Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
ok.. will do that.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostI am also using the same Bosch fluid.
Can you please post a pic of the old fluid when you open the master cylinder.
I asked for 250 ml only but the bosch service center had only 500 ml of Dot 4 fluid hence this.Originally posted by SparKot View PostWhy buy a 500ml bottle? won't a 250ml bottle do?
Is it required to change the pads? I have a spongy feeling, but the mechanic just asked me to put new brake fluid a month back, that's it. The pads look more or less the same thickness as new ones. I am at 17.5 K kms on the stock ones.

Can't make out the grooves from the pics. If they're within service-limit(runout limit) we don't have to replace them. They just need cleaning/dusting. Then what will do with the ones you just bought?Originally posted by muztariq View PostIs it required to change the pads?
Perhaps, he sensed brake fluid is gone and need replacement.Originally posted by muztariq View PostI have a spongy feeling, but the mechanic just asked me to put new brake fluid a month back, that's it.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I was considering changing the rear tyres because of skidding and even though the grooves are still in place (25k km). Boarded the electronic city flyover and within 200 metres it started raining. Had no choice but to keep riding the next 8-10km in rain. Towards the middle of the flyover, there was some water logging. Anyways, the tyres held on and didn't skid even once. Now having second thoughts about changing it.
BTW, the R15v2 rear tyres seem almost as flat as the FZ stock tyres.
Also changed the oil to motul 5100 15w50. Rode only 2-3km after that. Didn't notice any difference at all. Hopefully something tomorrow.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I just changed the Chain sprocket set. Costed me all the three(small sprocket, big sprocket and chain) @ Rs. 1210. Don't know the labour cost as I have changed them myself. By the way the O-ring chains are from Rolon and they don't have any removable links. Also changed the rubber inside the back wheel sorry don't know the exact name of the part. Now the bike is as good as new.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostWhen i had changed the chain sprocket kit, it had costed me Rs. 1150. Over a period of time, the cost has increased.
Cheerz!!
Yes, the price should be without labor charges. With labor the pricr should be same as mentioned by you.
Cheerz!!
Cheers.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
AFAIK, R15 rear tyre is 130 and not 140 (stock on FZ). Fitting 130 will have serious handling issues. Since you have already covered 25k kms, it is better to change the tyre soon. Change it before proper monsson season begins.Originally posted by eliksir View PostI was considering changing the rear tyres because of skidding and even though the grooves are still in place (25k km). Did you buy the set from SVC or from shop? Since you haven't replaced the chain at SVC, their will not be any labor charge for the same. You got some skill bro to change the set all by yourself :thumbup:Originally posted by accuengineer View PostI just changed the Chain sprocket set. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I bought it from SVC(Ambal Motors, chennai). I am a mechanical engineer and I have all the proper tools like torque wrench, etc and the most valuable service centre manual. There is step by step method to do almost all the repair work. And DIY is my passion from my childhood like riding.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostDid you buy the set from SVC or from shop? Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Thanks for the updates buddy...Originally posted by kusmaker View PostThere are number of things that you can do for your beloved.
1. Get your bike serviced properly(and i mean properly), rectify any minor or major part before storing the bike.
2. Drain petrol completely out from your petrol tank and carburettor.
3. After draining petrol from gas tank pour some oil in it and rotate the tank so that the inner walls of the tank is coated with an oil film.
4. Unscrew spark plug pour on teaspoon of engine oil in it and crank it over several times with ignition off.
5. Tightly plugg bikes exhaust with some clean rags.
6. Fill empty space in air cleaner box with some clean rags.
7. You can also fill up the engine case with maximum engine oil.
8. Tightly coverup the front disc brakes master cylinder, disc brake caliper, apply some oil on the disc from both sides to prevent it from rusting, drain brake fluid completely.
9. Lubricate all of the nuts bolts, brake rods, and any other small items, or you can spray them with WD40 sparay.
10. Pull out your battery get if fully recharged cover it up and keep the battery in some warm place or in a store.
11. Lift the bike wheels off the ground, purchase some old milk crate or soft drink crate or a stool(if you don't want to invest in a service stand), lifting the wheels off the ground will not only save your tyres but will also save bikes suspension.
12. Clean and lubricate the chain properly.
13. Purchase good quality bike cover.
14. Whenever you return to use your bike change all the fluids.
There are more things which i might have missed, so for more information you can try this link How to Store Your Motorcycle for the Winter and Cold Weather
I hope by following these methods your bike will remain as new as it is now. cheerz

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
There are loads of people who have put 120 on the rear (not here, but seen a lot on the roads) and they claim to not have had any issues. I was thinking of the 130 but someone said it's not flat like the FZ stock.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostAFAIK, R15 rear tyre is 130 and not 140 (stock on FZ). About changing the tyres, that's exactly what I meant. I feel obliged to change since its 25k kms old, but had no issues/niggles at all in seriously wet / waterlogged conditions.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Not sure about the quantity. But, if you go to the SVC to change it, they fill the measuring can with Fork Oil and fill one shock absorber. They repeat the same for other too.Originally posted by vinay1552 View Posthie Fellows
Need to know how much fork oil is needed in front shock absorber
