Reason being,I saw a Fazer with extremely skinny tyres and could not catch up to him even though I was shifting at 7-8k rpms on the Old Airport Road
Hmmmm not possible may be he has done some mod on his bike...Because i was racing with fz on the ring rd who had r15 tyres on his bike and this was before i got the big bore kit done on the bike and i beat him....

Maybe he was not pushing his bike Coz skinny tyres weigh less and have less drag than the tractor stock tyres..

        • Guys can the FZ rim take the R15 tyres ? ...

Speaking of racing , I got beaten by a dio guys ... ,unforgettable , I was at 105 odd with a pillion on an arrow straight outer ring road ( before the construction began ) with no traffic and the dio still beat me ... so I guess fazer losing to fazer shouldn't be a problem ...
People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

Dio going at speeds of 105+?? Dio overtaking a speeding FZ would have been quite funny to watch though
After today's incident I've seriously started thinking about thinner tyres..more mileage, more performance but grip and appearance will take a beating

Quite the sight ... , it was very funny for my pillion though who had the time of her life taking the mickey outta me ... but not after I pushed it to about 110+ , she was shitting bricks after that ...

But I think you could go with a 130/70 tyre for better mileage and wee bit more top speed I guess without messing up the appearance big time ... and sprocketting can help too .

                • Big Bore: the story so far
finally completed my running in. made a dash till kankpura this morning to finish the 70odd kms that was left. early morning rides are so refreshing. taken a while to complete the running in, all thanks to the b'lore weather.

now coming to the big block. after the installation, the response from the engine is very good. the difference from the stock is very substantial and noticeable. the FE has also gone up (i've not calculated but it shows). the big question about the top speed. well i was disappointed. it maxed out at 110 on NICE rd there's a catch to it but not sure about its impact level. i'v still not changed the engine oil (as instructed to Joel to change the oil after running in). the current oil is full syn agip and is about 1k old. will have it changed by the next week and see how it goes.
the good thing is it reaches triple digits pretty fast.

                  cheers!

                  • Guys,

My FZ is about 10 days old and I noticed that the rear brakes are squealing a bit when I stop. This is after riding for a few kms. It comes and goes by itself.

Also, it was raining for the last 2 nights and my ride was through slush and mud.

Please let me know if it's normal and it takes some time for brake pads to set themselves

                        chill dude,

the squealing of the brakes is a common problem during monsoons as the moisture sets in the brake shoe.

just give it a proper wash and then ride for a couple of kms with a 5-6 instances of hard braking with caution to remove the excess water.

Thanks! Will spraying some WD 40 inside help ? I saw that there are some holes in the hub, probably to aid cooling.

A stock FZ is capable of doing close to 130kmph.

Never spray any kind of lubricant to the brakes.Like kinshuk said get your bike washed well.Brakes squeal when dirt builds up
