OSRAM Nighbrakers are good, but they are not completely white and high beam isnt great!

It has the best in class low end torque...but somehow I feel...you have to change the gears pretty fast. So whats the use of low end torque ?
Shifting gears on slope increases in all bikes...

I've rode ghats alone and its better than pulsars but what I was talking about was with pillion it dies to go up...

PS... It might also depend upon the steepness of the ghats you do...
hmmm steepness is alright man but i have rode ghats with ease with 130 kg of payload and approx 70 speed, ya once you decelerate to 40-50 on that speed you have to downshift if its steep...

FZ has the best in-class (including RTR FI) torque. On paper of course. You guys have to realize that it also has another superlative feature. Widest tyre (not only in its class but amongst all bikes, no SBKs plz). Now the torque would be used to overcome that huge contact with the road.
Dude Area of contact has no practical effect on frictional force... its just a funtion of Coeff. of friction and weight... Though greater contact patch means less wear and tear... thats why FZs treads are so shallow... only drawback of big tyres is the inertia they carry is huge... but thats not the case with these tyres as there wall thickness is very less... so its in check.

It's a killer in the 5-7000 rpm range, but picks up quite well in the lower rpm band too. The good amount of torque is better substantiated because of the less number of gear shifts when fluctuating between low and high speeds. Dint have so much of an issue when riding uphill. In fact i felt it to be much better than my pulsar 150cc classic.

As a single rider i've managed about 118 on the speedo. There after my wish to squeeze more out of it, ran out and so did the necessary empty distance.

Now with a pillion who weighs around 65 kg: The bike felt like the pillion weighed as much as Shrek(Assuming shrek weighs a lot) and was struggling to pull itself ahead in the 3-5k rpm range. After that it was better but not good enough. And the speedometer forgot counting beyond 105 even with full throttle. I guess if I shifted late, it would have helped. Yet to try that out.

So yes, the small rear seat is a sort of implication that the bike is more happy when ridden single. The engine kind of re affirms this. But it will still be my choice for city rides and single rider highway sprints. I'll leave it to the bigger cc bikes to honor themselves with highway sprints with a pillion.

My personal top speed experience with 130 kgs is 113 on speedo... on eastern express way in Mumbai... prettymuch flat road i guess. But took long time to reach.

I dunno guys either my engine performs better or yours is having tuning probs... coz i keep working on keeping my engine in best of stock shapes...
Kingdom FAR FAR away is where I wanna be...
But I can't find a road headed that way.

Actually i feel high beam focus is not good in FZ. Whatever bulb you put, it scatters a lot. Night brakers do decent job, I also felt huge difference in increase in brightness compared to stock bulb.

          • Hi guys,
I'v been riding my LE FZ 16 since last 2 months & ever since 1st week of my purchase, i had been noticing a slight wobbling in my rear wheel which can be easily noticed on turns at speeds above 40 kmph.. I showed my rear wheel to 3 yamaha outlets & they said its an issue with my MRF tyre not the alloy rims. So i was guided 2 a MRF engineer today who inspected my bike's rear tyre thoroughly, took some pics & checked d wear & tear of my tyre. He said he'll forward d inspection report 2 higher authorities who will take a decision if my tyre has 2 be replaced or not & this process will tak 3 days. I asked 4 his personal opinion on the tyre & he said d tyre is fine but there may b problems with the rear wheel assembly or something else. So I'm asking u guys what shud b my next step if MRF rejects d case, coz I hav no option left since Yamaha has already blamed d issue is with MRF tyre. Please guide me guys coz my rear wheel is realy in bad shape & it wobbles by more then 2 cm & can be easily noticed.

same problem when i had my fz...its the rim dude...your rim has a bend...just keep in middle stand and place your thumb on the outer rim slightly grazing it..the bottom of your thumb should act as a pivot...keep it in 1st gear and if any bend is there your thumb will budge slightly...check on both sides...if not the rims then the tyre really has a problem..if you are from hyderabad i can give you some contact no to speed up the process

My rim is checkd by many mechanics (including Yamaha's) with ur technique of placing d thumb on outer rim & leave d bike on 1st gear.. Even i learned this process frm mechanics & we all hav d same opinion that Rim is ok. But wen u do d same process of placing your thumb on the edge of tyre, u can definitely notice d problem easily. But gotta tellu dat we all hav checkd d rim only frm 1 side (i.e d left side) so i'll go thru d process on d right side of d rim & let u kno.. & I'm from mumbai so i guess I'll have to find sum1 else on Xbhp who can help me out bt thanks anyways bro
