@k2cool
thanks dude. Its not gonna make me shy away from buying an FZ. If I really wanted to do long tours, i would've got the ZMA
Just a question to guys from chennai. Has anyone got an FZ from Sai Motors in Ashok Nagar ? How good are they?? I gave them a visit, and did a couple of test drives. Looked OK to me.

1. place the bike on the main stand.
2.make sure the wheel in question is suspended in the air above the ground level (it can rotate freely)
3.rotate the wheel .
if the wheel wobbles then the bearings are gone and need to be replaced. This happens due to normal wear and tear and is a part of any motorcycles maintainance.
dont ride the bike much until they have been replaced as otherwise the damage can be much more extensive....i ignored the same prblm in my other bike and it cost me a bomb....
Hey thanks a lot.
I came to see this by the same test after I applied a chain lube and kept the bike on stand wid 1st gear on to drain off the excess lube.
I wanna ask, how much does it costs to change the bearings and how much time does it takes?Stabl'ised by: BlackCat (FZ-16), BlackBird (ThunderBird)

Rear Disc possible???
Guys has anyone fitted a rear disc on the back of their fz???
Is it possible??? if yes whats the cost of the procedure??? where in mumbai??
should i go to the SVC only or some mechanic in mumbai???
am really unsatisfied with the current stock drum brakes...too much time required to stop...also soon they will become cumbersome to manage....sigpicGirls are like roads, more the curves, more the dangerous they are.

I don't think installing an aftermarket disc would be effective.Originally posted by k2cool_87 View PostGuys has anyone fitted a rear disc on the back of their fz???

Also remember, the back brake, whether disc or drum, is only meant to aid the front brake while braking, not for stopping power.
Use 70% front&30%rear braking, see how your braking distances reduces&power increases.
Also have a look at the visuals in the Ride Safe article!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

1. Aftermarket jobs are rarely executed correctly-you may end up having a disc brake with no bite&lots of maintenance on it thereafter. You will also need to make a few changes to accomodate the rear disc, piston, hose etc. I'm not sure whether the Swingarm also needs modification.
2. Don't think rear disc brakes function like the front ones-they are very soft, again to assist the front, from where the major braking power comes.
Even if you do go for a disc setup, my suggestion is don't go for the R15's Nissin ones.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

^^ i have faced the rear wheel sliding towards the left when i hit the rear too hard ...like in case of emergencies....considering the width of the rear this is actually a concern as the bike actually shifts a lot...
Thnx Sarvjit for ur inputs....as i said i might not go to the local shop but an actual Yamaha SVC surely they can do a better job....will keep in mind the nissan though....sigpicGirls are like roads, more the curves, more the dangerous they are.

Hi frnds,Originally posted by ayushkant View PostHi,
Yesterday I found out that my rear tire has started wobbling by approx 1 cm to the left side at some points
. I showed it to 2 different local mechanics as my SVC is 20 kms off. One of them said that the sprocket is damaged
. The other replied that one of the ball-bearings must have broken
.
Now I don't know what to do. I'll possibly show it to the SVC guys tomorrow. But has anyone faced such a problem with FZ before?
An update on my query. I went to the SVC today to get my bike checked. The guy said that the rear sprocket is damaged
and needs to be changed. But also said that the I can use the same sprocket for another 1000-2000 km. It'll cost me 1700/- and will take 2-3 hours. So I'll be giving it on Monday for the sprocket change.
