The dealers do skimp on one thing or the other. But the chain lube is the same, and so is the oil. Yamaha has two oil types, one is mineral around 195 bucks, and other is semi synthetic around 418 rs. The dealer might not have the semi synth in stock.

The lubrication spray is the same for all use. though there are two types, one is yamahalube spray in a blue, white and green can, and other is motul, red and silver.

incidentally, there are more issues with the factory workshop in delhi, than dealers...

    - I know the dealer personally in fbd, so all issues i face are resolved very well and promptly... but i understand what the frustration and irritation of such problems are.. Take it to the company's notice... they will respond.
I am shocked to witness the prompt and swift response of the Service Engineer at Yamaha!!!! Within 15 mins he acknowledged my problem within 5 mins of complaint registration and he has instructed me when ever I get to the service station again I just have to call him up and my job would be done!!! Amazing....I mean they truly mean customer satisfaction. Not like the stupid dealer!!! He told me that if the Logo blinks then the bike has to have 2 ltrs min and would go on reserve after 10 or 15 kms and if it has logo plus bar blinking it has at least 3 ltrs and would be on mains!! And what response I got from dealer is something they would have to watch out now because I mentioned their response in my compliant.....Thanks guys and way to go Yamaha on service front.

      • Can anybody help me with what type of chain lube we can use for FZ/ yamalube or Motul ? In the manual it says soap based lubricant. Well when I gave my bike for the first service (at 1k ) ,SVC charged me 450rs .That might be for the semi synthetic oil which I told them to put. I also told SVC to adjust my head light beam but nothing was done.

        • Good point brought up here...

          Head lights!!!

          FZ head light sucks bigtime!!!

If I put on High beam, I am not able to see anything... I usually prefer LOW..atleast I can see something.but usually blinded by any traffic coming on opposite side.So i temporarily press PASS so as to have more light. The reflector quality is really bad!

Anyone facing the same problem? What did you do?

          • ^^ you can buy the motul spray cans from them. But i would suggest its cheaper to get it done from there in front of your eyes, around 70 rs for chain clean and lubrication.

Make sure they do the following .

            - First wash chain with petrol to remove all muck

            - Then blast with water

            - Then put chain clean

            - and finally chain lube.

Also keep checking the tension of the chain whenever you get the chain cleaned.

+1 on that...they suck big time...the high beam is totally useless....

Its not the reflector the cause of that problem...as i had told u earlier also get the focus of the beam checked..during high beam the focus is somewhere in the clouds() .. so u need to work on that..

Btw, lemme tell u that the FZ's reflector is very good as compared to other bikes(in a 35w headlamp setup)..the illumination is very powerful..

                  Everyone has this problem.
Best to get a 55w bulb. That'll solve all the problems.
It's not what you ride, it's your attitude that counts.

I had a look at my chain and never saw any lubricant on it.Poor service…
well, the chain makes some sound now , so might be I can lubricate it myself. Is kerosene or diesel a good cleaning agent because I hate to use WD40 as it may mess up the orings. What is the price of lubricants at cochin ..are they easily available? How can I get my high beam adjusted? 2nd service is coming up shortly but I don’t want to wait….

                        Hi,

Please use Yamalube as it is much better in quality than the MOTUL one. But nowadays, Yamalube is really out of stock everywhere coz of its lessened supply.

You can adjust the high beam of your bike yourself. I did it too. All you have to do is point the full beam at a wall opposite you and then there is screw just below the headlight scowl on the left side. You can adjust that nut till you reach a point of appropriate brightness by looking at the wall.

Sad to hear all this... anyways SVC guys can take the filled mineral oil and refill with the Motul... you can definitely ask them to do that, there's no probs in doing that, coz they can use the same oil for other bikes(which they usually do...)
Do u know one thing... Hilton Autos in TVM once serviced a yamaha bike(alba/gladiator... don't remember exactly)... and gave to the customer, when he rode the bike for few KMs, he didn't find any smoothness in riding, even before the service the bike was fine... he returned to the SVC and told the probs and atlast saw the oil dip stick was missing and found not even a single drop of engine oil is present... them drained the oil and forgot to pour fresh oil... he was F%^ked...
he became mad and said iwill complain this, SVC guys atlast fell on his feet and said sorry...

So Ranjith don't be ashamed to do it... if i was i would definitely replace it... Mind you SVC's guys will take care of a bike as only as a machine...

This is one of the main reason i didn't opt for a ZMA/P220(which i was planning to buy before FZ)... coz both HH and Bajaj SVC's sucks... sucks big times... while reading your post even i can't sit in my seat... coz we don't treat our bikes as thing to travel from point A to point B...
WE LOVE AS OF OUR BELOVED ONES... when i sold my RX100(used 3 1/2 yrs) i couldn't sleep for couple of days... the feeling like some of my body part has gone... TRUE...
