Simple common sense.. And by the way i myself was present at the time of my headlight modification.. and the electrical mechanic guaranteed me of complete security to my battery and even that no kinda loadd on my electrical system at all...
    For this safety of my bike electricals.. and battery.. i am willing to pay an additional 300 to 400 rs.. even if he charges me some what extra.. BUT FULL AND PERMANENT SOLUTION.
    so what parts did your famous mechanic change ? did he install some relays or has he increased the battery charging rate ?

      I got electrical work done from a local mechanic famouss in jaipur. No Simple serially connecting bike wires. He used sprockets(or sockets not know exact term!, new wiring, double headlight supporting bulb wiring holders and some new wires.. No cutting and damaging my bike electricals. He just replaced the existing bulb sprockets(single ones) with the new sprocket(supporting double headlights).. Whole electrical items costed around Rs 400 +labour cost rs 150=RS550.
      but the work done was totally proper..!! end excellent. you cant say and spot any kinda difference in bike.. For getting this work done in Jaipur. people may contact me through my profile..
      Hi Chinmay,

      Congrats for ur new machine. I did feel that only one headlight at a time was a lil disappointing but its only look wise. Been riding for more than a month now and never felt the need to have both lights ON. Ya people do tell me ke KAANI lagti hai bike and all but its ok, I am happy with it. I someone wants to see the bike with both lights on I just press the pass switch for a few secs.
      I dont mean to disappoint you but there would be quiet a few potential FAZER buyers reading this thread and the message is :
      Functionality wise one headlight at a time is good enough.

          Buddy... did't we ever studied about Serial and Parallel connections in our physics.. ???
          Thats The change that has been changed with my bike electricals..!!
          The exact PArts newly used are:-
          1. A spocket.(Square cubicle box type)
          2. 2 double wiring supporting bulb holders..
          2. Some new wires.

          Guys.. this solution increased the power of my headlights by almost 30 % .(Now its super bright with no changes in the original bulb)
          My advice is.. Because the bike is new.. wait for some time till car/bike electrical mechanics get used to this bike's system and then go for the kill.!!
          In my case the mechanic was an intelligent one with his theory and practicals at top notch.
          He had already worked on 10-12 fazers prior to mine.. (he had studied the complete system off circuit design).

              Thanks buddy for your well wishes..
              but using 1 headlight as given or changing two both is a personal perspective.
              i like mine with both on..
              And if some cutting or damage or say chedchaad was being done with my bike for the change.. i would have never gone for it..
              But because i found the solution good enough.. so i did it.. By the way i myself is an engineer.

                well buddy yehi to problem hai.. my yamaha dealer is not providing me with the leg guard.. and the more so idot mechanic there is saying ki leg guard on the fazer is not even possible because of its fairing(i know he is wrong because i hav seen pics of fazer with leg guards). Whatever you have done, the fact is that your bike now runs a 70W load instead of the 35W load. How long since the mod is done? And do you drive in traffic, where rpm < 3k rpm most of the time? If yes, I doubt this thing will work without the battery discharging.

                  And if it does work, it means Yamaha has put some generous safety margins in the alternator's designed power output!

                  Let us know after a week!

                  • yes althaugh its has just been .. 4 days till now.. but lets see... i hav full confidence on this measure.. all else the time will tell. if it still works for me even after 30 days from now on. I think then we hav a jackpot solution.

                          Lets study some physics now.

                          Assuming bike battery voltage = 12V

                          Each Bulb wattage = 35W
                          Calculating Resistance(R) of 1 Bulb:
                          Power(P) = Current(I) x Voltage(V);
                          35W = I x 12 V
                          I = 35/12 A = 2.9 A
                          R = V/I = 12/2.9 = 4.14 Ohm

                          Case 1: Both Bulbs in serial connection:
                          R = R1 + R2 = 4.14 + 4.14 = 8.28 Ohm
                          I = V/R = 12/8.28 = 1.45 A
                          Power required by battery:
                          P = V x I = 12V x 1.45 A = 17.5W

                          Power Supplied to each 35W bulb = 17.5 / 2 = 8.75
                          Inference: Both bulbs run at 1/4 Illumination, i.e. Reduced illumination as compared to stock, decrease in battery discharging rate 17.5W as compared to 35W

                          Case 2: Both Bulbs connected in Parallel:
                          1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2
                          (Cutting the Carp)
                          R = 2.07 Ohm
                          I = V/R = 12/2.07 = 5.8 A
                          Power required by battery:
                          P = V x I = 12V x 5.8A = 70W
                          Power Supplied to each 35W bulb = 70 / 2 = 35W
                          Inference: Both bulbs run at full illumination with improved visibility but with increased battery discharge rate 70W instead of 35W.

                          Conclusion: If Yamaha hasn't considered that users will be doing such mods, you are running towards deep shit (Dead battery + no kick starter + Middle of the night)
                          Advice is a form of nostalgia.
                          Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
