Man i will be buying this bike within a day or two...
Help me guys.
Is it worth buying?
Oh and btw if mileage is 40+
I will definately forget unicorn
This bike is better than the Unicorn in the aspect that it is lesser weight, has more low end and mid end torque and you can obtain those sudden bursts of acceleration, which the refined and smooth power flowing engine of Unicorn cannot.
The fz is the best bike to use in the busy cities with its fantastic gear ratios and ride position. It is also far better looking than the Unicorn.
Regarding the mileage, the very first mileage I obtained for the very first litre of petrol poured in it was 43kmpl. Before 1st service, I obtained a maximum of 52kmpl.
After the 1st service, the maximum was 49-50 and now I regularly get 45 plus and at most extreme riding, 40. OF course, these are only approximated as you can't trust the fuel meter.
( My first choice was Unicorn and the only reason I cancelled the Unicorn was that the bike took 50 days for delivery.
Unicorn has 60 mileage which the fz cannot give and also the rider and pillion get equal comfort, which also the fz is lacking. )Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.

Engine Misfiring-Originally posted by anmol_1990 View Postalso pls tell me wats misfiring and knocking
The engine may shake so badly at idle that it causes vibrations that can be felt throughout the vehicle. The engine also may be hard to start and may even stall at idle. When misfire occurs, performance suffers along with fuel economy & emissions. Misfire is caused by: loss of spark(bad spark plug); the air/fuel mixture is too far out of balance to ignite(poor air-fuel ratio); or loss of compression(due to internal engine defects).
Engine Knocking-
when the normal combustion cycle between the air-fuel-spark plug, happens there is another one or more combustion process taking place outside the normal combustion envelope.this combustion happens due to change in fuel octane level;engine over heating(this heat can cause combustion apart from the spark produced by plug); and internal mechanical problems..noise may be a hollow knocking sound or it can be more of a rattling-type sound.
.
Both Misfiring and knocking are bad for the engine.

The answer to ur question is "YES, my bike is a good as other FZ's all the time(even when engine is not so warmed up)"

Strange Yaar!! coz When my bike was not starting, I called my frnd (FZ owner) & he guided me the proper way to use Choke. I did so but as soon turned the choke off, the engine would stop so aftr trying many times, I finally decided to run with choke on & the bike worked well till next couple of KM's so I decided to switch off the choke when I was on a signal. Thereafter my FZ worked fine (may be coz the engine got heated up enough)
Sorry for the late reply; away for the weekend.
Your answers indicate that the slow running circuit in the carburettor is surely blocked. This manifests itself in starting trouble espcially when cold and poor running at low speed and the necessity of using the choke.
The carburettor has to be cleaned. There's no other way around this. You can try using a carburettor cleaner spray; it may help.

Logic would say before the tour but it depends on how the feel is and when was the last time u got the bike serviced..if it was a few months ago then perhaps you need to get it serviced. In case it was earlier than that then go ahead make your trip and then do the follow up service.Originally posted by sudhakargurram View PostMy bike is 2100 on ODO..
I am planning for a trip to coorg from bangalore. So is it recommended to service the bike before the trip or after the trip..
Also it has to depend on how the bike feels rite now.Do yo feel any gear changing issues or engine over heating issues?? Is there a sudden lack of acceleration or loss of power in the bike?? How confident do you feel on your ride?? factor in all these questions while deciding on when to service....
Njoi the trip and have a safe ride...sigpicGirls are like roads, more the curves, more the dangerous they are.
To ride or not to ride?? is a....
very very stupid question....

The slackness in chain is just fine; no probs there.
@xtreme,since you chain isn't tight, try loosening the rear brake, the small nut at the right bottomSmoke rubber, not tobacco.

'm facing a problem with my fz's rear tyre. It's too hard to spin. When spinned with full force.. it takes 1-2 revolutions max. and then stops. Though it was a bit hard on that part from the beggining but since my last service done a week ago, it has become a bit more harder.
Moreover, the bike has also dropped it's mileage considerably. Before 2nd service, it was giving a mileage of 38-40 kmpl; but now it's a meare 25 kmpl(double checked).
I also feel that the bike is harder to pull as it seems that engine takes too much effort to pull it in 2nd gear.
As 'm too busy with placements right now, it's tough for me to get time out for frequent visits to SVC. So guys, please help me here.
same problem occuring wid me as well...i went to the SVC guys, they said its due to lack of lubing. But as now lubing is done as well, the problem is occuring again.I went to a local mechanic, he said your chain set is gone.I said what
??
I hVe coverd almost 19 k on my bike in 9 months. Is this much is the life span of a chain set? Help me out as well..

It's possible. A poorly maintained and misaligned chain can wear out much sooner.Originally posted by speedyk View Postsame problem occuring wid me as well...i went to the SVC guys, they said its due to lack of lubing. But as now lubing is done as well, the problem is occuring again.I went to a local mechanic, he said your chain set is gone.I said what

To check if the chain's worn out, check the wheel axle position in its slot on the swing arm. If it's already at or near the end of the slot, this means that the chain has worn out.
The sprocket wear can be verified by measuring the tooth height from the root. Very worn sprockets are evident even by sight. Just compare with a new one. If any teeth are broken, then the sprocket is a throw away.
