away in due time ... but from 1st to 2nd is something new to me .. you are getting a false neutral , so

hi nick,
can you tell me when did you purchased your bike ?
how many servicing have yo done?
the problem might be because you are used to your smooth shift of your previous bikes
i don't feel there is any problem with the gear box
or when you have your 1st service tell the problem to yamaha peopleLast edited by malikkhan095; 09-29-2009, 07:33 PM.ADRENALINE PUMPS, SOUL FLY'S, WHEN I AM ON MY 2 WHEELS

Everyone loves to get that perfect and smooth shift , don't they ? ... just that especially while goin from 1st to 2nd , more than a gentle tap is necessary , coz otherwise you get a half shift which slots the bike in neutral ... you will definitely get the hang of it , coz the fz really doesn't give you a lot of false neutrals .People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

Motoman Break In
Hey everyone, I read many things about the Motoman Break-In method, and was very much intrigued to know the truth and all.. so...
I DID THE MOTOMAN BREAK-IN FOR MY FZ...
I told my big bro to come with me as pillion (since he is 80 kilos) and me 65kgs so the bike was fairly loaded.. and then ripped my monster in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, with acceleration and deceleration. I went till 7k rpm in these gears. Must say it has loads of torque to scare the hell out of my bro, he was desperately tryin to hang on with the bike, the pulling power is amazing!!!
After some time well i could smell the metal from the engine.. and by that time i had to go for some work so did only 30kms till now, still some to go with it, after which i will change the engine oil and clean the filter (or replace it).
My bro also rode it, he has only one thing to say..
"ITS AN SUV OF A BIKE"now thats what i call a compliment....

P.S.: Actually it was the bike who ripped us!!!

From July this year.

None,
never thought about them needing to be replaced.
my dealer quoted 1.2k for it ??
Yup, thats I paid for it as well. Totally worth it for the angelic glow this puts out.
The gearbox does nt SUCK! It s butter smooth. Well congrats on new FZ as it is new the gear box will need to get set, the gear will just pop in place as you run a couple of 100 kms more. Up shift without and hesitation it will slot smoothly.Originally posted by nick192 View Posthmm.. i luv 2 shift gears soft n smooth. n mayb its causing that problem. my all x-bikes were responding juz fine to my actions. i hate any kind of sound coming from gearbox. i like 2make every gearshift a perfect gearshift. i feel that either im failing short 2 know d trick or d gearbox sux. any kind of unusual sound from engine, body, gearbox makes me angry."I set out running but I take my time, a friend of the devil is a friend of mine. Overheating a brand new engine is a surefire way to destroy it. Hope, the cylinder walls have not been glazed! Did you even stop for breaks after short bursts?Originally posted by nikeindevil View PostHey everyone, I read many things about the Motoman Break-In method, and was very much intrigued to know the truth and all.. so...
