After cleaning that, when the odo shows more than 80km speed, engine stops automatically. (While going to reserve, what engine is doing same hit is happening). Can u pls suggest me why its happening? Even daily i have to take my bike to service centre. Really fed up!!!!!!
    Guys! No post regarding this?

    • ^^^ @Swas, if the carb is checked thoroughly and the problem still persists, did they check the ignition mechanism? the coil, the cables, the CDI, transformer, spark plug???

All these years, we learned that:-->

More air less fuel = high performance & mileage, less emissions but a hot engine,
Less Air More Fuel = Sluggish performance, cooler engine, less mileage, more emissions, etc...
More Fuel with sufficiently more air can give you high performance. Without more fuel more air won't give you that boost. Fuel is the one that burns to produce energy. More air is required (with more fuel) because the fuel needs that much more oxygen to burn properly.

The reason why engine heats up when there is more air & less fuel is more because of less lubrication (that is provided by fuel) than anything else.

Just think about it - why does only a K&N air filter with no up-jetting or a clogged air filter affect your performance & topend.

it say Top Speed for FZ 16 is 132kph

Is it Possible to Reach that Speed in Stock FZ
I have reached Top Speed of only 110 KPh in my FZ, never had a Road to push more than that.

That review may not be correct. Trust me on this. Most R15's and P220's don't do a true 132 KMPH so easily.

If you are able to do 110 KMPH on your FZ then you are just about near the limits. You might get a 5 KMPH more on a longer empty stretch but beyond that is a once-in-a-while-somewhere story.

          • @ speedy_prabu:

no! a stock FZ16 cannot hit a true 136 kmph!

i don't own an FZ... but the quickest i've managed going on it is an indicated 115 kmph...

and that took a while n some dedicated crouching.

              • Finished 2k kms on me FZ and last night decided to push the bike a bit and I took the bike almost to the red line in second gear and popped into 3rd the bike took popped a small wheelie and took off like a rocket again took the bike to about 8.5k rpm in 3rd and i could see the speedo counter upwards very fast. In a matter of 250 - 300 mtrs i had accelarated from a slow rolling 15 kmph to 90 kmph and by this time I ran outta road. Wow i just love this bike for what it does. And the engine was sounding brutal at that RPM.

                    -

at higher revs, more fuel will also be required to facilitate the extra combustion, so without it, top end performance will be somewhat sluggish. however, more air results in quicker combustion, hence the quicker initial responses and low end accleration. i hope i'm correct though.

the same sort of thing used to happen on my friend's p150, and his mechanic said there was a problem with the "diaphragm" inside the carburettor. He replaced it, and it became fine. I don't know if its the same problem in your case, might just wanna check with your mechanic/SVC.

Yeah they tweaked the AFR, but manually.

The Chain play is alright, I have checked that many times. My point about the Chain is generic for Fuzzys and not specific to my bike alone.

Even if no noise is there, you can get them checked. Tappets should be adjusted very ACCURATELY with the proper company certified measurement numbers & tools, and not manually. Manual adjusting rarely gives optimum results...
What exactly do you mean by tappets?

My bike is about 15K KMs old, I hope its not because of age..with time the pick may have reduced??

Can people with 12K+ on their Odo let me know if they experience drop in pickup (and mileage? )

Well, with my stock FZ I've reached a top speed of 125 kph while on Pune-Satara highway. Couldn't go beyond that coz of a slow truck overtaking another snail truck . I was leaning on the tank and had full throttle on. It takes some time for FZ to gain the speed while on full throttle. You've to build the speed. In case you get a really long empty highway, you can check it out yourself. But just be patient with your machine as it'll take time to reach that figure.

The more I read, the more I feel my bike has a problem. My 117 was on a real empty stretch...and still empty just that bike was stuck on 117. After that I just let go !!
