Lets talk about a service manual.

I am searching desperately for a service manual for past few days.I asked at the service center but it wasnt available there either.
A service manual is really a treasure for any bike owner.I searched for R15 and found one immediately.I downloaded and went through it.I felt like i was englightened. It has very simple explanation for every repair work.

I feel like a service manual compulsary even for a root level customer. At list we can make sure our bike is being treated well by service center idiots if we follow the manual.
While doing engine rebuilt i am preety sure they donot use torque wrench and proper lubricant and bond as specified on the manual. We can make them do so only if we have the manual.

Long story short a service manual is must for a any owner who likes to have even minimum knowledge about his bike.

So lets work together to get one.Together we may have success.

My 4th service is coming next week. It might be the issue of Engine oil "YAMAHA LUBE" I am thinking for opting another best Engine OIL.

Can Service center change the Engine Oil from Yamaha lube to any another Or I have to do it myself. They charge me Rs.345 for free service ( YAMAHA 4T 20W-40 SL, 1L(Rs.305) + ELEMENT ASSY,OIL CLEANER (Rs.40) ) Plzz help me out choosing best Engine Oil as I don't know much ..!!!

Also my Bike mileage is been change before it was giving 38-39Km now it is giving 32-33 max.

My bike 3rd service was done from another service center as OKHLA in NEW DELHI, Before my 1st and 2nd service was done in same center (YUSUF SARAI, NEW DELHI)

No other Problems in My Bike as ODO meter is 3200km
              Hello @bikashnayak and @cvijaysanthoshreddy,
The mileage drop and engine heating issues after the third service of the bike seems to be a common issue. But there is no need to worry, the engine heating issue consequently reduces after you ride the bike for around 500-750 kms after the service and the mileage willl be back to the figures which you used to get previously.
About the engine oil thing, its beeter to stick to YAMALUBE until warranty, but i feel YAMALUBE is good enough for the bike. For smoothness, your service guy may advice Yamalube 4T 15w which they call it ''synthetic oil'' and will be billed for Rs 412/- and this should help , or else the normal yamalube oil serves the purpose well. I have 14500 kms on my odo and have never used any other oils.

I would like to suggest you to stick to a good service centre and be friendly with the svc guys, it certainly helps. They will take good care of your vehicle as i have experienced. You may also ask the mechanics to change the engne oil in your presense, while you leave your bike for service. There are many cases of those people not replacing the oil and the just adding up some fresh oil to it which is callled as ''top up''. So better check for it when you head for the next service. Hope this helps
Wish, you have a great experience of your loved machine!

Thank You Bhaiii.... Coming Monday I will be taking My Bike for 4th Service. I do keep your valuable suggestion in my mind. Earlier three services I Just give my bike in service center and come to home as they told me it will take 3-4hours, when I came back my bike is always ready. I never thought about they don't replace engine OIL and "top Up" what You said.

This Time I will standing in front of SVC guy when he will be doing bike servicing. And How much time it may take for servicing a new bike.

                Thanks once again..

Its your ignorance that you used to leave your bike there and go home.. You should always stay there..
and when you stay there, they won't allow you to stay on the head of the mech.. There is customer area, stay there and watch from there.. When they change the oil, only then go to the bike.. And if they ask you to go back, say polietly.. Being friendly is really important.

                  Ride safe and have fun.

Yrrr Ofcourse it's my ignorance , I have tried to ask them please call me when my Bike is going to be serviced... They use to say "Phele ki bhi Bikes hai..Bhaiya Time Lagega 3-4 Hour" As I know the SVC Guys very well . I am always polite from my side as they are also. Thats why I trust them, they are not rude anyway. As I am new I dont know about this thing very much.

                    But thanks anyways..!!

If you have the service centre nearby and have enough time to witness your bike getting serviced, its fine. There may be many bikes over there for service so you will have to wait for your bike's turn for quite some time (usually no one does wait, neither me!) . Generally in the free services , your bike will undergo washing, basic service and inspection. This may take 2-3 hours max. As per my knowledge, they change the engine oil at the last ie, before polishing. So usually we cant stay there and watch the whole process for hours. So kindly request the service advicer to change the oil in your presence while leaving the bike with them and dont wait for their call to let you know that the bike has been serviced. Head to the service station after few hours after you leave your bike and you can watch your bike being worked.

Another Tip is, leave your bike for the service in the month end if possible, the number of bikes for them to service during that time will be less and they will patiently attend you.

About the BOLD part.. If you can't give a few hours n watch over your own bike, then is not worth it and ask for a problem free bike..
i in my 9-10 services have always stayed at the svc and at one time for 5.5 hrs.. Had to some part changes at that time.. So we can always take time.. Its the matter of priorities..

to the query poster, stay there till the servicing is done..

If the concern is engine oil only then you can do this. Tell them that you will get them oil yourself and ask them not to change it. Then while taking your bike back give them the oil. They will change it in front of you.

                          Cheers!!

Its not about the engine oil only.. As I have experienced, the mechs tend to be more careful and look into your complaints/problems mentioned in the job card if the customer is present at the svc.. Have seen all this myself..
Well its a personal choice.. My bro also leaves his R15 and comes home..
But I like to stay there and check what the mech is doing time to time..

Let us not Spam the thread more on one discussion. The best practice is to stay with the bike. The SVC does say it will take 4-5 hours. But, from my experience, it dosen't take more than 2 hours if there is no big issue with the bike (no parts changing or so). The basic servicing time is normally as mentioned below:

Air Filter cleaning : 10 mins.
Engine Oil change : 20 mins max.
Oil Filter change : 10 mins.
Chain lubing and cleaning : 5-10 mins.
                              Washing : 15 mins.
                              Billing : 10 mins.

Total time : 75 mins for servicing.

If you sit there, the priority will be given to your bike at the earliest.

                              Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.
