oh! really? wonder how did i do blore-chennai-blore thats 738 kms in a day. And Blore - wayanad - ooty - banglore thats about 900 kms in 3 days.

Just in case if you didnt know, Fz is a sooper tourer too, I could climb ooty hills with ease... oh! btw, your back doesnt hurt, find a comfortable position to ride and stick to it, you'll be fine.

i was offering my opinion...i am a big fan of the bike (wouldn't have bought it otherwise)but was offering a perspective that i have....also the prblm might be mine with the backache n stuff but decent tourers are expected to have space for luggage and bags n stuff...there is little room for that on the fz....

well FZ isn't meant for touring...but i don't believe that jst because of that no one can tour on it!....touring comfort might vary frm person to person since this bike isnt a tourer..

anyway im 5'8,70kgs....ive so far done 200-300 kms of touring and i have no complains...sometimes..read saometimes my wrist or back slightly pained but easily ignorable...
best is to take a TEST ride on your friends bike or so....or else you might want to shell out some more money for a ZMA-R or FAZER.

            EDIT
k2cool is right abt the pillion touring....i haven't done it but its going to be really hard!

I think if we can change sprockets of R15 to FZ, then back disc brake of R15 can be easily changed to FZ also.
              fz mod report.
my fz has suddenly become faster guys,
initial pick up when you blip the throttle ,is now v.good, could not believe just a increase in 40 to 42 size sprockets can have such a effect.
engine revs much more quickly to over 5000rpm in no time.
              bad effects -
my ride in the city showed me that cruising rpm is very bad now,i could do 55kmph in 5k rpm,
people who want to go on highways shd stay away frm this.
then ,my milege is gone for good now i think bcoz rpm was always above 5k rpm.
then again ,i knew this wud happen to my bike ,this is way i want(i dont care about the milege a lot) it to be ,& this mod is not for everyone,

I would like to go for a rear disk brake on the fz 16. Do the SVC guys do it? or do we have to get it done somewhere else.

Its not that you cant do it. I have done few touring in my FZ. Lets say my 1st was 900kms. 2nd was 500 & 3rd i am planning to do 1500-2000 kms. I didn't had any problems with my back. Few friends rode on Pulsar but they had back pain. Riding position on the FZ is dam good. You have much control on your machine. I say "if you want you can do it"

I have covered over 600 km recently over 3 days. Of these, 300+ km were done in one day in approximately 6,5 hours, not including breaks for food, rest and piss stops. By the end of the 300 km, I was tired but not aching anywhere.

My height is 5'10" and weight is 85 kg. I find the FZ to be very comfortable for long rides.

                    • Rear Tire Wobbling

                      Hi,

Yesterday I found out that my rear tire has started wobbling by approx 1 cm to the left side at some points . I showed it to 2 different local mechanics as my SVC is 20 kms off. One of them said that the sprocket is damaged . The other replied that one of the ball-bearings must have broken .

Now I don't know what to do. I'll possibly show it to the SVC guys tomorrow. But has anyone faced such a problem with FZ before?

a lot of people have given their feedback to your query, it is more or less the same i wanna share with u.

I have gone for 2 rides with pillion, but it were like same day return trips, so we were not having any luggage. just 1 back pack. i covered 600 kms in a single day, it was great, it was little painful at the end of the trip, which i suppose, we would have felt on any bike. yes it is not very comfortable for the pillion. but i think its an amazing bike for trips if u r riding without a pillion. and wen u luv riding u dont make fuss about small things and u can arrange some or the other thing to carry ur belongings.

but yeah if u r looking to dump hell lot of things as people do on enfield, i dont know how the machine will react.

                          peace

                            Hi,

Will surely let you know for the issue. IMO this can lead to dangerous possibilities by damaging the rim of the tire. If the tire wobbles with more deviations, it can damage the bearings and sprocket too.

guys it can be cause of the rear ball bearings...do a simple test ....

                              1. place the bike on the main stand.
2.make sure the wheel in question is suspended in the air above the ground level (it can rotate freely)
                              3.rotate the wheel .

if the wheel wobbles then the bearings are gone and need to be replaced. This happens due to normal wear and tear and is a part of any motorcycles maintainance.

dont ride the bike much until they have been replaced as otherwise the damage can be much more extensive....i ignored the same prblm in my other bike and it cost me a bomb....

                              • Hi All,

Thanks a lot for your response!!! I am not looking for an all and out tourer. I'm not there yet . I would be making only short trips,(chennai-pondy, chennai-bang) and from what I hear its not bad. I can live with a little wrist pain and backache. For all I know i've done 300+ on my apache 150 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just wanted to know if its not at all doable!!
