    nope not to me atleast....

    5. I have not put any grips on to the handle. Finding the std a bit hard and uncomfortable. Any suggestions for a good grip?

please put in grips helps in long rides as well as traffic...

    6. Seating is a bit uncomfortable if I sit a bit behid. ( I am 5.11" ) It's ok if I sit very up close to the tank. Any good seat covers should help me out? suggestions?

there is a mesh cover on the market that suits the Fz ...

    7. I so hate the front number plate, spoils the beauty of the bike. Is there a rule to keep it at all? Can we just not knock it off? :P

Depends on wer u live and wer u travel to ....ask around...like wer i live i could have gotten away with a painted number plate ...but not wer i drive to on working days....

      • Firstly congrats...

        1. Awesome looks and great power/rev up.
        No arguments here ;-)

        2. Pillion riders actually felt more comfortable than my earlier bike passion plus
I dont know about passion plus, but the FZ is only like just about acceptable on the pillion seat (lot of others would agree on this)

        3. Engine is sooo silent!

Huh??? I dont know why I find this hard to believe??? Are you sure. I actually felt the engine was decently loud. Or do you mean at idle.

        4. A bit worried about my formal shoes since I will need to gear up and down using the same lever. Anybody faced this problem? Any work arounds?

I dont have any issue with my shoes. (there arent exactly formal but i havent had any problems.) For me a work around would be Dont wear formal shoes

        5. I have not put any grips on to the handle. Finding the std a bit hard and uncomfortable. Any suggestions for a good grip?

Upon initial riding I did find it hard. Dont worry you'll get used to it... I did. Just give it 10-15 days and then decide...

Same issue with me. Advice is dont sit a bit behind, coz on hard braking you'd slide forward and then you know what will happen... The mesh cover suggested by k2cool is also good. No first experience from me, though... (yet to get it...)

In B'lore the law states that both plates must be visible. And the FZ air intake is below the HL hence they couldnt put it there. I've seen lots of dudes putting stickers. But here's an idea. How about putting the plate perpedicular to the front mudguard so that its readable side ways. Like the old Enfields. I thought it was cool, kinda retro feel, but I dont know how to get it done. the mud guard is attaced to the front tyre, so any riveting would be really difficult...

            • My 2k km experience

I bought mine on November 26, 2009 after failed attempt of getting a Honda Dio [very much obsessed with it].

I have been riding a 1994 model Kinetic and some unicorns and a Glady.

Mileage is anywhere from 43 [seems they have preset this] to 53.

Handling is unbeateable and the looks are superb. still stunning at many poses.

Done 1k km in about two weeks and got it serviced two weeks back. About service, its really pathetic. Most of the things in the list is skipped. No chain cleaning. They over tytened my chain causing grinding sound which I followed up next day only to hear it's common with all FZ. They were not even ready to loosen it. I bought my out wrench and loosened it with the recommended 30-40-mm play. Regarding the battery, they filled it till brim. Our Glady battery was dead just because of this. Cells get short and will die real fast. that dumbo was not ready to hear anything. He was saying it we miss the next service you will be safe with the extra water and most of them will bubble out. so you are safe. What a kind of people. They washed the bike with water and diesel and was not waxed and the water dried on the tank with dirt.

Paid 275 bucks and escaped from there. Cleaned the chain with diesel though it is not recommended.

Now after 2k km gear started getting tight thanks to the high quality Yamalube.

Today had the first accident of my FZ caused by a bloody auto driver causing me to hit down a poor biker. Almost 3k estimate for that Discover. My handle was bent. tyre was leanin to the left and steering column was jerking. Called up Yamaha ppl and sed the issue. They said it will cost you atleadt 5k to get your bike back on road. After hearing this I took the rightward going bike to friends house and went directly to my distant cousins Honda workshop. He adjusted the column. kicked the shocks and straightened the handle with denting hammer.

Now my Barricade is back on road normal. Only prob is a slightly bent handle. Planning to change it after getting the Discover back on road.

Guys , for this little problem , what i'm doing now is , using a wristband over the region of the shoe used to shift gears , costs max 30rs , i generally use this only for formals , not really bothered about casual shoes ...

Whoa.. Take care dude. hope no one was hurt. But Man... Yamaha is quite pricy on repairs.... Whatever happened to the good ol' 0 maintenance RX100... yeah going to a trusty mechanic is the best option in these cases. I'm yet to find one though... Where are you from. Which dealer...

The Discover guy was bit hurt with bruises in hands, knee, foot and shoulder. and he fell on his head. Luckily he was safe. I was doing 20s and I was spared. A small scratch in my finger.

I am from Trivandrum and bought and service th bike from Hilton Yamaha. Muthoot Yamaha is the biggest dealer and got better workshop setup. But they are very much arrogant and ignorant. Never do work properly nor take our feedback. But convincing enough to make us think that they are right. I already have spare parts issue with them and was in fight with them. So chose smaller and better Hilton. Customer relation is good, but service is bad. Service advisor here is also a good guy good enough to convince us, but the work quality is bad. Hilton Service Center is 1.5 storey high above their Hyundai workshop and only a narrow track leads to the workshop. I am not confident enough to ride down that way. Customer lounge there is like being unused for 10 years. full dirt and yucky. The cashier lady sits between 2-3 planks of decayed wood and actually its hard to spot her . Needs lots and lots of improvement. Both of them still dont accept cards. We gotta carry in cash.

                          • Another thing- Is it possible to use color changing LEDs like this one in the console?

YouTube - 5mm Full Spectrum Color Changing LED

And a little change in circuit like for 0-3k rpm - Blue, 3k-5krpm - Green, 5k-7k rpm - Yellow n 7k-10k rpm - Red?? Since the RPM indicator is a digital one, hence we can use the signal sent to the LCD display to select the color of the LED, isn't it??
