this is not good.. as with lean mixture, the engine has to do unnecessary extra work and is damaged in the long run.. (and it looks like very lean)
        get the tuning done..

        Ride safe and have fun.

The mixture is lean, this is bad for the bike. When was the last time you changed the plug? How long have you been running like this??

          Cheerz!!

If it is leaking from one tube only then you can ride it but be very careful especially while breaking and hitting bumps. You would have noticed that your suspension is softer and it will affect handling. So you can ride but need very careful!

The mileage drop and engine heating issues after the third service of the bike seems to be a common issue. But there is no need to worry, the engine heating issue consequently reduces after you ride the bike for around 500-750 kms after the service and the mileage willl be back to the figures which you used to get previously.
About the engine oil thing, its beeter to stick to YAMALUBE until warranty, but i feel YAMALUBE is good enough for the bike. For smoothness, your service guy may advice Yamalube 4T 15w which they call it ''synthetic oil'' and will be billed for Rs 412/- and this should help , or else the normal yamalube oil serves the purpose well. I have 14500 kms on my odo and have never used any other oils.

I would like to suggest you to stick to a good service centre and be friendly with the svc guys, it certainly helps. They will take good care of your vehicle as i have experienced. You may also ask the mechanics to change the engne oil in your presense, while you leave your bike for service. There are many cases of those people not replacing the oil and the just adding up some fresh oil to it which is callled as ''top up''. So better check for it when you head for the next service. Hope this helps
Wish, you have a great experience of your loved machine!
Hi bro.. thank you so much for the information.. i took the bike to svc guys as they asked me to come.. they only checked the spark plug and chain for lube nothing else.. as i was concerned about the mileage more and engine being not free, those guys did not respond well.. he said come after a week and will do mileage check nothing else.. these panache yamaha guys in bangalore, have opened a new service centre, and work is going on.. but he says there will be bikes coming for service so you please come after a week.. it does not make any sense to me.. even i went for the same right ? i did not go to trust as they will do nothing even if i go after one week.. i changed engine oil to shell ultra(fully synthetic) as my trusted friend said.. and yes it is.. as soon as i drove after the oil change, i felt bike being sooo smoother and gear shift and sound is bit softer now.. but what shocked me is, its just been 400 odd KMs after the service and oil change was done(i was not at the service centre, just ave them and picked it) and oil is totally black in color and its thick as if i ran 1000+ plus kms with it so i decided not to trust those guys much.. please tell me if i can give my bike for service to a service centre other than the one i purchased from.. am confused if they really do it well, since i did not get the bike from them and going to them for a free service ? hoping so mileage will also increase in due time.. thanks lot for your reply..
@bikashnayak i suggest you to change to synthetic oil as soon as possible.. i feel the bike lot more better as soon as the oil is changed.. what was the response for the mileage drop from the service guys ?

@cvijaysanthoshreddy If possible, leave your bike at SPRINT YAMAHA on Hosur road, near oxford engineering college. They provide a pretty good service. The svc center is pretty good when compared to others in Bangalore. My bike has been serviced 9 times over there and due for its 10th! No problems faced.

i changed engine oil to shell ultra(fully synthetic) as my trusted friend said.. and yes it is.. as soon as i drove after the oil change, i felt bike being sooo smoother and gear shift and sound is bit softer now
: I suggest you to stick to YAMALUBE until you complete your warrenty period. The service Peaople will object and you may even face warrenty void issues. Instead, you can use YAMALUBE 4T 15w Synthetic oil available at service center itself. Ask them for it instead of standard oil and you will get the similar smoothness which you have experienced with the Shell one.

its just been 400 odd KMs after the service and oil change was done(i was not at the service centre, just ave them and picked it) and oil is totally black in color and its thick as if i ran 1000+ plus kms with it
: Oil does not turn black for 400 kms for sure! It is made to last for 2000-2500 kms atleast and I have never experienced such. Others here may be able to explain this.

don't know about this.. mine is also leaking oil from one fork and due to a busy schedule, i have not been able to visit svc.. will try to do so in a couple of days..

Yes you can get your bike serviced at any Yamaha service center. It doesn't have to be the one you bought the bike from.

There has been a pretty good discussion on this thread about which engine oil is better for our bikes. Though there isn't the one "silver bullet" engine oil, the general consensus has been that Yamahalube is not that good. So it's better that you change to some other engine oil.
I personally have been on motul since my first service.

Again there had been a good debate whether to switch to synthetic oils early during the engine break in is good or not (there are reasons you can do it and there are reasons not to do it). It doesn't harm to use a semi synthetic or synthetic oil before 1-1.5k odo. But if that makes you uncomfortable, then remain on mineral oil but go for other brands like motul or Shell or Castrol. Once you start feeling your engine becoming smoother you can switch to semi synthetic or synthetic oil.

This was my engine oil timeline.
                      Purchase-1st service: Yamahalube
1st service: switched to Motul 3100 4T mineral oil
                      2nd service: Motul 3100 4T
                      3rd service: Motul 5100 15w50 semi-synthetic
                      4th service: Motul 5100 15w50
Around 3k kms after 4th service I switched to Motul 7100 15w50 fully synthetic oil and it's awesome. The engine feels alive now. Moutl's 5100 is a thicker oil which causes the engine to feel a little restrained (and drops the mileage a bit). 7100 is excellent although a bit pricey!

I have not faced any problem with the oils I have been using till now.

The SVC should not object to changing to a oil brand other than Yamahalube. If they say so ask them where is it written that using another brand of oil voids the warranty. The guys at Orion Yamaha opp. to Forum mall never told me this (they do try to convince you to buy Yamahlube though ).
If they are still adamant, tell them that you are not going to give the bike there and you are going to complain to Yamaha.

The only possible reason seems to be that the oil was not changed. It will turn a little dark if the engine is new and is breaking in. But the way it has been described does not point to any other possibility.

Yeah dude i guess so the oil might not be changed, should have been like the 'top up' you said about.. Yeah i heard about Sprint Yamaha, and one next to phoenix market city which is near to me.. So i hope even this might be good to give for service ?

And reg engine oil, yeah i took your advice but as my friend talking about it i thought i will give it a try once.. later will go for yamalube/motul.. Thanks again

Thanks for the detailed information friend.. that is helpful to understand.. and yeah should try for yamalube/motul later after this.. as of now this one i felt being good, as my friend suggested and found his bike being smoother on this..

And yeah even i guess oil was not changed but i had to pay..

And can you please suggest me a good mechanic to tune my bike, as the pick up is being dull.. I have been going through the threads in here, got some contacts but i did not find any reviews by any others going to the posted mechanic.. Thanks for your reply

yes suspension is very soft.....nd while turning there some sort of misalignment toward the left side..i feel like i am loosing control.......also what will be the total cost of changing fork oil in both forks??....do i need to do that? as only the left one is leaking.

I know that feel bro same condition here..
coming to topic, as i know, oil in the forks helps in the shock capacity.. When the oil starts leaking, it would loose pressure and make the suspension more softer and hence hamper the stability of the bike.. And if only one side is in this condition, then the instability would be even more..
in my case also the right one is leaking.. Will go today and ask for the price of changing the oil and seals in both the forks.. Will let you know..

                              Ride safe and have fun.

Change oil in both forks. Look for damaged seal in other fork also. The cost of fork oil is not that much (dont know the exact price).
