Hi to all xbhpians wanted to share some more info.......

Well thanks to this thread I changed my driving style to the recommended one for my FZ-S i.e. shifting up at 4500 rpm instead of 4000 rpm and down shifting at 2500 rpm instead of around about 1500 rpm or so........that was one month back now reporting at 3060 kms on odo the bike firstly returned 42 up from 40 kmpl but I just completed my first highway trip yesterday driving constantly between 50-70 km/hr (though most of the times I was at 70 km/hr) from delhi to panipat. And now amazingly the bike is giving 50 Kmpl.........I was just astonished that my FZ-S upon being driven at 70 odd most of the times sipped fuel so lightly!!! My Earlier CBZ had returned in the region of 20-25 kmpl on my previous college trips and the vibes and noise from the engine was just way too but this machine is simply awesme!!!!! and the FE has made me fell love with it even more...........I still remember yesterday putting my head to the petrol tank just to hear those beautiful smooth notes of the engine with just the window and road noise being the things I could hear.......although the ride was a bit uncomfortable with the standard seats which was the only sore point...........But what is bothering me is the thing that only in its first trip to highway how come the bike is returning such nice FE figures??? Guys kindly help me to know if its ok for it to give such nice figures of above 50 kmpl or is there something fishy........the bike is still going the same ultra smooth and refined way as it was since I got it first on 19th July this year..... Simply loving my bike till then but do guys do lemme know if its ok!!!!

No surprise in it. My R15 returns me 48kmpl if I go easy on the throttle&speed between 80-100kmph on highways.
Even then for city I feel 4K RPM is the right shift.

      • SHAMANTHNV@ 35-40-45 kmpl is a common thing in between fz owners...it varies a lot depending on ur riding condition, the amount of clutch and brake u apply, and the way u change ur gears on each rpm...so dont get panic, when ur de lord of the streets thn dont consider ur bikes mileage...

Shifting up means do we hav to shift to 5th gear after 4500rpm..and down shift to 3rd gear at 2500 rpm.....is it so???

And ofcourse great looks. It has great Startup, It never failed to start up till now. On Flip side its low on milage. I used to drive RX-100 before, mileage is same as before.

Looking forward to have a good interaction with fellow FZ owners.

Welcome to xbhp sham! The FZ does inherit a lot of charecteristics of the RX.

Got xbhp stickers delivered today, I stuck it in the rear above the mud guard just below where that Yamaha logo is.

Ya right, you can get better mileage riding slow. And i ride mostly from my home to office which has huge traffic and have to break and change gears constantly. And after riding RX100 for 8 years i cannot resist myself to ride slow.

              • Hey guys just wanted to share a problem that I have been facing with my machine. Well its just 2 weeks and few days old so don't think its a wear n tear problem.

The engine cut off switch is what i use constantly at signals to save petrol. Well ytd while i was at a signal the switch refused to turn on.after several tries it finally did turn on but gave me quite a scare.I have now figured out how to operate the switch. If i bang it in hard as in press the whole way in it doesnt engage.Only when i press it in about 3/4ths of the way does the red engine choke light come on actually enabling the engine.

Any1 else facing this problem??? Any solutions.Already got it to the SVC.They replaced a tiny pin in the switch and it worked fine for 2 days but now back to the same scenario

To ride or not to ride?? is a....
                very very stupid question....

As soon as it comes to reserve, fill 1 litre&the no.of kms.it takes to come to reserve again will be the accurate mileage.

Hi Friend, ya Charateristic of the bike is too close to RX-100. It was so easy to adjust. Here are some difference.
                                * Intiall rocketing pickup of RX-100 is missing here in 1st gear.
                                * Riding doubles is lot more easier in FZ, you wont feel that extra weight. coz of 50cc extra.
                                * Rear Brake of RX-100 is better than FZ. If not for superior front disc brake FZ would not have stopped.
*Turning Radius of RX-100 is better than FZ.
*Headlights power of FZ is very less compared to 12V converted headlight of my RX-100. Have to do some urgent change of this FZ bulb. I had gone to Shivanasamudra in mysore road comming back i was bit late, In the bangalore mysore double road i could not see much. I feel its too dangerous to ride with this light in single road highways. You will be fully blinded. I dont know why they are spreading the light soo much without much intensity.
                                *FZ has better roadgrip.
