I had to pull over & then i tried restarting the bike but it did'nt. I tried Choke, restarted the engine kill switch, adjusted fuel knob to reserve & all possible methods I could think of & then after a few minutes of trouble my bike came to life. Rode it happily for next couple of km's & then the overall process repeated (engine not responding, no ignition etc) I decided to take it to Yamaha service centre & by the time I reachd there , I guess my bike was warmed up enough & hence there was no problems wen mechanics checked it. I had hard time convincing them what i went through & finally the only reply Igot from them was that the problem may be because of a drop of water of Spark plug or ignition area. So I wanted to ask these to u guys, can this b the problem with my bike? If yes then guide me coz by bike is washed daily by a local person so what further precautions should I take. Please help me frnds coz I dont want to go throuh the same nightmare again tomorrow morning
hey man , you have all the advice you need given by the ppl above ... but you can just check this silly point , were you by any chance riding the bike with the choke on ? if yes , then that's your problem ... coz i have experienced the same problems but then realized i was riding with the choke on ... since then no issue .People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

Excellent point! I'm the type that always switches off their turn indicators, always closes the choke, etc., so this point hadn't occurred to me.Originally posted by nand15 View Posthey man , you have all the advice you need given by the ppl above ... but you can just check this silly point , were you by any chance riding the bike with the choke on ? if yes , then that's your problem ... coz i have experienced the same problems but then realized i was riding with the choke on ... since then no issue .

If you want more assurance, go to any automobile spares shop (car parts) and buy a regular H4 55/60 bulb. Costs Rs 60-70. Use that for a few days. if happy, buy a costly one.
Condition 1: Don't cross 50 KMPH in 5th gear.
Condition 2: Sprain your right wrist so that you cannot give faster twists for acceleration. You'd then accelerate slow and that helps get better mileage.
Condition 3: Make sure your mind understands that you are riding a Luna and that your heart doesn't want to go faster.
Bottom Line: Very Very difficult. Be happy if you get 50 KMPL. Jump with joy if you get anything closer to 55 KMPL.
Thanks for the assurance buddy......My main concern was would the battery be ok with that bulb and also a louder Horn fitted or would it blow away or discharge very quickly.....
ROFL....for conditions 2 & 3....LOLZ...
Vinchel...you should be happy getting more than 50kmpl currently....
As of now i am getting anywhere between 32-38
on both highways and city roads.....
So i guess you r lucky....dont be greedy
....
cheers

I do have a questions here...
1-Can Kick start be installed?
2-Is the battery maintainence free?
3-What is the top speed you got (When bike is most stable)?
4-How about cornering/turning (TYRE GRIPPING)?
5-Any good reason/s for buying FZ rather than Unicorn
6-Mileage (City)

2-Yes
3-Many have done 138 -130 we can assume 110-115 safely
4-I think except r15 no other indian bike can match this in this department
5-looks,upmarket feel,good performance in city conditions .
6-definately less than unicorn can expect 45-50 with sedate driving.

Had a similar problem, getting the Carburetor cleaned took care of it.Originally posted by bhavnish_kamboj View PostToday I was riding in the city and suddenly it started raining very heavily. I didn't stopped anywhere for rain to stop as I was in hurry. After 15-20min ride what happen the RPM got stuck at 3K, even i was not accelerating it. I can drive in 2nd gear without accelerating it as it got stuck at 3K
. But after 3hrs stoppage when I started the bike then it went to normal without doing anything, just a 3 hr rest to bike.
Is there any problem with any component or anything else, need help guys. What can I do so that it wouldn't happen again.
Just to add ODO is 700 only.
1. The FZ16's exported to Colombia have Kickers, so it may be possible to install one. (Haven't seen or heard of one in India yet.)Originally posted by shokhatri View PostI do have a questions here...

2. Yes, the battery is maintenance free.
3. The Bike is stable throughout and has a true top speed of around 115km/h.
4. Cornering\Turning is excellent! (In real world riding conditions with, uneven roads, gravel, dung, pebbles, scraps, etc. no other Indian bike holds the road like it or really inspires confidence to attack those turns\corners.)
5. I'd recommend buying the FZ16 over the Unicorn.
6. Appx. ~ 45Km/Liter.Last edited by Cyberpunk; 10-24-2009, 05:04 AM.

That is amazing.Originally posted by nand15 View Post... yesterday was on a 200 km round trip to the outskirts of bangalore , was fantastic , what was more amazing was the mileage my bike gave through the entire ride ... 55.3
... plus it was not all that sedate a ride as well ... had filled 200rs worth of shell normal fuel ( bike was running on vapours before refill
) , and hit reserve as the trip meter read 217km ... jus hoping the trend continues
I'd be interested to know the average you got before this one and the one after this.

Dude I'm relatively not aware how to do most of the things that u asked me to, but I will surely point out those to SVC guys next time I visit there.Originally posted by iamvik View PostClean and adjust the spark plug gap first. And check to see if the problem's solved.
If not, get the pilot jet and the carburettor cleaned and then tuned. Also check for dirt in the fuel filter in the fuel cock and clean or replace if required.
If it still doesn't work, it could be an electrical problem related to the ignition.
Important question for you: does the bike run normally and as good as other FZs at all speeds once the engine is hot?
The answer to ur question is "YES, my bike is a good as other FZ's all the time(even when engine is not so warmed up)"

Strange Yaar!! coz When my bike was not starting, I called my frnd (FZ owner) & he guided me the proper way to use Choke. I did so but as soon turned the choke off, the engine would stop so aftr trying many times, I finally decided to run with choke on & the bike worked well till next couple of KM's so I decided to switch off the choke when I was on a signal. Thereafter my FZ worked fine (may be coz the engine got heated up enough)Originally posted by nand15 View Posthey man , you have all the advice you need given by the ppl above ... but you can just check this silly point , were you by any chance riding the bike with the choke on ? if yes , then that's your problem ... coz i have experienced the same problems but then realized i was riding with the choke on ... since then no issue .

Loads of Problems!!
Hey guys,
'm facing a problem with my fz's rear tyre. It's too hard to spin. When spinned with full force.. it takes 1-2 revolutions max. and then stops. Though it was a bit hard on that part from the beggining but since my last service done a week ago, it has become a bit more harder.
Moreover, the bike has also dropped it's mileage considerably. Before 2nd service, it was giving a mileage of 38-40 kmpl; but now it's a meare 25 kmpl(double checked).
I also feel that the bike is harder to pull as it seems that engine takes too much effort to pull it in 2nd gear.
As 'm too busy with placements right now, it's tough for me to get time out for frequent visits to SVC. So guys, please help me here.Last edited by xtremeillusion; 10-24-2009, 06:42 PM.

What I can guess from this is that the service guy has tightened the chain of your bike too hard during your last servicing. check out that first or the best option is go back to the service center..Originally posted by xtremeillusion View PostHey guys,
