Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hey guys,
I was googling for light mods and I found this somewhere in this forum.
I fell in love with this particular one.(attached images)
I'm planning to go for this one after my first service.
Please guide me how to do it, which light is it? How much might a tech guy charge for doing this.
I am from Hanumanthnagar, Bangalore

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Did around 200kms in the 5100 15w50 now. Some observations
It takes time to warm up. Even after idling for 2 mins, it needs 4-5km riding to get it warmed up. Until then there is some sort of a stickiness. Not sure how to articulate this. Something like when you try to stretch a half chewed chewing gum. Doesn't affect the riding in the true sense, but feels odd.
Doesn't feel any better after warming up. Have gone only up to ~6500rpm. Didn't feel anything different from the mineral oil. No improvement in overall smoothness or refinement. Pretty much the same. In fact the engine heat is pretty much the same at the end of my usual commute with similar riding style and traffic conditions. Will try redlining on the highways some time in the weekend to see if there's anything there.
Gear shifts have become TIGHT. Used to be really smooth on the mineral oil. Any chance of improvement here?
Overall, DISAPPOINTING

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
The guy at the store where I bought it from insisted that yamalube is still motul. (I remember someone claiming they are different now). He showed me the bottles. They were the same kind, same colours and even the stickers were somewhat same.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostHave had the exact same disappointment with Yamalube SS 15w50. Maybe this grade of oil isn't to the engines liking.
Are you still using it?

Ya, still using the same. Can't waste 550rs.Originally posted by eliksir View PostThe guy at the store where I bought it from insisted that yamalube is still motul. but now its slightly better. Much better when compared to it being new. Ride for more and see if it changes.
I also thought the same for motul and yamalube.

20w40 and 20w50 are recommended in the manual.Originally posted by Pinaki View Postwhat is the oil grade recommended in the owner's manual ?
