People I would like to share one observation with you:

First,
I earlier did my first initial 2 servicing at a Yamaha Dealer, a franchisee.The cost of spare parts n oils,filters etc differs between a Factory Workshop and a Dealer Workshop. Just for eg - The sprockets pairs and chain at Factory workshop was Rs 1300 whereas at Dealer Workshop its Rs 1500.
Same goes with oil and filters etc.Always some more costlier than the factory showroom.

The Dealers used a Yamaha Lube mineral oil whereas the Factory Showroom Workshop had recommended me a Semi Synthetic Oil. The quality of chain lube differs. I mean the Dealer used some (WTF) lube spray for chain. A mixture of 2 cans had to be applied.Costed me Rs 150.If you wash ur bike..away goes the lube...and on the other hand the Factory workshop applies some kind of motul lube which forms a white greasy waterproof coating over the chain fo Rs 200. But its worth it.


Another incident that I would like to share with you is at again at the franchisee end.

I went there to collect my mudflaps. I thght if would be good if I lube my chain as I it was rainy season then.When I arrived there, there was a red R15 being washed.The owner was waiting for the bike.The mechanic told the owner of R 15 to come after an hour.In the meantime I convinced the fellow out there to lube my bike for 100 bucks.He cleaned my chain and applied lube. Later when I was just about to leave the R15 owner came.The mechanic bluffed him that he has applied the lube and that can be visible on the ground and lube drops are still falling on the ground..when infact that was water dripping off after the wash.The R15 owner was convinced that his bike fully serviced and drove happily when infact all the while he was away,the mechanic was buzy cleaning n lubing my chain!

WTF was that.From that day I stopped servicing my bike at the dealer and went to Factory Outlet SVC.

Yamaha Riders in Camp,Pune is the dealer.

Avoid going to that SVC for servicing.Instead choose the Factory Outlet SVC.

Junta,
my personal advice, always opt for the factory outlet SVC even if it is far.You can atleast do this much for your bike.Moreover the servicing comes after 2-3 months.Atleast quality is ensured!

Hi guys..........a very strange problem is bothering my fz s for past few months now and the kind of attitude SVC guys have I guess its better to post here and get solution.

Previously on refills the bike 's last bar on fuel metre wud blink till 50-60 kms and then go off and after next 20kms or so I had to resort to reserve.

Now the I have to put bike on reserve on the last bar itself and only then it starts else it behaves as if there is no fule in mains..........thought that it might be a display error which had happpened earlier also and req some cleaning of the switch but weirdly bike's average came crashing down to 25 or from 40-42 as noticed from trip metre which showed the same 50-60 kms short for the last bar range.....for the next two refills the same thing happened and now I have switched to reserve but the bike has run normally for about 100kms on reserve M still confused wat is happening bcoz the SVC guys could only say after making me wait for 15 mins "sir ji sab theek hai aapko veham ho gaya hai"........thats the kind of service offered!!! so guys what could be wrong?? why the last bar reserve and extended range in reserve??

Exactly... I did my 1st n 2nd servicing at Yamaha Riders since it was near to my home.

I got my bike delivered by Yamaha Riders,so I went there for Servicing.

After that incident from 3rd servicing onwards till 6th servicing that I had just completed 2 days back I have been servicing my bike at Yamaha Showroom SVC at Wakdewadi.

I have heard a lot about the Castrol Bike Zone at Viman Nagar. Now since I am no longer bound to do servicing at Yamaha Outlets,I'm thinking of trying that out for 7th servicing. Heard that the mechanic is real good.

Also in mind to try the Petronas/Motul engine oil.Have heard good reviews about them!

Hey i wanted to know something.Its regarding the chain.Is it totally maintenance free one thats is on the FZ or do we need to clean it regularly?I am not too familiar with chain maintenance and since FZ has an open chain,i am a bit concerned.My unicorn has a chain cover so that doesn't need attention.

ok great!i got my FZ back frm the 3rd service frm PSN Cochin and they forgot to chng it to the MOTUL semi synth i gave!!!!they put the normal mineral 20w40!

Thnx for responding.And is there any particular brand of oil that i can use to lube it.I live in an area thats very dusty and i can see that the chain is actually very dirty
