On highways as you say commercial vehicles are considerete, but these roads cannot be called proper highways and the truckers are not professional. They dont do inter-state not even inter-district.

I completely disagree because, first I was not in city. I was on dark roads with no street lamps, more of like roads through jungles where anything might come on to the road. High beam on here helps a lot to spot the animals and people early on.Originally posted by iceman331 View Post

I have my lights set up only one beam at a time. Both lights work in low beam as well as high. not both modes at a time.Originally posted by Lucky Luke View PostRight Nand, not only did I get the names mixed-up as their respective posts were just one after the other, and perhaps my sub-conscient thought that "skv18" was shorter to write than "surampudijagadeesh" (I'm not used to such names
), but also what he wrote could have meant that lights were on low and high simultaneously whatever the position of the switch (bad setup!), while it was certainly that both were in high or low simultaneously depending on the switch position. Just too quick reading/posting. My bad
BTW, Anand: just had a look at your tour: got me laughing a couple of times

I went for a 600 kms ride this weekend and basically redlined her at every gear for long stretches. Today the bike feels very sluggish, rough and seems to be gasping for power (especially at low rpms). I have one bar of fuel left. Is it because of the ripping requesting an oil change? (Changed oil and oil filter 1.2K kms before current reading). Is it because of a dirty air filter? or is it because of low fuel?Last edited by rkakkar; 09-26-2011, 09:28 PM.Always assume the other guy will mess up - Ride Defensively!

+100,as I also travel in same type of roads with any rare locality in view..and High beam is only the last resort for travelling in this type of roads, & what you have done is exactly correct as even in the road that I travel truckers & even the private vehicles always keep riding with high beam.repeated flashing of my bike beam is of no use against them so IN THAT CASE IT IS BETTER TO RUN WITH YOUR HIGH BEAM ONNNOriginally posted by surampudijagadeesh View PostI completely disagree because, first I was not in city. The road had no traffic. There are just villagers and very few of them who go to nearest wine shop or returning from a town, except for that the roads are empty. 50 to 60 kmph is not fast, it is a two lane road. Pedestrians, dogs, bicycles, or rikshaws, cant flash their lights can they?. and with the low beam you cannot spot them from far and by the time you realize you are too fast something bad could happen. The roads here scarcely have night traffic.Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Postdude no body is saying that using high beam is good.... but in your case what you did was wrong... just imagine a reverse situation with a truck coming from the opposite direction with full on high beam.... wouldnt you have cursed the truckie??? you definitely would have, and you would have thought of him as an arrogant SOB... he thought the same about you and decided to teach you a lesson....
and now whether his high beam was working or not it is a minimum decency that you should have shown by switching to your low beams...
since you are mentioning that the road is one with traffic and pedestrians you should have slowed down your vehicle anyways, switched to low beam, passed the truck and then carried on again as normal....
yeah 2*55W will kill the battery in no time... if you are going for a dual beam setup go for a 35 W setup...
About your advice of switching to low beam and passing on, the guy had HIDs, I signaled him couple of times, yet he was coming on the wrong side of the road and that too from very far, there were no other vehicles in between. I wouldn't say "I will switch to my low beam, please dont hit me.", because I couldn't clearly tell for a moment whether he was overtaking or deliberately coming on to me. What if he did not respond and was drunk. What if he was sleepy and couldn't tell of the vehicle ahead? I tend to reason such way when I do something like that. There are plenty of ways to keep ourselves alive, at times with bad manners as well. The worst of the manners would be going ahead and teaching manners to other road users.
Yes I would have cursed a trucker with high beams, but I wouldn't have attempted teaching him a lesson even if I was also riding a truck, because that would be worst of the manners. Would you teach the other guy a lesson if you were the trucker. would that make you a driver with manners? I wouldn't think so. Think about it and you would know.
Please read the post thoroughly before you reply. plz.Last edited by surampudijagadeesh; 09-26-2011, 09:40 PM.BreaklessBiker

Well looking forward to see in the N250R forum then bro! 2k kms in 2 months was achieved like in a various method like doing a couple of long rides! And the bike was like untouched for almost 70% in those 2 monthsOriginally posted by nand15 View PostFirstly , Congrats on the N250R , I Hope to join you there someday ...
, but I'm curious , if 2k kms in 2 months is low , then what do you do on an average ?
I wanted to enjoy the Ninja more, with the FZ i dint want to take the Ninja to traffic and all ( even to college ) but with FZ outta the equation I ought to ride the ninja often so just found the bike standing dumb for 70% a bit frustrating and started to love that extra bit of power juice from the twin pot
but still I miss the FZ

dude, under the circumstances u were under I see no wrong either..nonetheless whenever a vehicle comes opposite its best to just dim to low or signal.1/8 tonne fz vs 4+tonne truck never goes down well!..as u said them lorry and rtc drivers(bout 50% rtc nowadays thou) are crazy.so its better for us to be safe than sorry.let someone else teach them manners(they'll screw up bad eventually one day)..like that tire ad said:the roads are filled with idiots.Originally posted by surampudijagadeesh View PostGlad to know someone got the point

Front fork issue
There have been many reports here of the Front fork making noise if we ride over potholes or speed brakers. Even my bike has the same problem.
I was so pissed off with people at ASC saying that's the way a bike would sound and its very normal, so I ended up calling Yamaha Back office and they very politely took the complaint and arranged for an engineer from Yamaha take a look at the bike. He was also very professional and resolved all the problems with the bike. Everything worked like a charm for 3-4 months then the problem is back. Complained the same to ASC guys..... and as you might have guessed.. they repeat the same old story... it is very normal, that's the way a bike would sound.
I somehow lived with it, completed around ~15K kms now, every now and then when I go over a pothole or a speed breaker the "tak" "tak" noise pisses me off. I called up Yamaha back office again today and asked them straight forward "what will it take for Yamaha to accept the fact that their bike has a problem?"... I was asked for the details.. repeated the story agian......and informed them that this problem is reported with many people... why dont they analyse it do a recall if there is any issue?. To which they say, nobody complained to them about this problem, many come with many different kind of problems but we haven't heard this problem repeatedly in complaints that we get.
This made me think....blood hell, they don't even know that many have this problem.
Saying this, I encourage all the people who got this problem to call Yamaha back office and register their complaint.
BTW, I did receive call from a ASC as the complaint was forwarded to them and they invited(yeah, this is the word they used) me to bring the bike for a check up, once they find the issue they'll forward the information to Yamaha for the resolution. I very promptly said NO, with the argument that, you couldn't find what the problem was till now and I have been giving the same complaint in all my services, you couldn't do anything till now, how do yo expect me to believe you guys? and more over I don't want to waste my time for you to troubleshoot and learn/experiment with remote help from Yamaha.

Having trouble at low RPM means only 1 thing...clogged up air-filter....jus replace it and m sure it will be back to normal.....and if its been 3000 km since u put the engine oil den yus the oil n the oil-filter too need to be changedOriginally posted by rkakkar View PostI went for a 600 kms ride this weekend and basically redlined her at every gear for long stretches. Fuel level never would n will give u any drop in performance untill there is literally no fuel left
