  • even im having the exact same prob as xtremeillusion.
its harder to spin my rear tyre,i thought it was coz my chain was under lubed...i lubed but no diff!

    @NJ
is there any specific level for the chain tightness?
and why should the SVC guys fiddle with it anyway?

During the servicing, the mechanics also checks your chain and tightens it if they think thats necessary. As all the mechanics are not experienced enough to judge all these things, so sometimes they mess up with your bike..

is there any specific level for the chain tightness?
Ans: I think the chain should reach atleast 1 to 1and1/2 inches when you pull both of them inside. [Still you can check with one of your trusted mechanics]

Thanks for the advice, but i've already checked that out. The slackness in chain is just fine; no probs there.

I also forgot to mention that i got my handle-bar changed with my last service-a week ago.! Can this be beacuse of any mis-configurations there?; as the mileage has also dropped down to 25 kmpl form 40 kmpl.

'm facing a problem with my fz's rear tyre. It's too hard to spin. When spinned with full force.. it takes 1-2 revolutions max. and then stops. Though it was a bit hard on that part from the beggining but since my last service done a week ago, it has become a bit more harder.
Moreover, the bike has also dropped it's mileage considerably. Before 2nd service, it was giving a mileage of 38-40 kmpl; but now it's a meare 25 kmpl(double checked).
I also feel that the bike is harder to pull as it seems that engine takes too much effort to pull it in 2nd gear.

As 'm too busy with placements right now, it's tough for me to get time out for frequent visits to SVC. So guys, please help me here.
Before 1st service i used to get mileage of around 45kmpl. I don't know what magic SVC people did, it never gave me above 30kmpl even after 3rd service. Still cannot figure out what might have happened.

I think its the magic of the SVC guys and FZ itself combined....coz many of us have never got a mileage of more than 35kmpl after the first service...

Also as i pointed out very early that the SVC guys are reluctant to touch the stock carburettor settings.......

            • Hmm Strange..

Average for my FZ is 43 before 1st service and after 1 st service its 42 to 43 again..

              Guess SVC guys did nothing

For mileage.. there is a small (hidden) screw somewhere behind the oil filter. You just need to adjust that screw to control your mileage as it controls the amount of fuel going in bike's engine.
P.S.- Ask your SVC guy to adjust it for more mileage.

And today i also got that tyre stiffness corrected. He loosened the rear tyre and pushed it a bit forward towards the engine. It loosened the chain a bit and the stiffness is gone.

Moreover, i used to hear a loud sound of chain while riding. It's gone too.

So, the guys who quote about the chain-sound even after lubing it; get your rear tyre's position adjusted (or in other words, get the chain slackness checked).

hey , I was getting around 42-45 upto the 1st and 2nd service , this was the first decent run i've been on after the 2nd service to check the mileage and that was the result , an astonishing 55.3 , never expected it ... haven't experienced any drop in power either ( probable reason for increase in mileage ) , so i'm sitting pretty right now , haven't gone out for a long enough ride to check mileage after the last one , hence i'm keeping my fingers crossed , will keep you guys posted ...

you are bang on target there ... i've said this before too , if the bike is less than 6 months old they won't touch the carb , orders from yamaha , so i guess they should be ok afterwards

Vinchel...you should be happy getting more than 50kmpl currently....
As of now i am getting anywhere between 32-38 on both highways and city roads.....
So i guess you r lucky....dont be greedy....
                        cheers

Well, I now get 44-46kmpl because I find it very very very hard to keep the speed below 50. When I get on the roads, I have made it my point to overtake every possible bike. The bike goes smoothly upto 80km/hr without any vibration. But the back tyre and good brakes sure make you a bit over confident.

Any way 32-34kmpl is not so good for a fz 16. With a little more optimization, you can get 40plus easily
                        Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.

I will optimize it one way or the other....lets say if the SVC guys do not do it even this time then i will do it myself.....
coz anyways i used to do it myself for my older bike....

He means to say that the FZ effortlessly goes upto the 80km/hr mark....
from there on its comparatively a little slow to reach 100km/hr or cross it...

the bike has no vibrations at all except for some normal engine vibes....

Its been a smooth sail for many of us...so rest assured if you are buying this machine.....
Mileage....Hmmm......I cant say coz its not beeen tuned properly stilll...
but he rest of the guys are quoting good mileages.....
                            so decide for yourself.....

Idling screw wont affect your mileage unless you go horribly wrong about setting it....you need the A/F ratio screw for mileage and power ......

                              • Guys, before my 4th service, my bike got a mileage of 38. after service it has came down to 30. When i take this issue with svc guys, they tuned to mileage mode. I got max 48km....!!But some problem has happened. Bike's engine got overheated even in 2km ride, i can feel the heat when i placed my leg in foot rest, some vibra sound is coming when rpm touches 5.5. and miss firing also happens. When 80km is touches, engine will automatically switched off.... Have escalated this issue and yesterday my bike got in proper condition. Now iam checking the mileage, other things are ok..
