Hey guys thought this might be useful info. Check out the mesh seat cover for the Lord. Design to keep our butts stress free and allows good air flow

Unfortunately I dont know anyone who's managed to get theirs hands on it :-(

Cost around 1.2k last I heard. SVC never heard of it as usual. Ny one in B'lore managed to get one???

I might have to take this bike as soon as I buy to a 1000 KM ride over 6-7 days. Now is this something that I should avoid with the new bike? Please let me know. Will it damage the bike to go so far without a service? Will the engine hold up well?

      Look forward!
1000 Kms should be fine. The bike is good enough to handle it. Though try and avoid running > 60kmph (4.5k rpm) for first 500 km and then > 80 kmph (6k rpm) for 500-1000 km. If the distance does exceed 1000km then you'd better change the engine oil (if possible of course).

        @dude_phenom
but does it really make it comfortable?i mean for longer rides?or does it only gives air flow?

Having never used I wouldnt know. Read this in another website all together when I myself faced sore bums. Couldnt get my hands one at all. One more thing about this particular cover is its apparent dryness during rains. Some guys say that your pants will not get wet at all, even after the bike's been standing in a shower. Not sure how that's possible, but thats what I've read.

Please Please some one let me/us know about any seat covers... That is probably the only factor that hasnt made the FZ an out an out tourer.

            • Thanks..

              Hi all..

Got my fzs (b n y) last week.. Its a great ride..

Thanks to all u guys n this thread, i have been reading all ur comments for a while and it really helped..

A couple of queries (though i know these hav been discussed numerous times here):

              - Anyone got a kick installed? Cost?
              - Is split seat possible on this bike? Cost?

              Comment

              • ^ firstly congo on the bike...ride safe...always wear a helmet....

installing a kick would nullify all ur warranties...not many of us here have faced problems on the start even in this weather....
if facing the prblem u can start the stead by the standard method used to start a car which has stalled....put in gear press clutch....push and release clutch...that shud do it....as for the seat i am not sure....

@Ranjith have been recommended the seat cover by another xbpian who uses it....but then again i fail to understand the reason why a seat cover shud make the seat any better....
sigpicGirls are like roads, more the curves, more the dangerous they are.

To ride or not to ride?? is a....
                very very stupid question....

Hi, I have put this cover on my FZ using it from 2 months. Yes for long rides you wont feel that numbness in the butt. Acts like the beaded seat cover which is used in cars, so acupuncture effect, And Air circulation does happen under. And slight cushion feeling also. Ya, seat did not get wet in rainy season since there is half an inch mesh gap between seat and you.

This seat cover is starp-on under the seat, so can be removed and clean the seat any time. Got it from Orion SVC bangalore. I had posted the photo also in this same thread sometime back.

Yes it can be the reason. If the chain is getting tight at some points and lose on some then its a problem of sprocket. The whole sprocket set will be changed along with the chain...

Yesterday I found out that my rear tire has started wobbling by approx 1 cm to the left side at some points . I showed it to 2 different local mechanics as my SVC is 20 kms off. One of them said that the sprocket is damaged . The other replied that one of the ball-bearings must have broken .

Now I don't know what to do. I'll possibly show it to the SVC guys tomorrow. But has anyone faced such a problem with FZ before?

An update on my query. I went to the SVC today to get my bike checked. The guy said that the rear sprocket is damaged and needs to be changed. But also said that the I can use the same sprocket for another 1000-2000 km. It'll cost me 1700/- and will take 2-3 hours. So I'll be giving it on Monday for the sprocket change.
                      Hi,

I inquired about my sprocket through various channels and came to know that 1700/- cost is for both rear + front sprocket along with the chain set. So I'll be having a complete new set of chain + sprockets...

                      • hmmm... 1700rs for the whole set ... me and my friend had been to the SVC to drop off our FZ's for service , my 3rd and his 6th . so the guys said that his chain is completely worn out and needs replacing , he said it's 773Rs for the chain and a further 200 for the front socket ... also even though the bike hasn't been dropped or anything he said that the handlebar was bent and also the fork , the repair for this would come up to about 800Rs ( forks ) and 230 for the handle ... i had a rear puncture , so they fixed it right there ... he was very particular about the tyre pressure being maintained at 33psi for rear , saw a couple of bikes with cracks on the rear tyre with higher pressure ... also was recommending BP speed fuel saying it's better than the rest , dunno how far true that is ... jus thought i'd let u guys know .

                        • Guys I have noticed that almost all mechanics have the tendency of overtightening the chain, I do myself check for slackness after every adjustment. When the chain is tight and the bike goes in a pitfall both the chain and sprockets get damaged.

If your rear shocker seems to be stiffer than usual and the ride is bumpy, chain is noisy particularly frnt sprocket when reversing the bike.

Bike should not be driven in this condition as it causes permanent damage to chain sprocket and chassis.

Plz get your chains checked and rectified, Chains failing at 20k are signs of bad maintainence.

One blunt way of confirming is load your vehicle with 2 passengers and then check, there should be enough looseness to make the chain hit the metal/rubber near the foot-rest
Kingdom FAR FAR away is where I wanna be...
But I can't find a road headed that way.

Hey thanks for the info mate, but my sprocket got damaged even before 12k . I've ridden some bumpy tours in monsoons where our terrific Indian roads are exposed . I've had these tours alone (single rider) on bike. And the chain wasn't tight AFAIK. God knows the error here...

Dunno if its because of the SPEED fuel (I've been using only SPEED since I got the delivery of the bike) or its the 2nd service. Earlier I used to get a mileage of ~42 kms/l but after my 2nd service have been getting ~53 Kms/l . I was about to post the confirmation of the mileage some time later as I am now in the second iteration of my reserve to reserve testing, but just wanted to say that maybe using SPEED does help in someway.

oh ! 53 kmpl , nice , i've got about 56 on a couple of long trips , thats about it ... else it's been 43 constant , i've been using shell only . so could fuel really help that much ? coz the guy says shell is the worst but for the name .
