I had noticed one thing recently .. Had done 6500 Kms on my bike and did 3 services . I was using synthetic oil worth 620 bucks till now

Gear shift was a bit hard on my bike.. and False neutrals were there occasionally. On Third service I asked svc not to change my Engine OIL and I did it myself after the service .

I can see that When I poured the 1.1 L synthetic oil fully , the engine was filled and it came more than the Max level on the DIp Stick. I just left it like that..

And surprisingly after riding 25 + Kms , the Gear shift started getting slick smooth with the tak tak sound while shifting also gone .

Does Filling engine oil has any effect on gear shifts ..??? is the components lubricated by the same engine oil ..??

    which oil did you use

ya engine oil has effect on the gear shift

    MY QUESTION

done 8000km on my bike with 4 services
in every services svc guys have changed the oil(yamaha lube 180 rupees)

now on 15-16 october i will be giving it for servicing
should i say them not to change engine oil

and change the engine oil by my self

    by castrol power 1 racing

can i use castrol power 1 racing in my fz 16

how many km does it lasts

and tell me the cost too

and by the 2nd gear choking i mean it will come to a halt if i dont engage the clutch....or for that matter it even stops when i start after stopping at a traffic signal in first gear.....
i dont think it shud halt at 10kmph in 2nd gear too....
      something's seriously wrong....

I agree with u alex...dunno wat to do....but now i am sure that the SVC guys are taking us for a ride by shrugging off their responsibility by saying that its normal...
and when i ask them to test ride other bikes they rather "we cant give u other's bike to ride but we ourselves can go for a hike on those bikes"..

One more thing....today i checked my spark plug...it was black on one side of the tip and white on the other side....
i am totally baffled...whats the meaning of this uneven discoloration?????

Regarding the top speed discussion my bike never crossed the 90 mark...it chokes or dies after that

COME ON SENIORS AND OTHERS...I WAS EXPECTING U GUYS TOO WUD BE HELPING ME OUT WITH UR SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTS.....
is your bike brand new with no servicing done:

bro my advice would be that you check for other (different) yamaha service station at your place and see how they react

2nd gear problem might be because you are not used to the gear shift of fz ( my advice wait and see you get accustomed to your gear box)

if not solved do the above mentioned advice

yaa spark plug of mine has also changed the color
i would be probably changing in my next servicing

ya i have some battery problem and some starting problem too some times other things are ok

If grippers do help, any specific ones to use
Ditto problem with me..numbness of hand...pain in palm etc etc...so much so..that many times I used to jerk my hand while riding the bike..but anyways..I am free from all that issues..will suggest you to take some time..you will get adjusted with the handling of the bike.

It has been a significant change both in gear shifts and drivability , when I did it my self by pouring the entire content
what oil are u using .
even i changed the oil myself along with oil filter ,i had to use 2botles yamalube
,the oil level is now maximum, but gears are not shifting properly specially downshifting frm 5 to 1 in full slow speed ,is anyone else having this prob,

if the guys at YAMAHA are not helping you, better take it up with the higher authorities or go to another service center, because your probs are genuine.
The FZ shouldn't struggle to get to 100 anyway.and try one thing...if you dont know anyone with a FZ,go to their showroom and get a TEST ride or request some customer to allow you to take ride.

            Best of Luck
Yes...i think i shud take it up with the higher authorities...coz the next service station is pretty far...like 25 kms....doesnt make sense if u can straighten up the current SVC guys...
And i wil try to get my hands on some other FZ for sure....thnx
            cheers.....

hey dude ..this question has been answered many times before....

u need not worry about tht sound...it comes from the silencer....somwhere from the catalytic converter....

its pretty much normal and it comes from all the bikes

                • Guys,

My FZ has done 9800 kms. Before my 4th service, bike shows some missing. When i take my bike for 4th service, Yamaha service technician has told me that by cleaning the carb it will be ok. After cleaning that, when the odo shows more than 80km speed, engine stops automatically. (While going to reserve, what engine is doing same hit is happening). Can u pls suggest me why its happening? Even daily i have to take my bike to service centre. Really fed up!!!!!!

                  • Seat Locking

                    Hi guys,

I guess I am the newest member of the FZ-16 club here. I have a small issue.. Yesterday I opened my bike seat to take out the tool kit... But when I tried to put back the seat..it did not lock... I hit it quite hard, still didn't hear the locking sound...Is there some problem or it needs to be pressed really hard ?

                      • Missing Problem

                        Hi Guys,

I was wondering if theres something wrong with my bike..but now after many of us has reported this problem..can we find some specific and certail solution to this problem?

In the morning (when engine is cold), i dn xperience any big problem, however if i consistently face heavy traffic, even at first gear my bike stops at 4-8 km speed.. it cant handle a consisten movement at this speed. This is more prominent in second gear..and in traffic, i just cannot stay at second gear..

I got my bike serviced few days back and reported the same problem to YSC guys.. One of them cleaned the spark plug and corrected the gap (sayn it was a little less)..i test drove it, and it looked fine that day...but i am still facing this problem now. YSC guys told me that carborator must be open only in case if u are xperiencing some MAJOR issue (nonetheless they seemed reluctant) .. My bike is 8500 kms old now.

                        Xperts plz help yaar!

you have to slide the seat towards the tank then press it downwards to lock it.its very simple and very easy.

Yeah friend, the same thing happened to me when I first bought my fz 16. You have to arrange the seat such that the front hinge is under the seat notch and then locate the hinge of the lock before you hit, and hit with fist hardly. Don't worry, the seat is extremely durable. You can change this arrangement for rs. 200 at the local mechanic
                            Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.
