how bad were the potholes? my friend and me ride in Bangalore believe me one rain and road potholes are exposed, but then i take precaution of avoiding potholes or riding slow. What i really do not like are tyres easily prone to puncture and mushroom fix and all, Yamaha should done an overall research for citywide conditions then apply. No crash guards also made available, even considering indian road sense. chain rusting is so common, my chain got rusted after 3 days of service. cluth lever broke in half when bike fell on speed of 10, foot peg broke on the same speed although it cost Rs 35/-, this proves build quality is cheap. they only concentrated on a great handling and styled bike. But not things which matter in long term. I do not use bike for long distances i make short trips so i am ok with it, my frnd uses it for long travel, he is ok with it if not very happy.Originally posted by satan69in View Postactually the alloys are cheap..when i rode my fz over a pothole near my area my rim was bent....the same pothole when i forgot and went on my p220 nothing happened...with my fz and my kid brother's r15,we had to bend the rims back in shape number of times...and i finally had to sell off my fz when i couldnt take it anymore..fz is a good street bike, but the parts of it arent up to the mark
ever heard of paint on the tank gong away cause of constant jeans rubbing??? my frickin paint got erased cause i ride too long ot seems and due to constant movement of my gear shifting leg...lolz...
if you go to pearl yamaha at kondapur, the service manager Mr.Murthy says that many bikes both fz and r15 major complaints are the rims..Last edited by Mindgrinder; 09-27-2009, 04:28 PM.

Err crash guard is available for the FZ16 for quite some time now. You have to get it installed yourself though.Originally posted by Mindgrinder View Posthow bad were the potholes? my friend and me ride in Bangalore believe me one rain and road potholes are exposed, but then i take precaution of avoiding potholes or riding slow. Hi Guys ,
joining in to the quality of the fz alloy discussion , I have only positive things to say ... I ride through some of the crater ridden roads of bangalore and have been constantly doing so as it's my route back from college , my bike has taken the beating and still runs absolutely like a charm ... *touchwood* ... just finished second service few days back and at 2.5k km on the ODO , so if it can take it for this long , then one sudden pothole should not be so destructive , i felt ... maybe other factors are also involved for the alloy to bend , I've heard that it should break rather than bend , in a thread where one member had a rough crash ... just my opinion and experience guys ...
P.S : bangalore guys , where do you guys buy engine oil ? In J.C Road , one of the mechs said on mobil1 is actually pure synth , the others are all just semi-synth , couldn't believe it , so just wanted to confirm with you guys .People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

hmmm ... you ok bro ? got a pic of the handle ? otherwise it would be difficult to assess exactly what the damage is ... but whatever the case I believe the SVC can fix it or replace it anyway ...People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

the new FZ(with Carbon body(not released yet) seems to have a better stronger handle bar...if you can maybe wait try replacing with that.Originally posted by skyknight19 View Posthi guys,

ya man i am okay... havn't got the pic, but the right side has bent couple of degrees towards the rider, you can easily feel the difference when you ride the bike.Originally posted by nand15 View Posthmmm ... you ok bro ? got a pic of the handle ? otherwise it would be difficult to assess exactly what the damage is ... but whatever the case I believe the SVC can fix it or replace it anyway ...
