One more thing, actually I'm 5.2 feet tall. There is no problem in handling the vehicle, but u know only the toes touch the ground. Any possible way to reduce the seat height? I can manage it without reducing also, but IF at all there is an option to reduce seat height,I wanna go for it that's y

Nope. The existing set is from when i purchased the bike.Originally posted by accuengineer View PostI think most of your queries are answered. I have a doubt by any chance did you change only the chain (or) sprockets before?

If its a Fazer, then the wrench to tighten the RVM nut is not in the tool kit.Originally posted by Gaurav2595 View Postum the nut is in a very weird position i don't know how to tighten it there's barely any space to put a screwdriver or any tool that i see ..
Got to any road side mechanic and he will do it either for free (if you know him) or 10 bucks is more than enough. Hardly takes a minute.sigpic

Or if you want to do it yourself then buy a socket spanner. I'm not sure of the correct size though.Originally posted by raj0690 View PostIf its a Fazer, then the wrench to tighten the RVM nut is not in the tool kit.

I don't know much what things to do for long term storing for bike.Originally posted by vimal_hbk View PostHello Guys, Posting after a long time.
* disconnect the battery.
* don't know about fuel (either should be kept in the tank or not).
* drain the old engine oil and fill up before storing (i think gunk in the old would settle during this period).
The info may not be much, others might be able to help more.
And best of luck on your future adventures.
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Long term storage instructions should be part of Owner's Manual as well. I honestly think you should give your ride to a trusted friend/relative for interim usage.Originally posted by vimal_hbk View Post...

Put Motorcycle in center stand
1. drain old engine oil, refill with new oil to the brim.
2. pour two tablespoonful of engine oil through spark plug hole.
3. take out battery and clean it. You may want to give it to a close friend/relative as it needs monthly check/charging.
4. fill fuel tank to the brim & drain fuel from carb-bowl/float.
rest you know; cleaning/covering. Take care of those pets/pests at storage place.Last edited by SparKot; 05-29-2014, 06:37 PM.There is no honest path to prosperity - KoKa

Storing a bike for long time, well you can do no. of things.
1. First of all get your bike properly serviced, if any small or big repair is needed get it done right now.
2. Use your bike petrol by running the engine till petrol tank gets empty, once petrol tank gets empty shut off the petcock and keep the engine running so that the carburetor float bowl and petcock empties.
3. Remove the gas tank from the bike pour 50 or 60ml of clean engine or 2t oil in it and shake the oil in all directions in the tank, now the tank has been coated with oil and it won't rust from inside.
4. Remove the battery and charge it completely and store it in a warm place.
5. Pull out Spark plug pour 20 ml of (one pouch) 2t oil in it through spark plug hole and crank it several times with ignition off to coat the inner walls of cylinder with oil.
6. Check for any kind of leaks from your bike and get it repaired.
7. Change the engine oil of your bike and fill it with fresh engine oil and that too upto the brim.
8. Clean the air filter, chain, and oil them, change the spark plugs.
9. Take load off from the tyre puchase some old soft drinks or milk crates and rest the bike on it, raising wheels off the ground will not only save the tires but also the suspension.
10. Fill the empty spaces in the bike with some clean rags, places like air filter passage, exhaust outlet and beneath the carburetor, and other small places where rodent can play and make there house.
11. Coat all of the nutbolts, welding joints, rear drum brake caliper, brake rod, with oil.
12. Remove front disc brake fluid and refill it whenever you return, although not everyone agrees with this theory, some says brake fluid should stay in the master cylinder and brake hose as it will keep them lubricated and there is little chance of brake fluid catching moisture.
13. Lastly purchase a good quality cover and rap it tightly over the bike.
I hope whenever you will return from abroad you gonna find your bike as good as new by applying these simple techniques, best of luck and do good.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hello Friends,
I just completed 60,000 Kms on my Fazer. I bought it on 2nd September 2009 (4 yrs and 9 months).
Its my first bike ever. You can say that this bike acutally thought me to ride. I just love him
(yes he's my brother).
The bike's taken me places , but its main use is my daily commute of 42 kms to office.
Have lived in Mumbai ever since I was a kid but its only when my bike came home I came to know so many roads and places. Prior to my bike I would commute by train.
So far the things that have changed in my bike are tyres, the carburetor , chain and sprocket. Other parts , stock.
I hate it when I see many fz16/fazers with broken indicators (i know some are broken by someone else in parking lots), but so far mine are intact.
Accidents : 3 ,
1. minor, was when the bike was about 2-3 months old and I pressed the front brakes too hard and I fell but this was within my society compound. No injuries , no damage to bike.
2. major/major (dunno), was standing at a signal at goregaon when a Tavera rear ended me , I fell hard , the bike on my legs . Was blanked out for a minute or so . People got me up , I looked at my bike , only the number plate was bent rest all fine. I was fine too , tavera guy apologized. Bike started , I went to office.
3. Major , first day of my Mumbai- Leh -Mumbai trip , our rule of 'no riding in dark' was broken and I fell due to bad road just entering Udaipur , and crash. Banged my head on the road, helmet saved me, jacket torn , leg guard bent , two fingers and a thumb swollen. I was shaken , but in some time things seemed better , started to ride again . Completed the 6000 kms journey in about 17 days
Apart from the Mumbai - Leh - Mumbai tour , I have done Mum- Udaipur - Mumbai with my wife (pillion) and Mumbai - Valsad - Mumbai (with wife pillion). Even though I have a car now I mostly ride , even if I have to go upto Nariman point (again with my wife pillion).
So at 60000 kms the bike is still in very good condition , just serviced it a week back. I wash and polish him personally (no watchman).
This is a great bike , really fun to ride in city as well as the highways . Have not pushed too hard but I think the max I have taken him is 118 kms/hr (on tours only). Not a rough rider.
Yes , I did have problems at very high altitudes. Was not able to pull it upto Khardungla top. Returned back to Leh , got some tuning done by a local mechanic with the carb and after that I climbed all other passes with ease.
Yes , my wife did complain about the pillion seat so got a seat cover which has some coushining, now all's fine.
The rear shock absorber has started to make some charrr charrrr noise when dismounting the bike , service guy says to replace the shock absorber (~ 3000 Rs) . Will see in next service.
Happy riding guys.

Congrats
Stories like yours give much confidence in would-be buyers like me
More pics please, especially of the rear seat with the cover.
Do you have a thread for the LEH trip ? I suppose the tuning by the mechanic that you are talking about is just making the fuel mix richer ?
