Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Steering racers changed recently.Originally posted by Jith_in View PostIt can be due to multiple reasons. Tyres, handle racer, bend forks or alloys, improper fitting etc. My xtreme also have this wobbling in speeds between 55 to 65. On discussing with some senior members i found it is common for some bikes in certain speeds. In those speeds the handle is adjusting itself to compensate the faults in the system.
RULE The Road, But First Wear The CROWN
Steering shouldn't wobble at any speed unless. A vibration comes at particular speed, but that is normal in any bike. The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!
Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I had the same issue and hence changed the starter relay.Originally posted by windrider007 View PostWhat was the issue with the starter relay?? my friends FZ also had a problem where the bike would start cranking as soon as soon as the ignition was turned on. Was rectified under warranty. No sufficient explanation was given.
Temporary solution till i reach the mechanic was to tap the relay(side cover) and it stops and then use the kick rod but not the start switch to switch on the bike.

Not on FZ16/S but on other bikes.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostHas anybody fitted end bar weights apart from stock ones?
In case you just want to know how to do it: get 2 nuts(don't laugh but what else should i say) of required size(on which the bolt from Bar end weight to be fit in) welded onto washer of exact dia of handlebar and then the washer has to be welded onto the handle bar.
Washer inner circle should be more than the Nut's thread hole.

Re: Headlamp upgrade for Yamaha FZ-S
You could add a relay/cut off for horn, if you don't have one already and simply go for 60/55. Will work like charm.Originally posted by sridhar_sls View PostHi guys,
My FZ-S have done 28000 KMs. The light output from the current stock bulb (35 W) is very poor. Thought of changing the bulb to 55/60 W. After reading some blogs, enquired in 1 or 2 shops in Coimbatore (F1 Stickers near Stadium), they told like we can change it to Philips Xtreme Vision halogen bulbs (Price 650 Rs).
I have already installed Pulsar's horn in my bike to get good sound (FZ comes with a single MINDA horn, this is double horn from MINDA again, used as OEM in Pulsars).
Also I have changed the battery to AMARON Pro Biker ABR-PR-12APBTX50 12V, 5Ah battery.
Will changing the bulb cause any issue to the battery ? Does it need any alteration in the electrical system ?
I already tried searching related posts on FZ headlamp upgrade, but could not find it.
Please give your valuble suggestions/ experiences or give link to similar related threads !
Thanks in advance.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I've got Apache 150 weights on CBZ classic rod. You can go for RTR unit, which comes as full assembly with rod and bush or even RE Continental GT. Simple thing is to weld a washer and nut at handle end and simply bolt in any handle weight.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostHas anybody fitted end bar weights apart from stock ones?

Front tyre 2k kms old, new bearings, fork oil and seal changed.
The major problem could be because of the front tyre ! I also had the same issue with my previous Bajaj Discover. Took it to service center for 3 times, but no use. So directly complained to Bajaj via their website. Within few hours I got call from the showroom and they asked to bring the bike. They tried by replacing the front tyre and rim of some other Discover bike and I drove it, it ran without any wobbles ! Also, Iput the bike in center stand and rotated the wheel, and when observing very keenly, we could see a slight zig-zag movement in the tyre itself. The wobbling was because of the defective tyre (Eurogrip Tyre by TVS - Stock in most Bajaj bikes).
So, you please try this:
Replace your front tyre and rim of some other FZ, drive it and check it.
If it works out to be fine, change the tyre, check the rim for any small bends. If the bike is under warranty, you can do a claim for replacing new rim and tyre.
If the dealer doesn't turn out, try registering a complaint via the Yamaha website !

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Put the new spark plug and tighten in such a way that the metal washer compress for the first time.Originally posted by snehith View PostCan anybody explain me the correct procedure for installing a new spark plug??i got it installed in svc but it drastically reduced fuel efficiency. I guess he didn't install it properly!! Please help me!
That's it....
Over tightening may strip threads of spark plug hole.
Plug change won't reduce mileage. Ensure that svc guys didn't messed up with your carburetor.

Need Yamaha FZ-S(2010 model) Tank Cover
I had given my Yamaha FZ-S for accidental repair at SG Motors, Kottayam, Kerala; 2.5 months ago. Every time I follow up; the workshop guys are saying the same; "tank cover not available for the 2010 model FZ-S". So I registered a complaint with Yamaha Support. They called me and inquired about the issue. Then also no hope. What can I do next? I'm currently at Bangalore. Is there any shops where I could get the Tank Cover? Or do I have to file a complaint in consumer court?

Re: Headlamp upgrade for Yamaha FZ-S
Just use normal 55/60 W Philips, Hella, etc. it gives sufficient good light, much better than stock one. This might just cost you around 100 Rs.Originally posted by sridhar_sls View PostHi guys,

If you want little extra use Nightbreaker or Xtreme vision.
You should not see any effect on battery.---------------------

Try other Yamaha service stations for the tank cover. Hopefully you should find one.Originally posted by finnyabraham View PostI had given my Yamaha FZ-S for accidental repair at SG Motors, Kottayam, Kerala; 2.5 months ago. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Some help needed. Today while going to office, I got caught in a very heavy downpour which came out of nowhere. After riding in the nasty conditions for a few minutes, I realised that the front brake had lost most of its bite and would engage properly only if the the lever was completely depressed. Scared the bejesus out of me. I managed to reach office riding extra cautious and using the rear brake prominently. Is this normal in heavy rains? By the time i returned home at night, the bite was much better but still not close to what it should be. I got my brake pads changed about 2 months back and I am a sedate rider. Its the brakes after all so I am totally paranoid.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Brakes should not behave like this. Water can cause slight loss in drum brakes, but not so much in disc type. You should get it checked by a mechanic.Originally posted by ALI.R View PostSome help needed. Today while going to office, I got caught in a very heavy downpour which came out of nowhere.
