My rear wheel is in last setting indeed .. Thanks a lot devils_friend for the info, as i didn't know what was right to do when the local mechanic told me that the sprockets were fine and i'm being ripped off by Yamaha authorized service. Well, I will get them sorted soon. thanks again mate!
Cheers!

In addition to what has already been said let me add this.
If you are getting the chain replaced then get the sprockets replaced as well. That's because a partially worn out sprocket will wear out the chain faster. You get the whole set together anyway.

Ya, they don't sell only chain or only sprockets.. The whole set is sold together..

Ps: if anyone is visiting svc.. Can you guys ask them if the seat from newer fz's fit on the older fz..? Or if anyone has a friend with whom they can check this.. It will be very helpful..
As the seat on the newer fz's is relative more comfortable for the pillion (increased dimensions)

Ride safe and have fun.

Don't think the new seat would fit on the older models. Even if the seat latches correctly, the grab rails on the older fz would most likely get in the way. The newer models have the grab rails moved towards the side to accommodate the wider seat.

A noob query. Can a well maintained and cleaned Air Filter cause any issues like heating of engine? Air Filter has been used for 11.5k kms. The fins of Air Filter have been deformed into wavy thing. Can this cause heating issues in engine?

Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

if you are facing power loss at the time of acceleration, then AF could be the culprit.. as at that time, more air is being sucked into the engine and if AF is not working properly, air flow won't be normal and the power loss..
or engine oil could be the reason..

As per the service manual, an air filter should be replaced at every 12,000 kms. My personal experience: doesn't last more than 9k if the city you live in is quite dusty. won't cost you much so i feel you should replace it and see..

Cheers,

I had suggested the same to another guy few months back.

Lamination from mobile shop.. weird but workable solution.. lets see if i can find someone in my locality up for the job..

Well, havent faced any issues as such with acceleration. Looks like i need to change it to be on the safer side.

Yesterday while draining the Engine Oil I noticed that, the oil was piping hot whilst pouring down. Was on Motul 5100 15W50 and my experience with it was real bad. The engine use to heat up like anything and it could be felt on the foot while changing the gears, through the engine bay. So, is it a normal phenomenon that the oil is this hot? Earlier while i have drained the oil, the oil was not this hot. I could see vapors in the collected oil.

Can somebody highlight this?

Guys, I often wonders what is the significance of the aluminium piece right below the suspension on either part of the FZ. Any idea abt it

dude .....there this brake lever behind that shield...its basically to protect your foot/pants from getting intertwined in the lever...... + stylish too.. :P

its also present in the other side too...it shields your foot/pants from getting caught in the chain

Which MOTUL oil are you referring to 10W30 or 45 something else?

Planning to change the rear tyres not getting the stock MRF tyres, please recommend me some alternatives or from where I can get in mumbai.
