oh tell me about it man , bangy cops are jus looking for the tiny mistake on your part to catch you and fine you , all they want is the money . for heights they even found out that my friends x-treme's number plate was not printed properly , i.e , the state and code in one line and the number on the next ... 100rs for that . fancy number plate , like with LED's or stylish font 100rs , for cars it's worse , friends swift was fined for 500rs for a fancy number plate ...

Another thing he had also asked me to change the front and rear sprockets and chain since I am done with 11.5K. The the pairs costs whopping 1300.
I am planning to get the sprockets manufactured from a friend who owns a steel business.Lets see if this works out.Would keep posted!

I am planning to increase the rear sprocket teeth numbers. Not sure! Would need more consultation.

Guys, is it adviceable to increase the number of teeth in sprockets?has anyone done this before.

And guys, please don't think that the SVC guys will change the parts themselves. It depends upon the persons who makes the job sheet for your bike. You have to say proactively to them about the part changes. My bike has crosses 14K+ and till date I've changed Air filter, Brake pads and brake shoes, Clutch play cable, Air duct, Spark plug, Rear sprocket. Just read the manual and judge the change period from your ODO rather than months. Also it depends a lot on your riding style. If you ride a lot on the higher speeds like me, then the changes are sure to take place at a more frequent pace. So keep a check on that front too.
sprockets r not kilometer based maintainance items check their condition, if no noise is there and there is scope for slackness adjustment ur final drive is more than good. i have done 17k + and have changed engine oil filters till date.
i don't know of present, older spark plugs of champion used to have a life of atleast 40k and mine work superb too, so don't be fooled by ,svc guys.
rest clutch cable n air filter ya they go bad with dirt... i am also thinking of replacing them. but my brake pads are fine... they should also visually inspected b4 replacing, they have wear indicators... on fast (not rash) driving they would last anywhere around 20-30k, good drivers can expect 50-60 k, stunters can expect under 10 k

Also this did happened day before yesterday.
please don't do it in cold start or starts after halts of more than 2 hrs or so as the engine oil settles and you could damage your engine

clutch plates can go bad at any time depends on how the clutch system is tuned and the riding style, but when they wear out the freeplay decreases and so does the load on the plates causing them to slip. If you notice there is drop in top end and you don't feel any or less freeplay, then simply loosening the cable will resolve, my suggestion u should loosen it and check top speed and gearshift. if you feel your engine is revving hard and you are not getting the speed it means clutch is slipping and you should get it checked by a good mech. if engine is not revving at all try cleaning the air filter thoroughly and get spark plug inspected.

            • hi guys

Yesterday while tourung i noticed some peep peep noice coming continuously from the front when doing 30+ speed on odo. Today the pressure is little bit low on the front disc.

Showed to mechanic. he was saying that all is going right and nothing to worry.

After that i checked the brake fluid and it was dirtier i can't believe that it was just changed 2.5 months ago and i did 2k after that till now.

HE HE, last week traffic police stopped me and asked for documents, when i asked why he stopped me..... he said "lights are on"

looks like Bangalore police are more into earning money than to regulate traffic

                    • I have done 14k on my ride, and i skipped yamaha SVC and done it at a local workshop. What all parts should be changed by this time? Oil filter, pads etc.
Please gimme a list, my ride is lacking power nowadays.
It's not what you ride, it's your attitude that counts.

Just read the owner's manual for the maintenance check list per distance covered. You should be able to infer what parts or consumables may be required.

                        • Who has read the owner's manual?

With ref. to the previous poster (no offence meant) and a couple of incidents over the weekend, I wonder how many people actually read the owner's manual of their vehicles and electronic equipment, etc. I am frequently surprised at the number of people who aren't aware of a certain feature or characteristic because they never read the manual!

Here's the sort of questions I mean:

                          - What should be the tyre pressure?
                          - When must the vehicle be serviced?
                          - How to remove the side panel? (This is a big question - many people are stumped!)
                          - How to open the seat? (Another one!)
                          - etc.

This isn't meant to be a rant; I am genuinely surprised by such people and at how much easier life would be for such people by not having to depend on other people or being conned by mechanics, etc.

                          • ^^ agree with u fully but sometimes the dealers con people and dont send them their booklet immediately or are late in getting it so the best thing is to ask here rather than live in darkness and harm their machines...

                            • Manual states on page 6-20 chain should not be cleaned with solvents like diesel, petrol or kerosene, it also states don't use engine oil as this may also damage the 'o' rings.

                              Little Tip
A mechanic friend of mine suggested lubrication of clutch cable by simply spraying WD40 down the inner cable from the lever end, try this if your clutch feels like it's dragging
