Re: Yamaha Fzs Engine Noise (Bore and Carb Problem)
oh, that is strange as, for me it kept on increasing after each service and they all said its normal. Recently during my 9th service mechanic said it was Timing chain issue and he changed it, but noise was still there. Thats when he said its problem with bore and carb.Originally posted by muztariq View PostNo, I didnt do anything and it went away on its own.
Thanks

Re: Yamaha Fzs Engine Noise (Bore and Carb Problem)
Problem with Carburetor is understood. What is the problem with bore? If the bore has gone kaput, it will consume oil within first 200-300kms itself. So, check the oil level at regular intervals of 200-300kms gap and you will come to know, if it is bore issue or not.Originally posted by Ram22 View Postoh, that is strange as, for me it kept on increasing after each service and they all said its normal. I couldn't figure out the noise properly from the video. If the sound is like sewing machine, the timing chain is culprit. If it is tick tick, tappets are culprit.
Any drop in performance? The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!
Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I too experienced a strange noise when my bike had done around 20k kms. The bike also emitted black smoke and there was a huge drop in the performance. Tappet adjustment was all it needed. After the adjustment, I was advised to keep my revs low for a couple of hundred kms and the problem was solved.
About the popping sound, the the secondary air injector might be the culprit too.
So, you might need to check for the tappet adjustment and secondary air injector too as there just can't be any bore related problems at 27k kms, especially not in a Yamaha.

Re: Yamaha Fzs Engine Noise (Bore and Carb Problem)
I will start checking from today. Earlier in service station they mentioned that engine is consuming little oil, so it might be the problem with bore. I have uploaded another video with proper sound. Please check and let me know whether its the sound of Timing chain, because last service he changed the timing chain and finally he said it might be bore.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostProblem with Carburetor is understood. Any drop in performance?
Performance wise - Drop in top speed, Pick up has dropped, Pop sounds at even high speeds, Engine feels as if it is out of air, also very rough. Only good thing is i am getting a mileage of around 42km/l.

Thanks

Sure. Thanks. Next service i will ask him to check Tappet and Secondary air injector. I am not getting any black smoke, but performance has dropped.Originally posted by sachin_v View PostI too experienced a strange noise when my bike had done around 20k kms. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Good mileage and lack of performance in higher gears usually means the slide is sticking. Do inspect.

Cracker like sound coming from my Yamaha FZ 16, also not giving enough power
I have a Yamaha FZ-16, from a past few days some cracker type sound is coming from it, it is not even giving enough power, pick up is also down, sometimes I need to accelerate too much and it feels like the bike is going down, usually the engine gets off when that popping sound come from the bike, when I start the bike I need to accelerate it for 2-3 seconds otherwise the engine gets off. I went to the Yamaha service center, they started the bike and accelerated it to nearly 7000 rpm, at which the light blue color smoke was coming from the silencer, then he told me that the bore piston has gone, he said the bore piston and header valves need to be replaced which would cost nearly Rs 6000. Please tell me what could be the problem and how much it would cost to fix it. It would be a great help if anyone could refer me a good mechanic for it. I am living in Hyderabad currently.

How many kms on odo? Make sure you aren't running on lean mixture.Originally posted by farazSid View PostI have a Yamaha FZ-16, from a past few days some cracker type sound is coming from it, it is not even giving enough power, pick up is also down, sometimes I need to accelerate too much and it feels like the bike is going down, usually the engine gets off when that popping sound come from the bike, when I start the bike I need to accelerate it for 2-3 seconds otherwise the engine gets off. 1) check and adjust tapped as per the manualOriginally posted by farazSid View PostI have a Yamaha FZ-16, from a past few days some cracker type sound is coming from it, it is not even giving enough power, pick up is also down, sometimes I need to accelerate too much and it feels like the bike is going down, usually the engine gets off when that popping sound come from the bike, when I start the bike I need to accelerate it for 2-3 seconds otherwise the engine gets off. 2) check and adjust the CO level as per manual
3) check or replace plug
Let the bike idle for 2 min and then test ride.
FZ cylinder needs change ?? They should at least run 40-50k kms by just getting normal servicing done.

Re: Cracker like sound coming from my Yamaha FZ 16, also not giving enough power
The bike is 3 years and 6 months old with regular servicing and parts replacement (consumables).Originally posted by deep007 View PostOk you have completed 32000 km please tell us your riding habit like speed and tours.any problem specially engine(power drop, coolent, top speed, smoothness)
My riding style is pretty normal. Most of the riding has been in city area and speed as per the traffic, but never fast. On highways, i do 80-90km/h mostly but it goes upto 100+ quite easily. Top speed has been 115km/h.
I haven't faced any problem with the engine or anything. The ownership has been quite trouble free. Even now the bike is smooth to ride.
Couple of times i had faced powerloss at high speeds but it all came down to either bad fuel or less fuel in the tank.
Also our fz doesn't have coolent.
Ride safe and have fun.
Regards
Nadeem
