Hi, Bought a second hand FZ, it's already clocked 88K, any tips for a longer life ? It's for my dad, for me I got a Apache 180 ABS, dad have only minimal usage.

Oil changed to Yamalube, chain cleaned and lubed, spark plug changed.

88k kms is already long. IMO you shouldn't have bought a ride with this much mileage.
Now that you have it, do normal maintenance and replace the parts that need to be.

        Ride safe and have fun.

My Fazer had attained another small milestone. The ownership experience has been wonderful. Here is the recap:

Bought in March 2011. It has completed 4 years and 2 months as of now.

Major expenses incurred - Battery(after 3 years), Chain and sprocket(17k kms), Rear Tyre (18k kms), Brake pads(18k kms), Other consumables like Air filter-Spark plug-Oil and Oil filters(as per recommendation). I dont remember any other expense. All the above expenses were kind of preventive maintenance, I could have extracted much more life from the above products, but was losing convenience which was and is my prime requirement from the vehicle.

Would recommend Yamaha FZ/Fazer to anyone looking for a low maintenance super smooth motorcycle.

              • Fender Eliminator for Fz16

I was thinking of putting up a fender eliminator kit on my bike. I have searched many online portals for the same but, I found nothing cheaper than 4-5k and basically they were all for bigger bikes. Anyhow, what would you all suggest me to do? Get it fabricated from somewhere and spend the money wisely or buying it, which would probably make a hole in my pockets. Also, once I put on the kit, is it possible to revert back to the original fender? I was thinking that during monsoons it would clever to put on the original fender back as without it, the pillion rider would be spray painted for sure.

If anyone knows a good outlet for such accessories in Pune please share the details here. eagerly waiting for your replies.

Try with a friend who owns a 135LS or 200NS or visually inspect the mounting holes/screws.

                          • Re: Yamaha Fzs Engine Noise (Bore and Carb Problem)

For a bike 27k kms old, there shouldn't be any problem with the bore. Go to svc and ask them to install carb from another bike for trail just to confirm whether the problem is with the carb or not.

If the afr is lean, then also bike struggles to go to high speeds. Mine does 100+ with minimal vibs.

I can't watch the video right now, so can't comment on the noise.

Sure. Then i will ask them install a carb and check whether noise will get reduced. But recently they changed carb rubber but still issue persisted. So only had the confusion as to whether to go for carb only. I guess Afr is lean as i keep getting pop sounds from my silencer even at higher speeds. Guess installing new carb will resolve this problem.

Also there was this mechanic 1 from Yamaha who said its bore problem and now another mechanic telling its the same bore problem. Is there any way
i can figure out that it is indeed bore problem. If yes can you please let me know.

                                Thanks for the help

The noise is exactly the same as the one you have posted about fazer in that thread. The noise increases like anything as i increase the speed. My mechanic also said it was timing chain issue and he indeed put a new one. But sound was still there. Can you please tell me whether you went ahead with all those changes mentioned in the thread ? did it help ?

                                Thanks for the help
