i would say both time and distance run , as specified by the manual ... 6th service at 9k shows that , technically it should have been at 15k , so i would say a combination of both ...

i kno tank bags are out of option but is it possible to have something else aiding the luggage carrying on the bike if yes then wat did u use?? how much luggage was it???

also wat was the bike's performance?? as in the acceleration department? and also the handling?

If your rear shocker seems to be stiffer than usual and the ride is bumpy, chain is noisy particularly frnt sprocket when reversing the bike.

Bike should not be driven in this condition as it causes permanent damage to chain sprocket and chassis.

Plz get your chains checked and rectified, Chains failing at 20k are signs of bad maintainence.

One blunt way of confirming is load your vehicle with 2 passengers and then check, there should be enough looseness to make the chain hit the metal/rubber near the foot-rest
ur back after long time dude,
even i had the same experience ,the loser who changed my sprockets made the chain very tight,i read the manual & adjusted it myself today.
changing chain freeplay is tricky the first time guys
,make sure u have the right tools first,(needed spanner is not given in toolkit)
plp here saying bike is serviced on time ,still the chain went bust, why??
coz the svc guys know nothing

Ya, seat did not get wet in rainy season since there is half an inch mesh gap between seat and you.

This seat cover is starp-on under the seat, so can be removed and clean the seat any time. Got it from Orion SVC bangalore. I had posted the photo also in this same thread sometime back.
Hmm. lots of good news here Looks like Orion is the place that contains the stuff that Pacer dont (Crash guard/ seat cover). Will check it out when I go over to purchase a DSG jacket and gloves...

I believe that the chain must be cleaned and relubricated every 500 km in India. Conditions here are particularly harsh since it can be both humid and dusty and sometimes even both.

If the chain is cleaned and lubricated only every service, even if it's early, and not depending on the condition of the chain, I'm sure the chain will suffer. I think Yamaha (and maybe Bajaj too since they too offer an O-ring chain on some bikes) have underestimated the wear on the chain due conditions and user maintenance. People just don't like, remember or bother visiting a service station once or twice a month just to get the chain serviced. And to top that, getting charged Rs. 150 each time isn't going to help the issue either.

Handling purely depends on how well u tie the luggage ontot he bike... and how well the distribute the weight within to maintain the balance... I hade no issue as the bungee cord we took saved us a lot of time and hassle...

I too would have ended up having scratches on the bike due to the saddle bag scratching against the fiber but avoided it by putting a broad tape on the fiber before we put the saddle bag on it...
