first placed the bike on center stand then removed the front sprocket coverOriginally posted by jkhan69 View PostPlease share the clean procedure you followed...it'd be of great help.
I had also asked my cousin to help me
Took some kerosene and 2 old toothbrushes we started applying kerosene
and started to brush from all sides
Kerosene should be washed away after some time it shouldn't be allowed to sit on the chain for long time
after complete;y cleaning all the links of the chain and both sprockets
cleaned it with a cloth Allowed it to dry for some 10 to 20 min
Then sprayed the lube on both the sides and kept it for drying
I want to know approximately how much lube should be applied
Note Always use a glove your hands will get very very dirty without gloves i couldn't find a glove today will be prepared from next time
tool about 1.5 hours

Since you ride a lot on the highways,I guess the Fazer fairing would help ..Originally posted by nand15 View PostGuys planning to sell my headlight assy with the projector and angel eye ... It's a single beam H3 projector , I want to to go for the Bi-Xenon setup now ... Or if i go nuts , which I am known to be , I would put the fazer's fairing on my bike and try a dual projector setup on that one ...
I don't know how you manage with the wind blasts on the naked Fz,they buffet me even with the fairing which provides relief if I crouch

There is no specific amount of lube you can apply , just make sure you get an even spread on the chain , Generally a couple of rounds does the job . Do not overspray as it might lead to slipping of the chain ...Originally posted by Sunjay Kumar View PostI want to know approximately how much lube should be applied

Another thing to note very carefully is keep your fingers well away from the sprocket area when you wipe the chain after cleaning ... People have lost fingers as it gets jammed in the sprocket . I myself have cut my finger once ...
Stay safe
@rohan_5013 : yes that would be one of the reasons too ... It's crazy at high speeds .Last edited by nand15; 08-13-2011, 12:12 AM.People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

New kick start (stock) is it really worth it?
1) has your bike given you any trouble with cranking up the engine to start?
2) how much would be a cost replacing the old battery to a new one should the battery die?? = 700-1200 bucks and that too after 2.5 - 3.5 years provided the battery has been topped up at regular intervals (unless you've bought an maintenance free batt)and the terminals kept clean and greased to avoid carbon & sulphur deposition. worst case scenario the only probable thing that may fail would be the relay which only costs around 80 bucks to replace.
3) in comparison, what is cost of installing a kick starter to your bike?= 2800-3000 bucks.
so the question you should ask yourself is.. is it really worth spending so much unless you have faced an issue with your bike?
in my opinion pricing wise= not worth it.
Cheers
Thanks alot man
Guys Anyone else also think KICK START is not worth it?

It's been slightly above two years now, and I've completed 17000 kilometers on my bike. I've never felt the need for a kick start, and I still am running on the same battery.Originally posted by w00d@bangalore View PostNew kick start (stock) is it really worth it?

I take care of things (including charging and topping up fluids in the battery) religiously though.

New member to the FZ club
Guys,
Here is a new addition to the FZ owners club.
Got my Yellow streak FZ-S delivered two days back.
Some observations:
- Love the engine. Vibe free, Nice grunt and very very torquey
- Superb handling. Easy on corners and supremely stable on straights.
- Slick Gearshift. All gears slot correctly. No false neutrals.
- Brakes have enough bite. Wide tyres complement them.
- Ride is a bit stiff. I may have to adjust the rear suspension.
- Fit, Finish is awesome. Paint finish is top notch.
- Headlamp is good for city use. Thank fully mine came with a Philips bulb. Low beam spread is good. High beam goes to the top of trees and buildings. May have to adjust the focus.
- Front number plate is a true eyesore. Might have to find a workaround.
- Some poor ergonomics. Side stand is below the gear lever and I have to look down when engaging it.
- Kick starter has been added in the latest versions but heck, I have to fold the rider right foot rest to engage it.
- Switches are hard to use but of good quality.
- The console is good but has poor visibility when there is bright sunlight.
- Tail lamp and Indicators are small but bright enough to attract attention.
- Mirrors provide an excellent view due to the wide handle bars.
I have been getting mixed opinions of Service centers and I'm confused.

The suspension will improve as you gain kms
Adjusting the high beam is easy just lose a nut on the left side and adjust the lamp
I never felt that the sunlight visibility bad its good
How many kms have you done
Complete the run in with care
Ride safe

I agree to that. But what I wanted to know is who listens, understands our problems better and helps us in solving them.
